2016 U.S. Senate Race
^This. The shockingly high level of government corruption is a result of voting in folks that have no principles, no integrity whatsoever.

Cleveland: Random Photos
It does, but it will never reach its potential unless there's a larger plan for expansion. Boardwalks have to be connectors; they don't really function as isolated spots. I hear what you're saying, but I don't see the boardwalk realistically being extended to the south -- Coastal Taco, which has been highly successful if we're to judge by sheer patronage -- is directly in its path and to build it through there would totally wreck Coastal's deck seating view, which is a major gem for the restaurant. Coastal would fight it and, frankly, I don't think I'd like it either. I'm cool with the Boardwalk as it is. People seem to love it. Here's a simple solution though....simply bring the boardwalk along the sidewalk on Old River Road. There you go.

AFC Cleveland Royals Discussion
As much as I love soccer, I can't seem to get excited about any team that plays at a high school. Anyhow, congrats AFC Royals. CLE = Titletown

Cleveland: Downtown: The Avenue District
How does downtown's daytime population fit into the equation? That's a lot of disposable income based on the latest salary data I've seen.

It's pretty close to the Galleria....so maybe you have a valid point.

Cleveland: Downtown: The Avenue District
There is some retail finally going in at Avenue, a salon, called "Chic." Those of you with good memories will recall that in describing the project the developer hilariously misspelled "chic" on their website.

Cleveland: Public Square Redesign
I think that depends quite a bit on the speed of the buses and the proximity to pedestrians. I have seen some scary near misses when road construction pushed buses and confused pedestrians into close contact. Then again, I'm sure the new PS was designed in consideration of this, with public safety in mind.

Cleveland: Public Square Redesign
Ladies and gentleman, it's time to blatantly rip off Crocker Park. We should line Superior Ave (good riddance!) with several of these:

Cleveland: North Coast Transportation Center
I'd support this over the proposed bridge. The concept was originally part of the mall proposal for the convention center, and the renderings looked amazing. This thread is another example of the failure of the Lakefront Plan; it really did nothing to bring together major stakeholders. Without that it's nearly impossible to get traction in any cohesive, meaningful way. The NCTC should have been built by now.

Cleveland: Public Square Redesign
If we stay down the path we are on, there won't be any weekend buses in a couple years.... Very cryptic! I'm cautiously optimistic that the buses won't have that much of an effect. The few times I've been there I tried to gauge what it would be like, and to be honest I didn't even see that much bus traffic. At least not enough to cause concern. If the city does decide to close off Superior I do hope that they add brick pavers to "square-in" the square. It's not that I mind the "butterfly" aesthetic; but rather I hate seeing the concrete ghost of Superior Ave infringing upon PS.

Pittsburgh: Developments and News
Its crazy that Cleveland didn't try to do the same thing with the mall and the Shoreway. 80% covered by Federal funds.. Covered Shoreway and a beautiful new doorstep to the Lakefront.....now that would be transformative.

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
I don't fault the man for trying to tie RTA into the equation; that's a worthy cause. But after seeing KJP's rendering I'm firmly in favor of putting this thing underground where nobody has to look at it.

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
It has the capability of being very depressing. Absolutely. And I asked if anyone here had any confidence in the City to ensure great architecture and planning...and got crickets. The fact that there are no codified design standards for the Lakefront is ridiculous. But if you have ever been to a vibrant waterfront you see that retail is almost always an integral component. How would you like to see that area developed?

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
^ Haha! I think the diversity of viewpoints here is really cool. And I think it illustrates a most crucial time for the future of the Lakefront. It goes back to the question of "What is our waterfront going to be?" Whatever happens, it has to be great. There's no second chance at this in our lifetime. This thing simply has to be done the right way.

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
Nice article. I think the whole outlet mall needs to go away from that location. Horrible idea. Believe me I hate that render but I think outlets could be good, but only if the design fits the location. Monolithic structures are anathema to coastal access. Now I've been lots of coastal places where retail adds a great deal of vibrancy. A retail/family entertainment district like Broadway at the Beach or Barefoot Landing (both in Myrtle Beach) would be awesome for Cleveland. I have been to both of those and they are great. My concern is during the cold months when there is an icy wind blowing off the frozen or almost frozen lake. Perhaps a modification of that "look" with colonnades that have windows or panels that open when weather is more hospitable? Interesting idea. They've done something like this with the Mather.
