  1. I heard around 5.00 RT
  2. And there went the chance of actually having a femaile in attendance lol.
  3. How about "not cool" of your friend? At what point are people responsible for their own behaviors? Don't walk down 58th by yourself late at night. 58th isnt what I'd call a bad street but it is the far edge of Gordon Square commercial district. It's pretty desolate between Detroit & the Parkview & could be full of surprises south of Detroit. The area is definitely on the upswing but you can't put yourself in unsafe situations, then be angry or surprised when bad things happen. At the same time, I'm glad your friend wasn't hurt Agree he shouldn't have been in that situation, and he knows that - lives in the area. He's not angry or upset, just glad to be alive.
  4. ^ This! That's the kind of infrastructure (and potential spinoff) that can connect the lakefront, and makes the gerbil tube bridge option a short-sighted proposition. The walkways are needed to defeat Hadrian's Wall along the south side of the tracks. Otherwise, you cannot walk south into the city. You have to walk through some inhospitable pedestrian settings. Walking to West 3rd is virtually impossible. The only option is to take the long way around via East 9th. That means hiking up a freeway entrance ramp and then through a windswept, brutalist environment of dead plazas, concrete and glass walls and no walk-in cafes or shops or anywhere else to take refuge from the wind which was measured stronger here than in any place in Chicago. The walkway directly south will enter into the warm interior of the convention center and take you directly to the convention center hotel which is in the heart of the central business district, near other hotels, restaurants and office buildings. Oh I know that a connection is needed. I just want to see something more substantial than the "gerbil tube." A well-designed transportation center could provide indoor travel in a much better environment; with much more varying degrees for spinoff development.
  5. I don't know the specifics yet. Probably alone, probably late. Interesting, he's a concealed carry owner. But since he was coming from a bar/restaurant he was not armed. This is the fifth time that a friend has had a gun to their head at the same location. Albeit, the last four times were a few years ago.
  6. I'd be happy just to get the drive in theater back.

  8. Just heard my friend was rubbed at gunpoint last night at W.58th and Detroit. He's okay. Not cool Gordon Square.
  9. I'm not really a fan of that walkway concept. I'd much rather see more ideas floated and just be patient for the best design/long term solution to bridging the tracks and shoreway.
  10. Yep!!!
  11. I'd suggest routing to the top of the Huntington Building. There you have proximity to both Playhouse Square and Progressive Field.

^ I echo the frustration for this taking so long, but the land acquisition is a complex process. The sooner this trail gets set, the sooner we're going to see it jump start all kinds of potential spinoff development.
  13. If the revenue projections are anywhere close to what they're reporting, this thing is going to happen. p.s. KJP they mean to dock at the convention hotel roof, so it looks like your zipline comment is right on!
  14. Fingers crossed that the engineering studies show that it's doable.
  15. What can we do to change zoning laws so that this is a requirement? It's so backwards right now I'm wondering if the builders need a variance to build to the sidewalk.
  16. Agree they were quality. I'm not exactly sold on that location.
  17. Shoot I forgot about this...it aired during the Browns game on Sunday.
  18. It's been closed for years now.
  19. Here's some inspiration for ya: http://www.raysmtb.com/
  20. ^ Nothing compares to the Rock-O-Meter
  21. Can't commit yet. I'd like to.
  22. Ha ha, wonder who that is???
  23. Jon Stahl's sky-high dream could start at the top of a hotel that has yet to be built. The top of a 30 floor building down to the Lakefront? Now that's going to be a major change in elevation.

Not to mention the QB they're likely to draft in the first round.
  25. Interesting. Retired FBI agent Phil Torsney returns to tackle unsolved murder of Amy Mihaljevic CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Former Special Agent Phil Torsney enjoyed every minute of his 29-year and two-month-long FBI career. The 57-year-old didn't feel quite the same way about retirement. That's why Torsney found himself standing on an isolated road in rural Ashland County just a few months after he capped off his FBI career with convictions in the case of infamous Boston mobster Whitey Bulger – a man Tornsey helped track down in 2011 after he had eluded the FBI for 16 years. Tornsey's new job is about a nine-hour commute from his Northern Michigan home. But he's back for one reason – her name is Amy. amy-mihaljevic-larkin-column.JPGView full sizeAmy MihaljevicPlain Dealer file Torsney was among the first agents that flocked to the Bay Village shopping strip where 10-year-old Amy Mihaljevic was last seen 24 years ago. http://www.cleveland.com/court-justice/index.ssf/2013/11/post_1.html#incart_river_default
