  1. Seems to me that was around a pretty long time. Like after the mall had pretty much died (aside from the theater and arcade). Can't say for sure, though. But I do remember what you're talking about, vividly. I went there many times. Probably saw Home Alone there, haha. Does anyone have a graph showing how the Mall was fine, earning substantial revenues....only to dip dramatically once the glass block was installed?
  2. Perhaps this is a design concept that could warrant wider use around the city re: wind protection in colder months?
  3. Great points. But I'd suggest the Clinic could do much more to foster that type of spin off development. It just seems like property adjacent to large, ever growing institutions (hospitals, universities, etc.) are often in peril of being devoured and as such those properties won't inspire long term commitment.
  4. That building could be the centerfold of next months issue of Evil Corporation Magazine.
  5. The Laneway concept will be a big hit here. It's just what downtown needs more of.

Self-deprecating humor goes a long way with me!
  7. ^ Somebody ought to warn Chris Ronayne about the dangerous avalanche behind him!
  8. Digging :24 and :55. What character this city has!
  9. Amazing I love this. I wonder who did the music??
  10. Darn. I thought the Crop concept was a very good one. Perhaps the concept will arise - or be copied elsewhere.
  11. Wow that is looking very impressive.

The NFL hates Cleveland. Why the hell did it take three whole years without football to put together that crappy team/organization?
  13. Fox 8 Sends Angry Email After Communist Musician Criticizes Capitalism On-Air Posted By Eric Sandy on Mon, Aug 25, 2014 at 9:26 AM There's nothing quite like the sheer ecstasy of softball television news, and — boy, oh, boy — Cleveland has plenty of it. The latest bout of goofball arrogance cropped up Saturday morning. Fox 8 didn't post this interview on their website, but it did show up on Youtube. Blessedly, Lakewood Citizen captured the link and contextualized this interview between Fox's Autumn Ziemba and Boots Riley of The Coup, who was performing at the LKWD Music Fest later that day. http://www.clevescene.com/scene-and-heard/archives/2014/08/25/fox-8-sends-angry-email-after-communist-musician-discusses-communism-on-air
  14. The views are pretty sweet. I can picture this happening.
  15. I hate this, but it's the unfortunate truth. Downstream from Akron, rivers fill with trash and toilet paper By John Harper, Northeast Ohio Media Group AKRON, Ohio -- Near the trailhead to the towpath at Mustill Store, three bodies of water converge and with them, sewage and storm water runoff from nearly 200,000 residents. Where the Ohio Erie Canal meets the Little Cuyahoga and Cuyahoga rivers, Steve Postma pulls a neon green bucket out of the water. On a sunny Saturday afternoon the water was an opaque brown color, with spare patches of white foam emanating from a small waterfall. However, a quick pan over to the shoreline reveals a much different river than the one Postma was sampling that day. "Anything and everything that ends up in the streets or in the sewers ends up right here," said Jessica Ferrato, who oversees the entire Lake Erie watershed on behalf of the Sierra Club. http://www.cleveland.com/akron/index.ssf/2014/08/downstream_from_akron_rivers_f.html#incart_river
  16. Change in Akron happens on a glacial pace. For example they've been touting the future Highland Square grocery since 1999. I'm not sure if it's simply the economic limitations of a smaller city, or if it has something to do with their insular political climate. But it is very frustrating. Still it's nice to go downtown and see the Library, Art Museum, Towpath, Musica, Canal Park, etc. Something to build on.
  17. Since we're talking Perk Park area, just gotta give a shout out to Cedarland on E. 12th. Great great Lebanese spot with reasonable prices. http://www.yelp.com/biz/cedarland-express-cleveland The first time I was there I saw a gentleman eating a rice dish in proper Lebanese fashion - with his hands! I knew then that this place was the right place :-)

I want to Z in a Cavs uniform this year. I don't care how old he is, this year is going to be magic.

I still think think Hoyer is going to snap out of this, and show promise once again. Though I am intrigued and kinda want to see Manziel in on certain plays. And I'm actually a Chargers fan....so Coronado Bridge.

He's an expat Akron Beacon Journal guy. Perhaps he's one of the seven people from Northeast Ohio that believe there's actually an Akron-Cleveland rivalry lol.

What could we possibly be missing from this list of players? How could you not like this!! I especially want to believe that Dion and Thompson improve. They both seem to have the desire. What a great season this is going to be.

Peter King is speculating that if the Browns tank the season, they'll have two picks in the top five of the draft. Yeah Cleveland! Just 8 months until the draft woohooo!!!

^ I love Thoreau. At a glance it surely reinforces the "wrong side of the tracks" stereotype.
