Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
The Mercado (for the love of God my friends and I can't stop calling it "Meximart") is awesome and here's a pro-tip only for UO.....on weekends they have a taco cart out front. And they are the best tacos around. I hope there aren't too many changes @ Mi Casita. The former Mi Puebla was great, even better than the east side locale.

This Soul Train moment would not have been possible if not for Cleveland's very own Dazz Band.

^ fair enough. It just seems like a wasted opportunity. There's good reason not to have the Market empty three days a week. If we can land a man on the moon - or at least fake it - we are more than capable of tackling this issue. Anyhow, I was wondering why I don't personally utilize WSM more for groceries. For one, the hours/days limitations we all know about. Also, when I'm typically there it's not just to run out for groceries, but to spend hours in OC. Usually I will refrain from buying anything that can spoil since I know I'll be at Great Lakes, Hansa Haus, Bier Markt, etc etc for hours. Problem: rancidity. Question: During the seven months when your car isn't an icebox is there anyone out there who will keep your WSM groceries refrigerated while you're out and about? If not.... Question: Does anyone want to go into the boutique refrigeration business with me (and I'm assuming Alan Glazen) ??

Why can't other venders apply for the spaces on Tues/Thurs/Sun?

Agree. Surprised the Rock Hall doesn't follow suit and cover the city with Beatles, Beach Boys, Jimi Hendrix, Rolling Stones etc. etc. Would bee nice to see more familiar faces downtown.

Good find. BUt I think it would be nice to have a thread for Ohio only.

^ bring it on over!!! I'll sell you this thread for nothing!

I'm not aware of a thread to celebrate Ohio's connection to popular music. This has the potential to be a long thread! Here's a start, Mark Kozelek's tribute to growing up in Massillon.

^ It's a mistake to park in those two lots on crowded days. What a nightmare. There are always spots available in the neighborhood.

Cleveland / Lakewood: The Edge Developments
^ I wouldn't be the least bit surprised Tick Tock, Papa Nicks, and all of those cool buildings lining Clifton had similar issues as with the departed Johnny Malloys/Gold Coast Diner.

Absolutely. Most everyone wants privacy but that shouldn't justify a lack of aesthetics.

Makes me wonder what in the world will happen with the Diner on Clifton/Twist building across the street.

Wow those suck. Look how these dwellings meet (or rather refuse to meet) to sidewalk. They are the architectural version of a "Keep Out" sign.

^ Yeah. This was a good move, considering the options. And equally good to hear the rock gym folks will be seeking out other churches to try out their wellness center concept. I commented that my only wish would be to see more units. This area needs a bit more density to keep these little shops open.

Lake Erie Restoration and Environmental Issues
Great idea C-Dawg! Lake Erie is nowhere near the magnet that it can be. Huge slabs of concrete form a man-made breakwall, also known as a revetment or seawall, along East Harbor State Park’s southeastern peninsula. Right there is a huge reason why our coastline is sub par; the all-out war on erosion has left the waterside looking just awful. The "hardening" of the coast represents years of bad policy and misguided effort. It's so worthwhile to set good practical measures in place asap to reclaim what's been lost - beaches and wetlands - even if it takes generations to remedy.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
And the family that nearly killed the Browns is continuing its awesome legacy of ruinous ownership... Randy Lerner to sell Aston Villa with club still on the road to nowhere American owner's eight years at Premier League club have been a tale of flawed decision-making and misplaced faith When one of the worst kept secrets in football was revealed, Randy Lerner sounded like a man who had long stopped living the American dream at Aston Villa. "I have come to know well that fates are fickle in the business of English football. And I feel that I have pushed mine well past the limit," Lerner said on Monday in a statement confirming his decision to put Villa up for sale. "The last several seasons have been week-in, week-out battles." It is a sad but inevitable end to an era that promised so much but delivered so little. Sad because Lerner had all the right intentions when he bought Villa in 2006 for £62.6m from Doug Ellis with his own cash. Inevitable because there is only so long any businessman, even a billionaire, will keep throwing good money after bad, especially when he ends up back where he started, which is where Villa and Lerner find themselves today. http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2014/may/12/randy-lerner-aston-villa

Cleveland: Downtown: Mall Development and News
^ agree I saw quite a few people playing ball and frisbee on Thursday! Sure I'd like to see the park turn into some amazing, unique draw. But sometimes there aint nothing wrong with a well-taken care of grassy field. Oh, and it would be so much better to have the mall continue north to span the tracks/shoreway. I so wish we could resurrect that idea vs. the narrow skywalk gerbil tube proposal.
