And there goes my all South American final!!!
  2. Question for the Mods....do we need a separate thread for those who have benefited from Satanic activity?

  4. ^ Ha! But seriously, that intersection isn't even safe for pedestrians. And then there's the jaywalkers....and the drivers who blare their horns at cars that stop for pedestrians in the crosswalk....come to think of it, this intersection sucks!!
  5. I would agree. Living in NYC part time, I joke but at the same time serious about hating NJ. When I was in the process of selling the brownstone and was looking at condos, I wouldn't even look at unit if the view was of NJ. IMO, NJ is the armpit of America. NJ the armpit??? Home of the nicest beaches on the East Coast? You looking for a fight!??!!
  6. Can we make the Urban Ohio logo a Pentagram for a few months? There's no such thing as bad publicity......
  7. The Breuer Tower sure looks nice on ESPN :-) GO TRIBE
  8. The traffic chaos that a gas station would've created at THAT intersection....I shudder to think of it. Good on Cudell for getting back to someone. Let's see if we can get some pressure on those involved to up their game aesthetically.
  9. ^ Haha! Some of them are still here, hiding out in the suburbs. My friends parents live down in Wadsworth and are big into casinos. I asked them if they were excited to come up and see the Horseshoe. Mom just shook her head slowly "no" and Dad said "They put it right smack dab in the most dangerous part of the city. Nope. We'll stick with Erie and Atlantic City and Wheeling." I'm not quite sure whether I should flat out insist they come visit, or if I don't even want them here lol.

And to be used for leverage with the Heat. I don't think the Heat can possibly do anything else. Not enough payroll to go around.

^ agree that would be incredible.
  12. ^ Nice! I never realized the top of the County garage must have some really nice views of the field.

Z plane! Creepy ass show used to scare the hell out of me....
  14. Exactly. Agree. But the anti-Cleveland sentiment goes beyond the city and far off into the exurbs of Northeast Ohio. It's easy to say, walk along W25 on a beautiful weekend and see the positive change and all the potential. But there is a lost generation of people who won't even give themselves the chance to see this; their minds are made up and their decisions are validated by selective reading and watching the news. They will stay far outside the city limits for fear of encountering the inconvenience or "dangers" of the inner city.

Maybe Josh Gordon isn't an addict. Maybe he's just really really stupid.
  16. Hi Justine. I have all but given up cycling after too many close calls commuting Lakewood to Downtown. So I'm regrettably driving more that usual. If you are an experienced cyclist by all means keep at it. But for me personally, I just don't believe we have the bike infrastructure (yet) for me to recommend it. I've had many good experiences with RTA, though since my new office is no longer near Public Square I don' use it that often anymore. It's just so easy for me to drive to work right now. Best of luck on your car lite life!!
  17. Thanks I just sent this along to AP FU. Cudell Improvements is a joke. Aaron, This planned community, in principle, is welcome. However the architecture is not. This development looks like it belongs in Brunswick or adjacent to an exit ramp off I-71 in Medina. The style is simply not appropriate for the location. And if this development requires tearing down the mixed use buildings currently at the northeast corner, well that is simply depressing.
  18. I hate the way this looks, it's extremely out of character for the area. I get the sinking idea they're tearing down our urban buildings and turning us into Brunswick. Redirected from the Cleveland TOD thread in the transportation section...... I hate it too, though I 'd have a little less problem with this development if it is built north of the existing apartments-over-retail mixed-use building fronting Madison Avenue between West 116-117th -- accross the street from the Rapid station. The area north of this mixed-use building is pretty dumpy and needs some investment. But if the proposed single-use structure replaces a mixed-used structure across the street from a rail transit station, then I've got a big problem with that! The freaking W117 Rapid WAS DESIGNED TO LOOK LIKE THOSE MIXED USE BUILDINGS! So then you tear them down? Asinine! You're right - this should go north this is so frustrating. Just when I though I couldn't hate the Cleveland-Lakewood border any more....
  19. Very nice. I still contend there is not enough food available, there should be several cafes not just one. Especially given the mostly dead zone surrounding. Still this proposal is a momentous improvement. The thing that irks me is the look of Superior Ave through the Square. It's aesthetically divisive; the concrete looks awful and it visually breaks Public Square into two parts. All of Superior Ave within the square should be pavers. Keep the concrete on the periphery.

  21. You know everything Musky! Hey, let's get a kickstarter campaign going to rebuild the lighthouse ha ha.
  22. Here ya go! Lieutenant Colonel Jared A. Smith used the Cleveland Lighthouse, built in 1872 and considered by many to be one of the most beautiful lighthouses in the United States, as the basis for his plans for Braddock Point Lighthouse. Perhaps this was because Cleveland Lighthouse, rendered unnecessary by harbor lights, had been deactivated at the close of navigation in 1892 and was scheduled to be torn down in 1895, making the tower’s lens, lantern room, and decorative metalwork available for use elsewhere. Both of these towers and dwellings were built in the Victorian era and definitely showed signs of the then popular architectural style. CLE history http://www.lighthousefriends.com/light.asp?ID=282 Bradock Point Light PA - they stole our lighthouse! http://www.lighthousefriends.com/light.asp?ID=303
  23. It's the 1873 Cleveland Harbor Light. Amazing, right? Nobody knows about this. The only remnants are the stone steps that led to the keeper's house. They're on W 9th, under the Shoreway bridge.
  24. You can see some remnants of this down there!!
  25. Nice! Great addition to the hood. And now I'm missing Crooked River again. They had a good run down there.
