Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
Hasn't most of it been painted over? Some yes. But most graffiti writers have profound respect for the big wigs and leave them untouched. There's stuff in Cleveland that has been "riding" untouched since the 90s/early 2000s. Some has been painted over by the City but that is a function of its location. I'm sorry, I meant painted over by RTA.

Some of the graffiti I'd consider pretty good art. I'm fine with it too. The trash has been an ongoing problem for years. It's particularly disheartening to imagine someone's first trip here; they land at CLE hop on the Red Line and get to see mattresses and tires among the overgrown weeds. It's a bad first impression.

Northeast Ohio / Cleveland: General Transit Thread
This is unacceptable. And the rational basis for the decision seems narrow and flawed; it's like they're designing the service solely around people who have no other choice but to rely on public transit.

I just had the sinking suspicion that the Dolans are reading this thread and going to outlaw the "bring your own food" policy haha!

I think the changes will be a hit - pun intended. Just wanted to make sure ya knew that you can take basically any food you want into the game with you. I actually didn't realize this for a few years and had been unnecessarily hiding the superior street vendor hotdogs on my way into the stadium. In fact, more local businesses should cater to this fact. I'm talking to you especially, Mr. Sawyer. I want my special Indians To-Go cup of Noodlecat ramen for the games. And I want the cup to be a collectors item, like with Charles Nagy on it.

Ha, did you notice all photos are credited to Platform Brewing Company? Perhaps they are diversifying their business plan to becoming the next Getty Images.

If so, it's one of the most depressing, featureless buildings I've ever seen along Euclid. So far it kinda reminds me of a small, boxy version of the Death Star. [edit] On second glance, it's obviously a joint project between three equally terrible architects.

NFL: General News & Discussion
Probably nothing. At most a fine or lost draft pick. If you told me I would get a slap on the wrist in exchange for a trip to the Super Bowl, it's a no-brainer. I doubt the under-inflated balls had any bearing on the game, but that is the thought process. It's ironic, or rather damning, that there was a journalist being interviewed on espn radio last week. He covered a good deal of the Pats video taping controversy when it happened. The guy actually likes Belichick. But he said that Bill is maniacal in that he "will do absolutely anything" if he thinks it gives him a better chance at winning. Also he claimed the Pats gained very little or no advantage from their video taping excursions.

^ But you wouldn't have had to catch it, just knock that thing out of bounds! Anyhow, that was an epic meltdown way worse than Jose Mesa, the Drive or the Fumble.

We already had that day. Professional and amateur teams a century ago were sponsored by companies. Look at the names of the earliest NFL teams, including the Acme Packing Co. of Illinois which had meat-packing facilities in Green Bay and sponsored a pro football team there. Another pro football team was the Columbus Panhandles, founded in 1901 by Pennsylvania Railroad workers at the Panhandle Line (Columbus-Pittsburgh via the West Virginia Panhandle) maintenance yard just east of downtown Columbus. Even my little league baseball team in Highland Heights in the 1970s was named "Don's Shell" because of the car service station on Wilson Mills Road that sponsored our team. Seems that companies with an address on Wilson Mills Road (like Progressive) like to sponsor baseball! Cleveland: Flats East Bank
I get your point. But I'd be genuinely surprised if FEB had 1/10th the amount of retail that Crocker Park has.

Cleveland: Downtown: Progressive Field
Right. Charge me a nominal fee and sure, I'd head there for some games for the atmosphere. But really if they're going to stand by the time honored practice of gouging for food and beverages, well, there are just way too many sports bars in NEO offering a cheaper alternative.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
I remember when Gerald Wilkins came to the Cavs. He got to Richfield and asked "what the heck do you guys do around here?" And Brad Daugherty said "I have NASCAR parties at my place, there's fishing and deer hunting right here by the Coliseum and Larry's got a race car." Take that, city slicker!

I'm in a great mood today. Are you trying to ruin that lol :-) Haha my apologies surfohio[/member]. I kind of went off on a tangent there but it frustrates me that some of the most valuable property in the city is being used in a way that will not make me want to frequent the area as often as I'd like. With that being said I hope it's very successful and draws big crowds. Yeah I'm with ya. I'm resigned to the likelihood that the new FEB isn't being marketed for me (or you). I also hope the crowds do come and appreciate it. The Flats are indeed a special place.

I guess just standing space/party deck area. I don't foresee many people going up there to watch the game. It made sense at Coors Field because they put a bar in the upper deck. But I don't really understand what the draw is supposed to be up there If you can get in the park for a cheap enough price, I'd actually prefer a sports bar setting rather than the siberian section nose bleed seats. Anyhow I like how the renovations look to make the stadium more intimate. I hate seeing all those upper deck sections unpopulated.

NFL: General News & Discussion
I'd really hate to be that GB tight end that had the onside kick bounce off his face. Or that GB defensive back that let the receiver catch the desperation 2 pt. conversion pass. Props to R. Wilson and Co. They kept their cool. They stepped up and made plays when it counted most. Holy cow I completely forgot about the GB defender that intercepted the ball and FELL STRAIGHT TO THE GROUND INSTEAD OF RUNNING STRAIGHT TO THE END ZONE for a 26-7 lead. It's truly amazing to contemplate what exactly had to transpire for the Pack to lose that game!!!!

Agree. I feel like this is a premier location that deserves something more local/original, or at least a franchise that is healthy.
