  1. I was skeptical, but Litt brings up a pretty good argument. Certainly at some point some of the views that we're used to are going to be altered. I think we're all aware of that, and accepting of it. However a six story hotel in such close proximity of the Rock Hall, well, that just doesn't appear to be a good fit. Anything built between the Science Center and Rock Hall probably should be low rise, maybe three stories maximum. One major point of the article concerns the Pedestrian bridge. Litt seems to confirm my fear that the rush job will result in poor, disjointed planning that we'll come to regret later. Whose job is it to make sure that all stakeholders are on the same page? Lastly, who are we to rely on to make sure that the new projects: 1. foster better connection between attractions while 2. protect public access to the water? Once again I feel we in Cleveland are at the mercy of a developer to protect our interests. The article flat out mentions that the proposed hotel height and location are against the guidelines set forth in the existing (and sadly toothless) Lakefront Plan.
  2. Wow that building is just about terrible. Anyhow, glad it's getting a tenant finally. And hoping the renovation does some magic.
  3. Improving the Shoreway has been discussed forever, particularly regarding the E 9th on/off ramps. Right now the walk down E 9th is much too pedestrian unfriendly.
  4. I'm definitely picturing a boutique-style hotel here. An aquatic/great lakes/nautical theme would work great here -- essentially using the disconnected-ness from the rest of Downtown as an advantage. Make it feel like a getaway. ^ Love that idea. There is a lot of blank space to fill between the large, existing major attractions. Next up we should be thinking how new hotels, retail, residential and highway infrastructure can be planned out to help bridge that gap. I don't think the pedestrian bridge alone is enough.

Listening to Kylie and Booms. Sounds like the police have been directed to crack down on tailgating at the Muny Lot. To their credit they were grilling Cimperman about this. Interestingly Cimperman does not know who is behind this crackdown, and he encouraged fans to write and email the Mayor, Police, Council - basically everyone you can think of to say that cracking down on tailgating is a misuse of police resources.
  6. 325 actually....my friend is quitting!
  7. We haven't even gotten started on any serious lakefront residential. When we do that could spur tons of interest in downtown living.
  8. ^ I'm still anticipating the houseboat community that was planned in one of the nineteen different plans for NCH.
  9. Ha! You're right. Perhaps here is the explanation: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hellmouth_(Buffy_the_Vampire_Slayer)#Cleveland_Hellmouth In the fictional universe established by the television shows Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, a Hellmouth is an area fraught with massive supernatural activity. Cleveland Hellmouth[edit] There is one featured Hellmouth in Buffyverse canon, located in Sunnydale, California and a second one, mentioned several times throughout the series, in Cleveland, Ohio. The location of the second Hellmouth is first suggested in the episode "The Wish". In an alternative timeline, Giles mentions that "there is a lot of demonic activity in Cleveland", where Buffy is located due to the effects of Cordelia's wish. After the final battle in "Chosen", and the characters express relief that their struggle is finally over, Giles adds that "there's another one in Cleveland". In the Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season Eight comic "No Future For You", Giles refers to Cleveland, where Faith is stationed, as a "second-rate Hellmouth". In Angel: After the Fall, the Senior Partners express interest in purchasing property in Cleveland, following the destruction of the Sunnydale Hellmouth.
  10. You miss what tower? Clock tower that was originally there. It was pretty sweet and would be great to have back.
  11. I saw "Bad Grandpa" stuck on an overnight flight. Several times a character would go past the St. Louis arch, turn the corner and be right at....you guessed it - Public Square!
  12. That's just it. They knew. We all did because Ray Rice admitted this already. Jim Harbaugh is still an idiot and the Ravens would've looked far better had they terminated his contract weeks ago.
  13. Casino's and terrible taste really do go hand in hand. Our casino looks mostly tasteful from the outside because it's a classic department store, not because of the casino owner's or designers tastes. The dice thing was hideous, but predictable. Which is exactly why I cringed whenever I heard the casino could be a Caeser's. The potential for the streetscape turning into Rome is truly terrifying.
  14. Sediment is the most common river pollutant. This is interesting: http://cfpub.epa.gov/npstbx/files/ksmo_sediment.pdf
  15. It looks as if they're 95 percent done with the curbs. Just dropped by the Enhance Clifton site. I have the feeling we're not truly going to know what this is going to look like until it's completed. 16. Interesting, elements of Appalachia/Midwest. I always pictured Wilmington would look like the typical, sprawling low-rise East Coast beach community.

Always loved this "Beach Boys" song. Never realized it was actually a cover...and the original is just as amazing! The Students were a doo-wop vocal group which formed in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1956. Although they only released four sides, two of them - I'm So Young and Everyday of the Week - became doo-wop standards. "I'm So Young" in particular became hugely popular (and durable), and has been covered by groups as diverse as the Beach Boys, Rosie and the Originals, and The Ronettes.
  18. No way should the Buckeyes have retained their high rank after Braxton went down. The college rankings are idiotic.

Does anyone know why the NEORSD uses promotional billboards with the word "Sewer" so prominently? To me this is very strange. I realize that's part of their name, but is that smart marketing to have "Sewer" billboards by Edgewater Park? Talk about negative connotation. San Diego and other cities use the more neutral term "Wastewater." We should follow suit.
  20. Downtown could certainly use a lot more color. And be a little less serious. Maybe the dice could've grown on people, but my first reaction to this was "this is awful."
  21. Wow. Take a few moments and check out this view. Sometimes I forget just how beautiful Terminal Tower is. http://www.gannett-cdn.com/-mm-/df71e2bbc49d0382acfac16d56729451a5644e73/c=591-0-4928-3262&r=x1443&c=1920x1440/local/-/media/WKYC/WKYC/2014/09/04/1409855584001-DSC_0056.JPG
  22. Perhaps this is a design concept that could warrant wider use around the city re: wind protection in colder months? I like it. It gives a sort of European feel in the old medieval parts of cities....Florence, Rome, London etc. And it's a nice, density driving change-up from the more suburban style developments going on (ie Flats East Bank, etc.).
  23. Party with Murray!!! What name will you be booking under?
