Cleveland: Edgewater Park
Hmmm CLEVELAND METROPARKS TO HOST PUBLIC MEETINGS ON FUTURE OF LAKEFRONT PARKS Posted: November 21, 2014 Cleveland Metroparks took over management of Cleveland Lakefront Parks in June, 2013. The Park District is working on a multi-year strategic plan for the future of the lakefront parks and is enlisting input from the community at a series of public meetings scheduled for the first week in December. The public is invited to attend any of the scheduled meetings to provide input on the proposed improvement projects, including plans for a new beach house at Edgewater Park, renovations to the pier at Euclid Beach Park and the proposed new pedestrian bridge over Euclid Creek linking Villa Angela and Wildwood parks. Additionally, attendees will have access to the latest Cleveland Metroparks updates and are encouraged to provide feedback on their recent visitor experiences at the lakefront parks. All three of the public meetings are open house style from 5-7 p.m., with special presentations at 5:15 and 6 p.m. The first meeting is Tuesday, December 2 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, in the gymnasium, 1355 W. 70th St., Cleveland, followed by Wednesday, December 3 at Cleveland Metroparks Lakefront Management Center, 8701 Lakeshore Blvd. NE, Cleveland, and then Thursday, December 4 at the Collinwood Recreation Center, 16300 Lakeshore Blvd., Cleveland. Metro Cleveland: Road & Highway News
The bridge normally handles about 6,300 vehicles a day, including 250 trucks. Wow. Anyone else find that fact surprising?

Glass Block is Terrible
It's wonderful how the block "window" perfectly frames that crappy air conditioner.

Cleveland: Shoreway Boulevard Conversion
No help to me haha. Tried cutting through there on my bike last month and didn't know it was blocked off...tried getting to Edgewater following the detours and it was like I got lost in some kind of infinite loop.

To be fair, their demographic isn't looking for the Wire or anything.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
That sounds like it could be cervical stenosis. Any numbness in your hands/arms? If LeBron's back is the issue then his call to play fewer minutes makes a lot of sense.

Lots of open shots for the other team. The Cavs D reminds me of watching the Sprewell era Golden State Warriors.

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
Haven't heard anything about Panini's. While I'm no big fan of theirs, their concept was a lot more inviting than the Beach Taco imho. http://media.cleveland.com/business_impact/photo/paninis-on-the-flats-jrr-1jpg-cbab410412a69264.jpg

I wish the Crew (and Blue Jackets) did more outreach into other parts of the state.

The BEER Thread
Was in Athens for the Paw Paw festival last year. Stopped by Jackie O's and the bartender overheard my buddies talking about unique beers. So he calls us into the brewing room and has us try a small batch concoction he's been working on - lunch meat beer. Just like it sounds, beer with deli meat spices. Yes it sounds terrible, but really it was absolutely great.

I'd sure love it. A Cleveland-Columbus rivalry would be a whole new dynamic.

MLS: General News & Discussion
I just read someplace that the MLS wants to expand to 24 teams by 2020. Any guess on who else gets in? I'd bet on Tampa Bay Rowdies.

Akron: University of Akron: Development and News
Great news. There was talk that this beautiful building was a goner. I heard that, too, which would be a shame. It's a nice building for banquets and balls, with a character of formality that you just don't have and really can't create in the Student Center. I always thought that the area surrounding it could become something like a "Faculty Village" with townhomes taking up some of the empty lots, and the Martin Center and Hower House serving as cultural anchors. It would be something of a "pocket" neighborhood, but it would breathe life into what has long been a neglected part of campus. Probably little more than a pipe dream at this point, given the collapse of the University Park foundation initiative. That's a great idea. I wish the University had the foresight to steal your idea 10 years ago. The unfinished, half shiny, half bombed out state of campus area is depressing to me. Especially when compared to the largescale changes going on over in Kent.

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
Greenspace is great. But the connections between the existing buildings are really dysfunctional. New infrastructure can bridge these gaps and preserve the lake views if done the right way.

Finally realized what this reminded me of.

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
Anyone here know what in the world is going on with this former connection to the lakefront? How about we spend money to fix this first. CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Many Cleveland Browns fans will be forced to take a different path to walk to FirstEnergy Stadium on game days. On Monday, Cleveland officials announced that the pedestrian bridge leading to FirstEnergy Stadium that spans the Cleveland Memorial Shoreway will be closed indefinitely. http://www.cleveland.com/cityhall/index.ssf/2014/08/new_cleveland_browns_tailgatin.html

I'm starting to feel like this connector is an ill-planned waste of money.

Cleveland: Flats Developments (Non-Stonebridge or FEB)
^ Can't wait til they get the bridge straightened out. And I still find it particularly amusing that the owner of Sainatos Pizza opposed the skate park.
