I don’t wanna pile on Great Lakes, because I’ll always love them. But there was a pretty in-depth article on them last year that made it obvious they were somewhat rudderless. They have lost their identity and need to look what other heritage microbreweries have done to stay relevant…rather than struggling to push the low carb kiwi seltzer kinda stuff they’ve delved into.

I haven't really been around NEO much, especially since Covid. But hasn't traffic on I-480 always been significantly worse than I-90? In the past I-480 has always been a personal "avoid at all costs" zone during rush hours. I'm really curious about how the influx of 100k people would affect traffic, especially since I remember way back when how even mid-level IX center events just paralyzed the area.

There are pros and cons all around, so I don't think the issue is quite as simple as "sprawl." There's just frankly far too many variable we don't have answers to. Another big question that's painfully unclear is whether moving the stadium helps or hurts the Lakefront Plan.

It could be simple greed of course. Or it's because he knows he won't be able to recoup the costs for building the stadium. In other words it is a bad investment for him to take on.

MLS will never expand enough though to capture all of the soccer starved cities in America. There is history in plenty of places like Rochester, Cleveland, Sacramento, Tampa, etc. etc. who are left out of the MLS equation. But I wholly agree with you the USL needs to get out of the USSF ranking and go outside the box, so to speak. I want to see USL get some crazy billionaire ownership groups operate in a league without a salary cap. It's not unthinkable that a New York Cosmos or some other eccentric outsider could buy a world class team.

I'm skeptical MLS would ever seriously entertain the idea of relegation. Those ownership groups just shell out way too much money to play in a second level. I would also argue the best thing for US soccer would be for USL to remain separate from and compete as much as possible with MLS.

I'm not an expert on conventions but I do know there's a big differential between contiguous and not-contiguous space. Otherwise the IX Center would never be more suitable for events. Also I don't recall anyone ever suggesting a covered Lakefront stadium would compete with the CC, but would be an extension of it. As for economic impact I'm more in the doubting side of how beneficial stadiums are for the economy. Then again I think we all are wanting to see an unbiased, third party cost-benefit analysis that's directly tied into the scenario in Cleveland and all of its own unique variables. It's actually crazy this has not happened with so much public money potentially at stake, unless of course the powers that be already know the answers and don't want to publicize them.

Two things: 1. we do have our stadium but it needs massive amount of investment and 2. our convention center cannot host larger events that end up at the IX Center. The calculus is different of course, but I'd argue it's not drastically so.

^ Nice! These types of places are seeds planted for the benefit of the entire community. And the inspiration gained from the Lakewood Screw Factory, W78th and Ingenuity building is notable. I was recently at Ingenuity for a music event, it's a great looking space and a desperate sign of life for the area. **I'm absolutely convinced Ingenuity could should have been courted to locate in those Warehouses near Browns Stadium as a cornerstone of much more organic Lakefront Plan. Another missed opportunity, but I digress.

Yes! I've witnessed this, seeing some building in Canada from Edgewater Park. I'm certain this is the type of thing that led to sailors seeing "ghost ships" and the like.

There is a lot of original musical talent in NEO. There are still good shows all the time! One issue I see is that the print media that once shouldered all the publicity for the music scene has not been replaced.

We could easily remedy any space for better street interaction. With the Rock Hall, great local artists, so many famous residents and a really amazing history of science and innovation there is a deep well for inspiration.
