Cleveland: Downtown: Gateway District: Development and News
I agree that property has great potential. The connection to the river is a must, imho. I'm just not sure what Gilbert's intentions are regarding the riverfront. With Tower City Ampitheater and the Rib Fests you saw the real potential down there. However I'm afraid that area will simply be parking lot for a long time.

I can't figure out if Davey is really capable of playing the bass. Anyhow, the Monkees got props from the Beatles which was awesome for them. I loved that show.- History of urbanization...cool!

That's a great idea.- Cleveland: Edgewater Park
That's from Mayor Jane Campbell's Lakefront Plan. I wouldn't call it a guiding blueprint as it had no teeth; it didn't have any force of law supporting it. The Edgewater portion was influenced by a since abandoned idea floated to relocate Port operations to an island. Basically a lot of time, resources and effort went into that idealized, ambitious, yet toothless proposal.- Cleveland: SUPERMAN!
How about....Skylift 24 hour service directly to the Rockometer. Bam!- Cleveland: SUPERMAN!
Great point. Remember the guy that came on the forum proposing that concept? Cleveland has a ton of celebrity connections and cultural influence that the city could capitalize on.- Cleveland: Streetscape Improvements
Just thought I'd add that while there's a lot to criticize out there, the city continues to do a great job with the landscaping on E 12th.- Cleveland: Streetscape Improvements

Great points. But if I'm a developer I'm standing pat until RTA gets some kind of vote of confidence from state or local leadership. Why invest in and around something that's on shaky ground?- Cleveland Cavs Discussion

I think you needed a Pepsi can to get that price, right? You just gave me a bad flashback. I figured I'd just buy a Pepsi when I got downtown....there was no place to buy any. I repeat. There was no place open anywhere near the Jake to buy a can of Pepsi.- Lakewood: Development and News
The makeover on Madison continues....I'm actually going to miss going past The Corner Pub at 8am and seeing the regulars there, already drunk. Ghost Boxes: Reusing Abandoned Big-Box Superstores Across America ARTICLE BY KURT KOHLSTEDT Big box stores promise convenience and jobs for suburbs and small towns, but have a mixed reputation with designers and citizens. Many see big boxes as icons of unsustainable sprawl, reinforcing car culture with highway-oriented access and expansive parking lots. These boxy buildings not only take up vast amounts of land but often also require infrastructure around them to be overhauled. Later, when their super-sized occupants leave: a giant empty structure is left in their wake, which can be difficult to reuse unless a similar retailer takes its place. Some communities and architects, however, have started to turn these voids into opportunities, taking advantage of qualities unique to such megastructures. In one Texas town, a vacated Walmart has become the biggest single-story public library in the United States. Located in McAllen, the 123,000-square-foot building in question was redesigned and retrofitted by architects from Meyer, Scherer & Rockcastle. Their approach to the project turned some of the biggest challenges of big-box reuse into opportunities. The sheer volume of the structure provided an open framework, ready to be re-purposed. http://99percentinvisible.org/article/ghost-boxes-reusing-abandoned-big-box-superstores-across-america/- Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
This is supposed to be a 3 phase project. Does anyone think they can fit a 500k SF building in the Phase 1 area? Reminder http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2015/06/cleveland_lakefront_constructi.html [edit] I just noticed Phase 1 includes the area immediately west of the William G. Mather. Yeah I think grass is a bit overrated. What I saw with Perk Park was that it took almost two years for people to get accustomed to using the grassy areas. So I won't be surprised if it takes a bit of getting used to before more people take advantage of it. Should add that from what I've seen of the "wilder" landscaped areas it's looking really great.- Chicago Rising
