Cleveland Cavs Discussion
About last night, I was surprised to see the Cavs offense going so effectively through the center position. Andy showed us what's going to happen when other teams leave him room to operate, he looked tough. One of the broadcasters said that Andy's offense is still limited, and that teams are going to see tape and defend him better. Still, he's hitting a mid range jumper and looking comfortable. Both LeBron and K Love played tentatively. While LBJ just seemed to be testing the waters, Love looked very out of sorts. There seemed to be long stretches where he didn't even touch the ball on offense. But even him just standing outside helped spread out the floor. His unguarded air ball three was indicative of how Love's night, but he was active with the rebounds. Also LeBron had some uncharacteristic lapses on D. The Winking Lizard tv was enormous, but still not HD enough for me to tell Kyrie from Dion. The player I now call "Kyon" looked good. Noah looked overmatched by Thompson/Varajao. Gasol looked crafty. Rose was great. It's going to be so fun watching this team gel. Right now, it's like you can see all the pieces but it's still somewhat a mystery how it's going to fit together exactly. At one point there was a miscommunication over a time out and Kyrie went ballistic on the team...I'd like to see him be cool down a bit. And Thompson, I wish he'd just do the opposite and take some angry pills. He had the most tentative, most apologetic alley oop "slam" I've ever seen. I think he apologized to the ref and the Bulls bench on his way back down the court. Dammit Tristan, get mean. Even if it means you lose your Canadian citizenship. We don't need you to be Brad Daugherty...be Tyrone Hill.

2014 Gubernatorial Election
Good question. Guy seems like a career politician. I'm not sure he's ever held a private sector job.

2014 Gubernatorial Election
You're already thinking 100x more than most voters. It's far easier for candidates to throw out a simplified, catchy slogan than it is to talk to voters on something as complex as state/national economic factors.

MLB: General News & Discussion
During the WS last year or the year before, there was an audio glitch where the booth audio cut out. No commentary at all. While you still got to hear the crowd, the ball off the bat, the p.a. announcer and all of the sounds of being right there at the stadium. And this was all accompanied by all of the great, extra camera shots you get during the World Series. It was by far the most enjoyable half inning of baseball I've seen in ten years.

Glass Block is Terrible
It's to prevent insiders from being thrown out through windows, and outsiders from smashing in through said windows. In that regard glass block is a visual indicator, much like barbed wire. When you see it, you know you're in a cruddy area.

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
Whenever I met people from the burbs there, I always had them park on Columbus. It's a two minute walk and rarely is anyone parked there. The lot is a traffic monstrosity. For the record I've never been unable to find on-street parking somewhere.

Cleveland: Downtown Cleveland Alliance News & Discussion
I agree. They are the next largest group of those moving downtown and have more disposable income. Maybe they're targeting the younger crowd with the videos, and marketing toward older crowd in other ways?

Cleveland: Which Project Will Be Next and Why
The Lakefront mixed-use development needs a lot more scrutiny. I'd really like to see progress, but the waterfront is a unique asset. This thing's gotta be well planned out and done the right way.

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
That hasn't been proven, actually. It was probably not random violence. Keep in mind that public reaction and reality don't always link up. Corey Booker and Hillary Sharma were very high profile missing persons cases. Booker probably had a drunken accident, and Hillary was a suicide. Michaela Diemer barely got noticed until her car turned up a month later, she was kidnapped, raped, and murdered. Curious, what makes you say it wasn't random violence? edit - sorry I thought you were referring to the recent stabbing.
