Fixed roof stadium = artificial turf. I don’t think it’s been mentioned yet, that playing on turf apparently causes more injuries: In summary, they found that there are "a higher rate of foot and ankle injuries on artificial turf compared with natural grass on both old- and new-generation turf," and that "elite-level football athletes" were more predisposed to knee injuries on synthetic turf. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/38624943/inside-nfl-turf-debate-injuries-safety-measures-more

I care how companies treat their employees and the contractors they hire. I am much less inclined to maintain my 20+ year loyalty to SW nowadays. They needlessly shoot themselves in the foot, again.

Conservatives, Liberals, Libertarians, and Communitarians.
^ We rely on labels way too much. It accelerates the shallow "dumb everything down" culture we live in. It's a safe bet that every single person on this forum has viewpoints that are conservative, libertarian, liberal etc. etc.

You just inspired me to make a video of my own. In fact I encourage everyone to do so.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
NBA "star" hahahaha this guy scores 3 pts a game. I suppose that makes Dean Wade a "superstar" by comparison. NBA star banned for 25 games for performance enhancing drugs... https://www.tmz.com/2024/01/23/tristan-thompson-suspended-25-games-for-violating-nbas-anti-drug-program/

As long as we can talk about preference, wouldn't you also prefer a roof that could open when it's inevitably 70 deg at kickoff? That's my preference. If the only option is dome or open air my strong preference is for open air UNLESS we can show it makes financial sense to do otherwise. And again, there's no discernible pressure from the Convention Center folks to do so. The open air stadium doesn't at all seem to hurt attendance in cities like GB, Pitt, Cincy, Buffalo or Cleveland. Maybe that changes in the future, but I don't think it will.

All of that commentary is us. We have nothing to show whether a roof is a good investment or not, which again is what’s strange.
-
Cleveland: Downtown: Huntington Bank Field
Agree! What’s strange to me is there seems to be no real momentum toward incorporating a domed or retractable roof stadium with the Convention Center. No studies, no real (visible) lobbying effort, no mention of ROI…just crickets!!!

is anyone watching the Lions vs. Bucs taking note of how pathetically dark and dreary it looks inside Ford Field? It makes me wonder if they’re using discounted fluorescent lighting. I would hate to see the Browns forced indoors in a fixed roof stadium especially when half the season the weather is pretty great.

Agree. And also a reason why I think the boardwalk needs to be completely connected or contiguous. Boardwalks are that rare thing that helps break the mindset that people need to park exactly right next to a specific retailer. Parking lots can be located elsewhere in reasonable proximity, perhaps share with Towpath parking.

^ again the sidewalk can double as a boardwalk. This is done other places and is perhaps the only practical way to get around unwilling private owners
-
Cleveland: Flats East Bank
^ The sidewalk could also be boardwalk in sections where jerk property owners are not cooperative about public riverside access.

Absolutely. Boardwalks don't work unless they take you somewhere. If they're "private" and don't allow pedestrians to pass through we're talking about a DOCK.

Airline Industry News and Discussion
There used to be a Spirit nonstop redeye LAX-CLE for like $59 or something crazy. After doing that 3 or 4 times I realized there just was not enough alcohol at LAX to get me through that flight. The seats were so crammed that people were sprawled out into the aisles. It was a flying zoo.

I guess fears of Spirits seating causing irreversible back damage wasn't enough of a tipping point.

It's actually perplexing more isn't going on. When you compare the pace of growth to Detroit-Shoreway, Ohio City, Tremont etc. it makes one wonder.

Agree, and will posit that he was speaking in a wider sense, beyond just housing. Downtown CLE isn't anywhere near commercially diverse enough.
