Group Talks About Adding Restaurant/Brewery in Lakewood Posted by Jason Beudert on Thu, Apr 17, 2014 at 11:24 PM Rumors have been floating around recently about a small brewery possibly landing in Birdtown neighborhood. Residents go to hear some concrete details about just such a project tonight. This evening, representatives from the city of Lakewood and the Barrio Restaurant Group (Tom Leneghan and Sean Fairborn) laid out some preliminary plans to the Birdtown community for Birdtown Brewery & Pizzeria, a tentatively titled project that's very early in conception and approval stages. The group has the former St. Gregory the Theologian Byzantine Catholic Church (2035 Quail St.,Lakewood) under a letter of intent. 10,000 square feet inside would house a restaurant and a small brewery operation. The brew house would be one of the smallest in the region with only a three and half barrel system. "our plan is to create a neighborhood and boutique-driven brewery that is all about Lakewood pride," says Fairbairn. For now, much is up in the air, but the group is thinking food will be focused on pizza, should the sale and approvals all go through. The next steps for the proposed project include a Lakewood city planning commission meeting set for May followed by another community meeting.

The way Detroit Ave seems to be filling up reminds me so much of Short North Columbus, circa 1994. Culinary row.

Cleveland Guardians Discussion
I think it's time to phase out the Chief Wahoo logo. I am content with the dignity and history of the block C. I am intrigued by CBC's idea on tribe consultation for an update that's more in line with honoring them...that could be really cool.

I can not wait to make it down to check out the velodrome some day. Here in San Diego they have race nights with an MC that plays music between and even during the races. He also knows most of the riders so the crowd gets all kinds of cool background information about them. The races are awesome. And the best part, it's byob and there's food trucks there. Here's hoping there's the same sort of scene developing in the Village.

surfohio replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionUseless wall for sure. What a detriment. As Columbo said the upper floors of the initial renderings are kinda bland, but I really like what they're showing at street level. In contrast, the modern tower concept just looks foreboding.

It was the special mix of Anthony Allega concrete -- 4 parts water, 1 part concrete. Apparently they needed the bulk of the concrete for other jobs, like shoes for swimming out in Lake Erie. Ugh...man I hate the roads in Ohio.

^ Absolutely. And whatever happens, I sincerely hope that the new stuff is in the scale of the existing architecture, with through streets intersecting. Please no more monolithic blocks like the InJustice Center.
