Interesting looking place. It sorta has a northern blandness about it.

'One of the largest human experiments in history' was conducted on unsuspecting residents of San Francisco Kevin Loria ... Over the next 20 years, the military would conduct 239 "germ-warfare" tests over populated areas, according to news reports from the 1970s (after the secret tests had been revealed) in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Associated Press, and other publications (via Lexis-Nexis), and also detailed in congressional testimony from the 1970s. These tests included the large-scale releases of bacteria in the New York City subway system, on the Pennsylvania Turnpike, and in National Airport just outside Washington, DC. In a 1994 congressional testimony, Cole said that none of this had been revealed to the public until a 1976 newspaper story revealed the story of a few of the first experiments — though at least a Senate subcommittee had heard testimony about experiments in New York City in 1975, according to a 1995 Newsday report. http://www.businessinsider.com/the-military-tested-bacterial-weapons-in-san-francisco-2015-7
  3. ^ I'm fairly certain Kennametal has (or had) a presence in Cleveland.
  4. I like the new wayfinding "lake/city" and the new landscaping. Otherwise add new lighting under the bridge and keep it simple. Except that there's no way to actually get to the lake going that direction.... <--- CITY LAKE*--->

I think pop music in the 80's was far more diverse and interesting than what we have now. There was still a fair amount of experimentation, it seemed. Today most everything seems creatively stalled, or just so derivative.
  6. I agree with this. I stopped watching the Indians when I could not watch them on regular cable. The same thing with the Cavaliers. There can't be many teams left anywhere that have games on "free" television these days. Do you think that trend could coincide with the NFL becoming even more dominant over MLB?
  7. My two cents on attendance theory: ever since the Tribe pulled their games off of free t.v. on Channel 43, a significant number of fans have lost touch with the team. Today I know very few people that have traditional cable, let alone pay extra to watch whatever channel the Indians are on now.

^ Oh Kyrie, those Vans provide no ankle support!!!!
  9. ^^ The river actually looks blue in that last pic!
  10. ^ Thank goodness that area is pretty dead looking.
  11. ^ always nice to see a glass block and bars-on-window combo haha.
  12. Maybe it's in a competition with the Cleveland Athletic Club...first to crumble, wins!
  13. I always thought it was a security feature. Thus, as with security screen doors and bars over windows, I tend to associate glass block with "unsafe" places.
  14. Brick...concrete....steel....asphalt....it doesn't matter, Northeast Ohio will kill all of it haha.
  15. Some Googling found that it was the latter - owner of a local engineering firm. At very least the plumbing and mechanical systems for that pool are probably top notch. I doubt the chlorine smell permeates the entire house. That tacky house and the successful small businessman comment reminded me of this:
  16. What an awful football organization.
  17. Sadly you can usually say the same about public schools and public housing.
  18. Textbook example of insular thinking.
  19. Who the heck knows what this offense will look like. I mean, will anyone be too surprised if things are really awful? The Browns seem to be perpetually out of sync with their ever constant changes in personnel. There's just never enough preseason time to get any sort of chemistry.
  20. Did I miss something in the news as far as the surprise goes? I had no idea he was still working...then again, I'm not exactly glued to local tv news so much.
  21. FYI I was surprised to see Dick Goddard doing the weather on Monday. I'm not sure he really knew where he was.
  22. ^ Dave's horrible architecture gets a free pass. Can't complain too much about a grocer that serves urban areas.
  23. That's what I said to myself. I' So I took the girlfriend there and had a lovely evening on their patio. Great food and service. Hopefully the next place is just as quality.
  24. Side stepping all of the controversy for a moment, it's worth checking out what Chicago did with naturalizing the shoreline at Northerly. It's very beautiful. I believe they're doing the same reclamation in Toronto. Regardless, this is what we should be doing in Cleveland north of Burke and all around the breakwalls. Reclaiming the natural aesthetic is important for wildlife and it provides a worthwhile option for dredge material.
  25. I just skimmed the Plain Dealer and read that U of A hopes to raze two "church properties." If I'm not mistaken the addresses were on Market and Forge. Anyone here know the details?
