  1. Lakewood is perplexing. There should be more development going on, but for whatever reason, it is slow going.
  2. I will give the Buffalo group some slack here. I mean, locating in an unattractive industrial area is more understandable when your owner isn't an obnnoxious billionaire begging for public funding. I understand these owners are building privately. Anyhow the responses I was seeing on r/MLS, Buffalo fans seemed hopeful that they could eventually build larger and in a better area. And agree the Cleveland potential site seems pretty darn good.
  3. I was just imagining the possibility of having women's and men's USL teams in addition to MLS Next all sharing a brand new stadium.....that would make me so happy.
  4. Not sure of any specifics, but just saw these renderings for USL Buffalo's planned stadium.
  5. Was glad they cleaned up the garbage, it was third world and looked horrible. I wish they didn't cover the graffiti though. It was really interesting.
  6. I don't think this is personal or emotional at all. This is all business. If both sides have a mutual financial benefit in the future I assume they would be rational and pursue it. Yes I am giving Jimmy Haslam the benefit of the doubt that he would be rational. *I may edit or just delete this comment later.
  7. Saw these on FB late last night, courtesy of Drone Ohio. I really really want to see these old buildings restored to compliment the all the new development going on...easy to envision a boardwalk there up along future storefronts or residential. I wonder if we will see a more comprehensive vision of those adjacent areas at some point.
  8. Oh good. I honestly couldn't tell if these were still the old windows and going to be removed. Those buildings just seem to look ominous with "normal" non-paneled windows, I think.
  9. It looks like they did a really good job staying true to the original windows. * I mean assuming these are new lol
  10. It's not hard to imagine how that space could be flexible use. Even storefront window dressing with temporary storage space hidden behind it fills a purpose. Builders should probably be incentivized to build this way.
  11. I think this is a best case scanario for American soccer, exactly for the reasons you state. I am also intrigued by seeing which smaller fish in the USL will be promoted to play with the larger market teams at the top division. This is something we just have not seen in American sports in like a hundred years!
  12. I was jealous that Inner Harbor had something that North Coast Harbor did not: pedestrian flow. Here is hoping this improves with the Rock Hall renovations, better coordination among stakeholders, better access and better overall surrounding plans.
  13. Whoa! Lot of people in the soccer universe owe me a beer! Cleveland mens pro soccer you are on the clock... Sources: After historic USL vote, promotion, relegation in USA to become reality Paul Tenorio In a historic move, United Soccer League (USL) owners voted Tuesday to become the first professional soccer entity in the United States to adopt promotion and relegation, sources with knowledge of the vote told The Athletic. USL owners passed the vote with a supermajority, according to those sources. The USL currently operates two pro leagues: the second-division USL Championship and third-division USL League One. Last month it announced it will launch a new first division, with expectations to begin play in 2028. League owners now will look to introduce promotion and relegation throughout that three-tiered pyramid, with an aim to launch pro-rel along along with the new Division 1 league. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6213452/2025/03/18/usl-promotion-relegation-us-soccer-vote/
  14. While I am admittedly underwhelmed with Flats East Bank, this place was initially marketed as Dubai on the harbor. So its current state is a more spectacular fail imho.
  15. Cybertown USA...ouch. But this is textbook inorganically subsidized "growth" at work.
  16. The brewer down at Thirsty Dog once told me that their building, the old Burkhardt Brewing Company, "would take as much money as your could throw at it," lol. I wonder if WSM is a similar scenario.
  17. That place was pretty amazing in the early 90's when it was a Hilton. The mall was really fun, especially around Christmas time. Because this was pretty much pre-internet it's almost as if that once upon a time, lively version of the place never happened.
  18. A very pro monorail came on this site a few years back. He had not seen this Simpson’s episode haha
  19. Super interesting. And I am especially floored to see NJ still growing. The cost of living must not be the deterrent people think it is.
  20. I would imagine the train drawing many thousands of visitors to Tower City during the holidays. It would be a big deal for bringing families, and potential shoppers back to the city center.
  21. Respectfully disagree. This is really the only viable option, and I believe it's a good option. The entrance fees for NWSL aren't going down anytime soon, that ship has sailed. Also the USL has resources at its disposal that frankly the NWSL doesn't have - namely a very large organizational structure with developmental teams reaching down to the grass roots level of soccer. This is a good investment. Now a bad investment would be spending hundreds of millions on NWSL and having that not work out (see Cleveland Rockers).
  22. How about we tie it into shared use by the Rock Hall, Science Center, Aquarium and who knows....even some orange sports team that probably doesn't deserve it lol.
  23. Right. Is that depressive "self-medicating" category or "hey we're having a party" category lol.
  24. Cleveland is dead last at #182. https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/10-happiest-cities-america-according-100000695.html
  25. omg Its current owner and landlord, Robert L. Johnson, took over the business just months after serving more than three decades for a murder conviction when he was 15, and he’s now awaiting trial on felony kidnapping and assault charges after he was arrested at the building in November.
