Oh no.... Would you be willing to approve a tax that would allow a new arena to be built in downtown Akron? Yes 43 % (521) No 57 % (693) Total number of votes: 1214 ohio.com
  2. ^ "1 & 2 Bedroom Lofts Already at 50% Filled Occupancy" It's funny how the addition of just one word takes away any chance for glass-half-full ambiguity or negativity. Positive spin in the CLE!!! Congrats Nick.

Because of the silence, I'm assuming that said gentleman is no longer with us. Anyhow, word from Zipsnation is that the idea is already being met with derision because of the tax increase. Oh Akron, please prove me wrong and get something done at a pace that is other than glacial.
  4. KJP I used to work in the Huntington! Loved it so much. THe lobby - amazing. I used to drag my friends through there to show it off and they couldn't believe it. Such a grandeur! And with the hidden retail inside it is truly a world unto itself; though I am hopeful that street presence can be improved somehow in the next phase of its life. I find it unlikely that this building will go unloved for much longer. Residential at that location is a no-brainer.

    Damn these are frustrating losses!
  7. Maybe I just lucked out.
  8. Wholly agree with your LAX assessment, yuck!
  9. For the region the flexibility of streetcars provide an opportunity for further rail expansion to areas like Beachwood, Lakewood and the Chagrin Highlands at a much lower cost than traditional light rail or heavy Rail. Coming from the Lakewood/CLE border on Madison, I'd personally go out of my way to use the streetcar going down Detroit or Lorain vs. taking the Red Line. And I am a bus-o-phobe...Im sure not the only one. Just get me to Public Square on a route that doesn't depress the hell out of me lol.
  10. Drove down E 9th today to grab a Phoenix Coffee. Seeing the outside work elevators going up and down on BOTH sides of the street at Breuer and Schoefield....sureal!
  11. ^ speaking of quick response, I saw a police cruiser doing maybe even 70 mph down Detroit. I was like wtf is happening?
  12. Or during the Super Bowl :-)
  13. Maybe I'm just getting lousy layovers, but I think the restrooms in Cleveland are some of the best. Definitely a notch above Detroit, San Diego and Midway.
  14. I love Frontier! And their talking animals...priceless. Also I think this is the right place to add that I had a great experience flying into the C L E on Delta. All kinds of free programing to watch (flight tracker!) clean new planes and very courteous service.
  15. Maybe I skim read too fast lol. you guys need to use "/s" sarcasm alert (facetiousness alert?) so careless readers, like myself, can "get your drift" as the kids say now.
  16. I'm content with this. Dare I'd say more, but cautiously happy right now. I am having a difficult time discerning Plan A vs. Plan B. I kinda wish there was some more close up renders to judge. Maybe there are? I'll re-check the article. Anyhow, good stuff. I think the mall is going to eventually become an attraction on its own merits. As well as the obviously vital link between Public Square and the North Coast Harbor. This hotel is nicely situated.
  17. I'm not sure why this has to be a white/black thing. I'm sensing antagonism between forumers and I'm not sure origin or of the purpose. If you're a violent metal head or violent wannabe gangsta, or violent fan of the Cleveland Orchestra it doesn't matter, you suck as a human being and don't deserve to be a free person. My community - the place where this happened - is white and black along with just about every other color you can imagine.
  18. And why does the "white community" allow these things to happen? I don't know if you guys are simply picking a fight with another forumer, but this behavior is disgusting. Anyone who buys a machete for the purpose of cutting some other person deserves to be permanently removed from society. It effing pisses me off to know that a majority of the perpetrators have not been caught. Who knows if the people arrested were instigators or merely defending themselves from these effing scumbags. We obviously need more jails.
  19. Hts it STARTED in Cleveland. The machete wielding idiots came to Lakewood. Fine. When is the last time anything remotely analogous (pack of thugs with these kinds of weapons attacking another group) happened in either City? Never. This is some unprecedented Game of Thrones type sh_t.
  20. Not exactly on point. The danger of going to Now That's Class isn't the patrons, at least not up until Sat. Every crime I've heard of - or experienced - involving NTC has to do with the patrons being robbed or assaulted by other folks after leaving, or having their cars broken into.
  21. It also wasn't some single idiot with a gun outside the bar at closing time firing shots because some girl dissed him. This was orchestrated to be planned chaos..... probably before the night even began. Machetes, shanks, brass knuckles, baseball bats, and knives? When is the last time you heard about that kind of mass riot here in Cleveland? Hts it STARTED in Cleveland. The machete wielding idiots came to Lakewood.
  22. If a bands fans were in fact on a domestic terror list, it's pretty irresponsible then to book them at your venue. From the accounts it even sounds that if the gunshots weren't fired the melee would've continued and there could have been multiple deaths.
  23. I'm back in the oh-io for a few weeks so I was snooping around yesterday. The architecture of the church is going to make this place very very interesting. There's ample room for outdoor dining. There is, however, not much parking at all; there are restrictions because of Harrison Elementary just across the street. I don't want to see any more houses in my historic neighborhood torn down. But enough with the negative. I'm shocked - in a good way - to hear the support for Bird Town to reclaim a semblance of it's commercial past. Don't ya think the cure for this hood is to renovate and repopulate all of the little storefronts? Just look over at Tremont for how to do it. Bird Town is too small to be Tremont, nor should it be imho...but it certainly can be Tremont-lite.
  24. There's a sign that says "no alcohol beyond this point" and I call that an invitation to drink! Then again, maybe the sign is like that trick-portable fire hydrant that Sheriff Roscoe used to give the Duke boys parking tickets all the time.
  25. To what do we owe the honor of this visit? Dazzle the District. Just coming up for the night to see the sights and sounds of the new Playhouse Square, try some of the food, and have a few beers. Well....did you know Star Plaza is one of the rare public places that allows for drinking? You can byob.
