ESPN Sportscenter ran a segment this a.m. with Brian Windhorst on K Love. It was hilarious, because it was essentially a highlight reel with audio clip of Love saying how geared up he is for finally playing for a contender....meanwhile Windhorst and the hosts are saying Love doesn't fit in, the Cavs are great without him, that LeBron hasn't embraced him and finally that he "only has to play nice for one year." He'll be a Laker next year because someone on ESPN said so.

Love and Irving: ZERO playoff experience. That's a bit scary.
  3. that's so sad. she was so young. That said, I can't believe how petty and small minded some of the comments are about her on cleveland.com. Talk about sour grapes! hcsays 27 minutes ago If she loved the city, and had respect for It, why didn't she have the courage to stay? Basically, she stuck around for a while until a better job came around. How does that make one important to a city? We demean corporate executives who fly in and fly out on a whim. Why is a news reporter different? The "courage to stay." Oh man. It can really get depressing when you realize that there are just so many insufferable a-holes on this planet.
  4. I've done some work in Independence. The only pro I can think of was seeing coyotes run across the parking lot every now and then.
  5. I'm all for this. And think it should continue around the perimeter of Burke Lakefront to fully connect with the 72nd St park/marina. Okay, that would be pretty great. And I think it's kind of a neat challenge to have good aesthetic coexistence with the airport, port, rail, etc. I mean, these things are all a part of what makes the area interesting and they don't necessarily need to be surrounded by barbwire fencing.
  6. ^ how many ACL injuries have we seen because of dangerous celebration lol.
  7. Who would you rather have -- Miles Austin or Travis Benjamin? I can't help but feel that Travis is one good hit away from being in a coma.

I know you never want to say "never" especially when it comes to athletes and their decisions....but I'd be very very shocked if Love didn't remain a Cav long term. It would be so hard to explain going to from a top tier team to a losing one. Anyhow, we're just now starting to see the chemistry happen. This team is going to just keep getting better.
  9. Yep, founded by Jay Hill. Yes we all know each other!!!
  10. Is there data showing this? Do people pay more to live at Quay 55 than on Euclid Ave? I personally would rather live near restaurants, retail and nightlife than on the lake, even with the upgraded view. That's not even close to being the same. Come on now. I know u can do better than that. Over at Quay 55 there's Quay and nothing else. I'm borderline stunned that it's even controversial that people want to live off the water and willing to pay a premium to do it. I didn't think that was earth shattering news. And just because you would prefer something else doesn't make my point any less valid. People get so caught up in what they want and can't see the forest from the trees. Is anyone on here arguing that there will be no residential component?
  11. Haha. I've seen Buckeye Lake surf shirts before.
  12. So Myles Austin is the fifth guy?

Lots of good comments following this incendiary article. http://finance.yahoo.com/news/nightmare-scenario-cleveland-cavaliers-getting-163538152.html
  14. ^ Talked to my friend at WOSU yesterday. He was very interested in filming a documentary about the future of Buckeye Lake. Not sure if he will now, the issues seem mostly resolved.
  15. Fun and timely revisit! Watch Hamilton's call of the longest home run in JACOBS FIELD history. Franchise bests/worsts: Cleveland Indians By Dayn Perry | Baseball Writer January 16, 2015 10:46 pm ET Let's devote some time to the Indians, shall we? Over the course of the next month, we'll venture through the history of each of the 30 Major League Baseball franchises, discussing some of the best and worst moments, players, teams, etc. It's more a fun snapshot for discussion purposes than a be-all, end-all declaration. We continue today with the Cleveland Indians. The Indians, owners of two championships and five pennants, trace their origins back to 1901, when the fledgling American League swooped into the Cleveland market after the demise of the NL's Spiders. Now let's enjoy a walking tour of Indians history ... Best team: 1948 http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/eye-on-baseball/24968069/franchise-bestsworsts-cleveland-indians
  16. The ppl/gathering aspect of your idea makes perfect sense. If anyone has ever been to Ingenuity on the lake, you see how that area could function as a truly great space. And the best part is, it wouldn't require a drastic Nucleus type overhaul; it could start happening right away following the template that Ingenuity has already created. The warehouses space could be used for any number of things from artists retail space to interactive exhibits, music venues, or any sort of grass roots purposes. Add a boardwalk and some element of improvements inside and out with greenspace and congrats Cleveland, you've finally got your true lakeside destination that doesn't cost an arm and a leg to visit. Lakefront residential is so much more valuable. People are going to pay stupid amounts of money to live off the lake. Pace going in that direction is common sense. He's not spending the money that he's going to spend to develop a park. Hopefully he could do both but anything without the residences are woefully unrealistic Yet no rendering of this area has ever been exclusively residential. Public access to the water is already recognized by everyone to be woefully inadequate. So in any plan I guarantee you're going to see public promenades and the like to go along with what I hope is some amazing and unique residential and retail components.
  17. What's the rumor exactly? Rivers isn't happy about the idea that the Bolts could "bolt" for L.A. So the rumor is he's reluctant to resign. IMHO Rivers would do just fine in the AFC North. He's like a better version of Joe Flacco, though I think Flacco's arm is a bit stronger. His record in December, if I remember correctly is astounding... something like 33-6. But I don't think Rivers or the Chargers are going anywhere. Not resigning him would cause a fan revolt here in SD. I read that he wasn't sure how much longer he would play and it seemed like he was contemplating retirement in the near future. I wouldn't mind having him though. He's really glued to his family. They don't want to leave SD.

  19. ^^ Digging that reflection!
  20. Re: NCAA, The Florida State Seminoles aren't going anywhere. You have a point about Chief Wahoo, who is indeed a kooky mascot and is already practically phased out. But as long as the Indians name is seen in homage, the name should remain imho. We already have a football team that's never been to the Super Bowl. And a basketball team that's never won the title. Do you really want the trifecta of another major sports team thats never won anything?
  21. Question: will the front of the Convention Center along High Street still be a dead zone?
  22. You can't really blame him for Bentley, who literally got hurt the first day of camp. Everyone in town LOVED that signing. When that happened, I knew Charlie Frye's health was also in serious jeopardy.
