Cleveland: Flats East Bank
Can anything besides a bar or restaurant be built in this town? It's getting old. The "original" Flats had a tourism center and a surf shop. Diversity! As much as I'm lukewarm on the theater idea I think it will help add some much needed retail.

South Park -- SODOSOPA
Well at the end a quick glimpse showed the district looking abandoned and in ruins. I think the premise is that you can't manufacture authenticity. Also, the video touting the historic Red Lobster was even more hilarious.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
In that light the team has certainly come a long way from having the QB sacked on hand offs. Or throwing passes for -2 yards. Still, at the glacial rate the expansion Browns are on they will be making the playoffs sometime around 2027.

Akron: Random Development and News
I think I read some history about her a few years back when the food truck issues started to arise. At any rate, I'm not sure what is under review. They have regulations in place and there is a yearly registration fee. I think it's at least $1,000 and trucks are not allowed to be parked on public property. It must be the public property restriction. I mean, that does seem like a considerable drawback.

Sometimes you just gotta repost a comment: ffs Mets Tom Ley 9/28/15 11:36am Now that I see it in action, I’m on board with Trump building a wall to separate the rest of us from the Browns.

Ha! I still wouldn't rule out the possibility of demonic possession.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
Perhaps the next national article will be about the Browns new philosophy of how to win while being disadvantaged at every position.

They do actually. Punch Bowl is actually a small chain based in Austin TX. But when any bar has a Cleveland connection it does not surprise me. The Drink huh, well I'll be in Brooklyn in a few weeks I just may check it out.

Akron: Downtown: Development and News
Ran into an old friend on a flight the other day. As a consultant, she was instrumental in getting the food truck scene up and running in Cleveland and in Portland, where she now resides. Anyhow, at one point in our catching-up conversation she expressed displeasure that after ten years the city of Akron still had food truck regulations "under review process."

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
^ That's such a dumb name, but Coastal Taco is worse. It just screams "generic." One name I do like is Punch Bowl Social. I took some friends to watch the amazing Browns victory. Overall we had a pretty good time there. It was their first day in business so there was some employee chaos, which is understandable with such a large place. Friendly service, I recommend. Though whoever set up their tv's must have been on acid because most of the angles are not good for viewing. My friends were impressed with the livelihood of the new FEB. They were less impressed with the architecture of the new residential building, even saying that it was much more suitable for Rockside Road (ouch!). Also, they brought up the obvious point that the activity concentrated around the new places made the rest of the Flats feel extra dead. I was very interested in their opinions because they were native Northeast Ohioans who, like most, aren't dialed in to Urban Ohio and just had no notion of the redevelopment going on. And i agree the rest of the FEB and West Bank just felt abandoned. Oh well, these things take time :-)

Cleveland Browns Discussion
For the most part, but he still didn't do much when we needed him to. 6-13 and a fumble in that stretch is not very good. And we were only up 7-0 after the first TD. It's not like we went into the "prevent offense" at that point. Because of the way teams go about preparing a starting QB in the pre-season (which is stupid imho) I think it's understandable how a young backup might go through these kinda bad stretches. I said this upthread a while back, much of the Browns failures can be blamed on complete lack of chemistry. Their offense hasn't had much of any consistency in ages.

The color is a welcome change. Brown/beige/tan is the worst. I'd like to see more interaction at sidewalk level however. Hope the future renderings show more.

Hipsters
^ Gawd the tinny treble! production on those 80's hair metal bands was awful! Ya know there was a glam band whose name escapes me, who sounded a lot like the Ramones before the Ramones ever existed. So the hair metal/punk thing just may be a little closer related than people realize.

Also want to add that Madison Ave in Lakewood has been under construction and I'd guess most of the usual traffic has detoured to Clifton sooner than normal. Especially with W117th looking like a warzone.

I can't put my finger on it exactly. Bland probably wasn't the right word. The architecture is great...it just doesn't look warm and inviting to me. It could be the lack of people. Or that some of the storefronts look dated or closed off.
