  1. I remember the original plan looked pretty awful. The updated version is much better. Also, walking along Madison today I noticed the streetcar rails are visible where they are paving.

^ There seems to be tons of sand beach at Villa. Maybe they can now remove those breakwalls?
  3. was this the guy who did it? maybe this should be renamed the Painesville Crime Thread! :police: Painesville man accused of robbing, threatening to shoot Lakewood women http://www.cleveland.com/lakewood/index.ssf/2015/07/lakewood_robber_threatened_to.html The timing is interesting. Just spoke to my friend, it's not the same assailant. I'm not at the point where I'm gonna say East End isn't safe. But let's put it this way, when I'm walking down the street I'm profiling people now, and I don't feel good about it.
  4. It's a very tacky thing to say. Get the yellow caution flag ready.

  6. FYI my friend was assaulted and robbed Tuesday night in Lakewood at Madison and Winchester. Suspect is a kid (aged 15-18 is his guess) on a bike, African American. IMHO this is a rare thing and this is generally a very safe neighborhood.
  7. Love that view of Playhouse Square and the lake.
  8. Cadillac Ranch II (just kidding!!) Maybe Gary Bauer can remake The Basement. Haha. I'm still sad they knocked down that cool building. But yeah, fun spot for sure. Really the only establishment I'm looking forward (to personally visit) is Punch Bowl.

Didn't JR play a huge role during that 30-3 stretch? I know that's regular season, but I think it's indicative of the kind of continual upside we'll get with even more chemistry.

  11. Radical idea: transition the boardwalk along the western sidewalk of Old River. You would expand foot traffic by leaps and bounds.

  13. Point well taken. I just want to be mindful that many retailers in Ohio City do benefit from those quick, in and out customers. And I am a bit concerned that conversion to paid lots is going to exacerbate the awful parking bottleneck that now exists.
  14. How do you make it through a car ride that takes longer than 5 minutes? You can pull over if necessary. And not to say this is a Cleveland problem, it's a universal one for sure. I work in NYC sometimes and I've had to resort to illegal peeing so many times along that subway I've lost count.
  15. A transit commute of 1:45 brings up a question I hadn't considered. What about older folks (such as myself) who have to use the facilities like every 5 min? How many potential customers is RTA losing by not having restrooms?

Seeing the depth as "Shumpert, Harris" in printed form makes me want to re-sign JR asap.
  17. Guess I'm not the only one. That's a heavy traffic area, or at least it should be. It might be kind of uncomfortable for most people to sit that close to an active sidewalk, and there's the issue of beggars and potential crime. If it's a public sidewalk, can they run off panhandlers who camp right there? Beggars and potential crime? I go to Heinen's usually 3-4 times per week and and have only encountered a beggar around there two or three times. And what kind of potential crime do you speak of? I dunno, you can always walk away from them, but if you are sitting still you are a better potential target. Especially when eating somewhere expensive. And that sidewalk is bottlenecked pretty good. It seems like they'd have to put the tables in easy reach of people walking by. Other places I have seen aren't neccesarily with reach. Oh well, spotting potential problems is what I do for a living so I may be pessimistic.... I've seen the Downtown Partner folks handle situations where people hassle outdoor patrons. Even then, I've only seen that issue arise once or twice.
  18. My cousin from St. Louis texted me about the no-hitter in the 7th. I haven't had cable since 1999. So naturally I ran to the nearest "sports" bar. They didn't have the Tribe game on. So we had the bartender turn the channel. During the 8th inning several of the patrons who started watching the game left.....WTF CLEVELAND?????
  19. Right now there's a ladder visible between the original and the new exterior. I'm guessing the gap between the two is easily accessible at some point.
  20. Anyone want to amuse all of us by photoshopping those in?

Haha, go back to the Akron Beacon Journal Broussard!!!!!
  22. If I remember right that underbrush looked pretty good. Wasn't it all just cattails and coastal grasses?
  23. Is it me or is that area slowly growing....beautiful?
  24. ^ However, “It's also a high-upside project,” Simons said. “The developers get a chance to tie down a premium location for a long time without putting their capital at risk,” he said. “The lakefront location would be superior in many ways to others in the city with a lake view and cachet. What it does not have is a lot of restaurants and, as we all know, it's freaking cold in the winter there.” It's freaking cold in much of the U.S. coastal areas....yet Cleveland is somehow different.
