Cleveland: Downtown Office Buildings Updates
Downsizing? Maybe they'll take over Starks former world headquarters in the WHD.

Cleveland City Council
I saw the Mad Max brigade (ATV's and bikes) on Euclid by the modern art museum . Pretty brazen.

Lakewood: Development and News
I'm afraid a lot of buildings on Madison will meet the same fate if the city doesn't step up enforcement.

Cleveland: Midtown: Development and News
The market is sensitive, however, to pre-existing conditions. Take for example parking garages in downtown Cleveland. Some were planned with first floor retail. Others are easily retrofitted, or even structurally capable of supporting a large building atop ie Euclid AVe. But the vast majority of garages are cost prohibitive to do virtually anything to with. Dead zones. Mistakes of the past. With simple planning requirements you can create an environment where positive development is much more likely to occur in the future. I see your point, and there are good comments on both sides. This whole Midtown thread is a good example of honest differences of opinion.

The other day I noticed that RAM Electronics on W 25th had closed. End of an era.

Cleveland: Downtown: The Beacon
I read the Design Review comments as suggesting just that--i.e., that the garage should be updated to conform with the tower; not that the tower should conform to the garage. Really? Well, I hope you're right and I'm wrong! Excerpt from Cleveland.com piece: The design-review committee asked Nadaaa and Westlake Reed Leskosky, the other firm working on the project, to explore ways to better integrate the new tower with the existing, glass-paneled garage.

I don't understand why Design Review would require integration with the glass paneled garage. To me that already looks dated and out of character. It's not the worst thing by any means. But regardless, I'm not sure it makes sense tailor en entire building around a parking garage. Shouldn't it be the other way around?

Cleveland: University Circle: Uptown (UARD)
Do you remember the "Cityside Gardens" around exit ramps back in the 90's? Usually a triangle pattern of dead saplings surrounded by tall weeds...and of the course the enormous sign saying that it was a garden. While they won't win any Arbor Day Foundation awards they are at least making modest strides.

Not to defend RTA, but they aren't used to picking up Waterfront Line passengers.

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
Horrible idea. Put that money in a fund towards the multi-modal transit center with a bridge over the top of it. That common sense approach would require a degree of coordination that's just not going to happen.

^ I don't know, I'm getting an Easton sort of vibe from first two stories on the latest rendering. The earlier examples look more welcoming and less corporation-like from the street level.

Cleveland: Filling in Euclid Avenue
The only thing I liked about Cadillac Ranch was their outdoor patio. Hoping Taco Bell does something similar to make good use of that space, but it's unclear from the renderings.

That's two weeks away. I just walked past it yesterday and it doesn't look like its been touched. There were workers in there today.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
I was pissed too. But not "throw-him-off-the-team" level pissed. I could see if Lee had a reputation for being soft, like Antonio Cromartie, but this was just one play. If Hue's a great coach then get in his face and get the results you desire. Then again, I firmly believe this was mostly a "tank the season" maneuver.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
I'd just as soon a Pro Bowl quality punter didn't go all out making a tackle in an exhibition game. This is actually a larger problem with the league. They are constantly changing rules to tame the physicality of the game and to curb injuries, and I don't disagree with much of the changes. Arguably, Lee was smart not to put a hit on that guy because the game was meaningless. If Hue Jackson wants the nastiest, hardest tackling punter in the league then fine. Start recruiting the rugby leagues or Australian rules football for some tough s.o.b. who wants to help an NFL team tank the season.

Ohio Education / School Funding Discussion
Wasn't sure what the best thread was...mods feel free to move. edit: Ohio starts at 8:45 of the video JOHN OLIVER BREAKS DOWN THE SHOCKING MISMANAGEMENT OF AMERICA'S CHARTER SCHOOLS BY RYAN BORT 8/22/16 Most people agree that charter schools are good. Even politicians. George W. Bush, Barack Obama, Mitt Romney and, yes, Donald Trump have spoken in support of the publicly funded, privately operated educational institutions. Because both Democrats and Republicans support charter schools, charter schools get a lot of government money. On Sunday night's Last Week Tonight, John Oliver decided to investigate just how well these schools are spending the loads of government cash they've access to. “For this piece, and I know this is going to make some people on both sides very angry, we’re going to set aside whether charter schools are a good idea in principle…and look at how they operate in practice," Oliver said. What the Last Week Tonight team found was a shocking amount of fraud and mismanagement at the expense of the future of the nation's children. http://www.newsweek.com/john-oliver-last-week-tonight-charter-schools-492401

What are you watching?
It is very good. The potential to be great is there if the show creators are able to build upon what the first season set up Agree. Me and the gf buzzed through in three days. Can't wait for season two!
