  1. Ewww.
  2. It has an "institutional" quality; it could be the Clinic-esque base of the building. But overall I think I'm liking it.
  3. ^ FYI according to my estimation they're averaging approx. one floor of windows per week.
  4. I am just mesmerized by the blurry view out of that window! First look: Crop restaurant complex brings music treasures to Cleveland Flats (photos) CLEVELAND, Ohio --- The clock ticks on, with every hour bringing more stress and urgency. It's always like that when you're getting ready to open a new restaurant. Um, actually, three restaurants. Make that three much-anticipated restaurants in the $750 million Flats East Bank project. Yet, there was Steve Schimoler buzzing across the room of his soon-to-open eatery like a kid – wide-eyed with a big smile, full of frenetic enthusiasm. "My god, do you believe this?" he says, pointing generally across the room of Crop Rocks. I say "generally" because there was so much stuff he could've been pointing at. There were dozens and dozens of music artifacts all over the place. http://www.cleveland.com/entertainment/index.ssf/2015/08/first_look_crop_restaurant_com.html#incart_river

    They should have tased him.
  6. Absolutely. I have to wonder if the increased traffic on W. 25 has helped to spur some anti-growth sentiment. My guess is that most of the new residents are going to be adding their own cars to the mix.
  7. "In 1940 the population of Ohio City was 28,000," said McNair. "The population of Ohio City today is 9,700." That's quite a statistic. Especially for a neighborhood that's still very much intact. Where did those people live?
  8. Nothing says "Ohio City!" like karaoke, buckets of Miller High Life and DJ Dave!!!
  9. That building screamed "CASH FOR GOLD!!!"
  10. Intriguing concept. Unless I missed it, Cleveland's not on the route map as of yet. That's a little disconcerting.
  11. The study for W.25 corridor seems to be all about catering specifically toward people who can't afford cars.
  12. Boardwalks often serve as easements for running utilities....hmmm.
  13. Forgive my pathetic, horrible graphic design skill. But this is a concept that could actually be done asap and at minimal cost. A boardwalk HAS to take you someplace in order to work.
  14. And this is precisely why the boardwalk here has the potential to become such a huge letdown. [edit] Straps points are exactly why Plan B should be to steer the boardwalk along the public sidewalk. It's really the only way to ensure connectivity.
  15. It's all concerning, really. The boardwalk is a very very vital infrastructural project. Who is in charge of overseeing the design and routing of this?
  16. Re: Far drive. I never got the whole east/west thing about CLE until I moved here. But I totally agree with you. Ever since I moved to the west side places like Waterloo and Coventry seem 1,000 miles away sometimes. Slavic Village is centrally located, so it certainly has that going for it.
  17. I actually get paid to imagine things though :-) In this case I'm not an engineer, but it's interesting to consider the existing railroad bridge. It could perhaps provide the infrastructure for pedestrians access.
  18. rockandroller doesn't go to the Beachland??!!! Scandalous :-)
  19. The problem is that the boardwalk doesn't really go anywhere...yet. Great boardwalks aren't just waterfront platforms; they take you places. And I don't believe we'll see the boardwalk reach its true potential until there is northern expansion. But it's very easy to imagine a ped bridge to Whiskey Island from there, and you would see a tremendous amount of foot traffic then.
  20. How very sad. I suppose I'm lucky I at least got to go there once.
  21. Look at how it compliments the building across the street though. I don't trust the developers in this town. The Harbor Inn is a nationally famous place with tons of character and a great history. I actually worry about the possibility of a stucco looking Hustler Club 2.0 style building taking its place.
  22. If anyone else is a fan of roller derby girls, there's a whole lot of them from all over who will be partying at the 9 tonite.
  23. My exact sentiments re: the streetfront portions of the Main St. Deadzone aka Polsky Building.
  24. Hmm. Maybe Glenn Petranek? http://photoeye.zenfolio.com/pixel-mania
  25. Both have upside. But Waterloo gives N. Collinwood the edge; it's on a faster trajectory. Now the x factor for Slavic is the Towpath Trail. I believe the spinoff from trail connection is going to exceed expectations.
