Developers have been calling the shots for a long time. This is what, transparency in government?
  3. Confusing? I'd say the one-way conversion of Old River Road has been far more confusing for motorists. I don't really think there's any pressing need for renovation of this space. Oh well, hoping for the best with this plan.
  4. This dispute seems wholly unnecessary. But if the end result is two restaurants instead of one it's a net positive I guess. Hmm, anyone know who "aglazen" could be? JK Perry's Diner on Clifton has been the rock of the otherwise pitiful mess that serves as the gateway to Cleveland. That intersection has been shamefully neglected and disrespected. Horrible operators, landlords with no grasp of the importance. Shame on them all. Shame on every landlord and most of the pitiful merchants trashing this vital neighborhood and gateway to Cleveland. The corner is a study on how to fail in every way at urban design and development.

And the home of Paul Lynde!
  6. Had a very entertaining driver on the Red Line to CLE on Saturday afternoon. Hilarious station announcements. Guy may have a night job as a radio dj. Made the trip fun.
  7. Agree the lake views are amazing and have been undervalued for too long. However with a north facing shoreline you run the risk of shading out the waterfront and face it, we are sun-starved enough up here. So setbacks in height could be a good idea. You do realize the waterfront is at least a quarter mile away? You'd have to build a hell of a high rise to "shade out" that waterfront. Hey I could be wrong, but if you're at the beach at Edgewater it's at a much lower elevation than the property due south. So a "high rise" in the vicinity of Battery Park in the scope of the Gold Coast in Lakewood could create an issue there.
  8. Capitalist swine!!!!

  10. You guys aren't thinking of the bigger picture. This is simply financial good sense. Just wait and see....we'll have a few more wars. Eaton stock will go up. Everyone benefits!

  12. This, if true, is the buzz kill of the decade.
  13. There was one valuable thing imho. The Fest showed how well the riverside could be utilized in concert with Tower City Ampitheater for entertainment purposes. From a development standpoint a permanent family entertainment district could be a tremendous asset. Imagine having the boardwalk run through that section as a three season outdoor attraction. Now I suppose the West Bank could fill that missing piece in the Cleveland puzzle with further development. But if BOTH banks were connected and drawn into the same entertainment district that would be tremendous synergy.

  15. I believe it was Erocc who said that as long as a significant number of people view transit as a social program it just won't get the support it deserves.
  16. Strickland ran away from 3-C during his campaign. Now I'm not saying I side with Kasich at all on this issue. But much of the blame has to go to Governor Strickland who was completely unable to sell the idea to the voters. If there was ample public support for 3-C I'd bet that Kasich would not have even made it an issue.
  17. Hoping to Lead Great Lakes Lampreys to Demise by the Nose By RACHEL NUWERFEB. 8, 2016 For all the havoc that zebra mussels, Asian carp, round gobies and dozens of other alien species have wrought on the Great Lakes, those waters have never known a foe like the sea lamprey. The vampirelike parasites cost many millions each year in depleted fisheries and eradication efforts. Wildlife managers have long used lampricide — the lamprey version of pesticide — with mixed results. Now, an innovative control program seeks to improve on that method by using pheromones to trick the bloodsuckers into voluntarily corralling themselves in designated areas, to then be trapped or poisoned. But achieving this depends on cracking the fish’s olfactory language. http://www.nytimes.com/2016/02/09/science/hoping-to-lead-great-lakes-lampreys-to-demise-by-the-nose.html?rref=collection%2Fsectioncollection%2Fscience&action=click&contentCollection=science&region=rank&module=package&version=highlights&contentPlacement=5&pgtype=sectionfront

During the game last week Carr said that opposing players don't respect Mozgov. That's troubling.
  21. The media is running with that sinister "perp" shot of Manziel in CLEVELAND BROWNS uniform and hat. Whoever said that any publicity is good publicity obviously wasn't thinking of this.

For the same reason that the same government enforces strict meritocracy on people who don't have rich relatives. If you didn't earn this food, this home, this education, you have no inherent right to it (poor folks only). The government enforces that principle with brute force and I suspect you support it in doing do. Tax dollars support food stamps, public housing and education. So whether or not those things are inherent rights or not is not even relevant when support of those things is completely mandatory.

Cavs brain cramp their way to a loss vs. Boston tonight. Mozgov gets out-muscled and botches a rebound near the end. Crazy.
