^ The polls I've seen have Strickland ahead of Portman. I think it will be a dead heat.
  3. Some related news: http://news.yahoo.com/ibm-teams-apple-artificial-intelligence-health-program-233116771.html;_ylt=AwrBEiTnVyxVeTUAESTQtDMD
  4. Collapse of the facade at Shore Restaurant in Lakewood last year. The owners are trying to reassemble the pieces in order to get a recreation done.
  5. I love that the big news orgs are on there, asking to use the video for free. Hell no! Those news outlets are in constant reliance of people giving away content. Don't do this...don't give away your property. Always be negotiating.
  6. Wow. How could you not read that in the voice of William Shatner?
  7. What a great photo essay! Wow. Lot's to think about, but my main takeway is that some day all of those rough edges in this city are going to be smoothed over....for better or for worse. The Alcoa exhibit is one of the reason's I love this section of Towpath. The industrial landscape is ugly. That is, until it is presented in historical context. And when better understood, well, that's when that grey industrial landscape becomes something beautiful. Finally, the only thing missing in this shot, a functionally developed river front!!!
  8. Well I'll be darned! A reason to go to Convenient Food Mart Store #048.
  9. I always thought it would be great if RTA passes were available for purchase at surrounding businesses. If my guy at the beer store can operate the lottery thingy, he should be able to get me an RTA pass.
  10. ^ I haven't posted on this topic in three weeks...yet I'm the one beating a dead horse? Good day sir! (bitchy, English accent lol)
  11. We haven't seen the video of entire incident because none exists.
  12. My understanding is they are not as concerned with the townhouses as they are the density and proximity to the property lines. They would prefer single family homes, but ultimately want the developer of the townhomes to address their concerns about the neighboring yard, sunlight, etc, and potentially reduce the development by a couple units to alleviate their concerns. This group needs to get their messaging together because it's all over the map in terms of their goals. My group is proposing the developer erect a tent-city for that lot. Our motto is "Density Without Construction."

The thing I remember most about Strickland is how he whined after losing to Kasich. Like, he sounded pathetic. What did he say? Paraphrasing, but he said something to the effect that voters never gave him a fair chance....blaming the voters for losing the election.
  14. Not sure. This is from my buddy Jack, who welds all sorts of things.
  15. Perhaps there's some nerd on here that would appreciate this. 12 tons of refrigeration for the new Cinematheque projector room.
  16. I'm assuming the taxpayer.

  18. Looking forward to several urban versions of Peninsula, Ohio cropping up soon along these trails.
  19. Not nitpicky at all, you're 100 percent right on this.
  20. Just curious, at this stage is it preferable that the facade be saved, or is it better to hope that new construction is built out to the sidewalk?
  21. Good news. It will be interesting to see if they can play up their visibility in this locale. Street presence and the BP building haven't exactly gone hand in hand. I really wish that a few years ago city leaders would have incentivized consolidating all media within PHS. A media and entertainment district, if you will.
  22. Yep....that article on W 25th Transit Corridor comes to mind....the one stating that transit is being developed for poor single mom's. It's easy to see how a modern, frills attached movie complex would integrate with PS. It's a good fit. Yet I don't want to give up on Tower City just yet. Having the CIFF there every year has been by and large a really great experience. I don't think anyone believes downtown could support two complexes.
  23. In grade school this song was deemed inappropriate, and so we weren't allowed to play the record. Very dark orange place I grew up in.
  24. A real concern: Almost all of of the work in question was done by a company called Doan Pyramid, an electrical contractor that was a major part of the Cuyahoga County corruption scandal that sent several county officials to prison. Doan owner Michael Forlani was sentenced to eight years in prison in 2013 on racketeering, bribery and other corruption-related charges after admitting he landed contracts through bribery.
