  1. Great news. That's one building that nobody will miss.

How could you not like "Orbit" the lovable scroungy cat?
  3. Clinic sounds like a bunch of arrogant jerks in this article.
  4. Just had breakfast at the Diner on Clifton. Rumor going around the staff is that this stretch of buildings will also be torn down.
  5. Comment: 19 Hours Ago Seems to me like he was testing the waters, and found out she's a boiling cup o' crazy.

Do you see Tristan and Andy in the same lineup? I'm intrigued because that's a lot of rebounding potential. Or would they just be in the way of each other?
  7. I'll second that. And I'm digging the San Diego hotel also. To me both hotels echo the "new city" look of the Science Center, Rock Hall as well as the adjacent Global Center.

Thought this might be a Kent State thread. Hey oh!
  9. I love this. Rooftops like this add such great ambiance and life to a city.

You mean transfer of "ownership" to a family member? I haven't heard much of anything about this issue since I moved in May. But another regime change, that would be terrible.

Waiting For Forever: Why All Cleveland Sports Teams are Doomed by Scott Raab Which brings us to the Cleveland Browns, a caricature of the team that once called Cleveland home. Debating the dearth of talent and depth on the roster is beside the point—who could possibly believe that Brandon Weeden will ever lead any NFL team to greatness? No, the Browns' overarching problem is owner Jimmy Haslam, currently awaiting indictment by the federal government on charges relating to his main business, Pilot/Flying J, after a years-long investigation by the FBI and the IRS resulted in a raid on corporate headquarters last April. Haslam has more or less admitted that his company defrauded hundreds of customers, while insisting that he knew nothing about any such malfeasance as Pilot's CEO. It's a fascinating defense for a blustering billionaire, and you needn't peruse the dozens of lawsuits filed against Pilot—or ponder the number of ex-employees who've admitted their guilt and agreed to testify for the feds—to grasp a couple of points germane to the Browns: 1. Jimmy Haslam is either a crook and a liar or he hires crooks and liars and pays little if any attention to the way they operate. 2. The NFL, which is ardently protective of its brand, won't sit idly by as the Pilot/Flying J case unfolds in the national media. http://www.clevescene.com/cleveland/waiting-for-forever-why-all-cleveland-sports-teams-are-doomed/Content?oid=3679221&utm_source=Weekly+eNewsletter+%28iContact%29&utm_campaign=f85eb4566c-October_16_Weekly_Newsletter10_16_2013&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_63c629abc4-f85eb4566c-35071729

Love the bat! I worked in Appalachia for four years. Can't say I'm in a hurry to ever get back there. But the place is filled with some great people.
  13. Reminds me of Olin Hall at the U of Akron
  14. I'll be rooting for this to happen.
  15. Lots of character I can see. Thanks for posting.
  16. The Beachland certainly has dedicated show-goers. But they also are like a regular bar in that they rely on a percentage of people to drop in regardless of who is playing.
  17. For Beachland to say the construction is the only result of their attendance lag is irresponsible. The street is a real mess and I don't see why the Beachland wouldn't also be hurt like the other businesses across the board.
  18. great video. This made me proud.
  19. When that adjacent school was rebuilt it could have shared a parking lot with the theatre.

  21. But that's going to happen with the planned multi-story apt. building which will rise along the boardwalk ...which we want, of course. I think this is a pretty healthy setback: http://www2.coolcleveland.com/images/002009/082609/EastBankFlatsDay.jpg

    Cursed.
  23. Agree. When you get closer to the water you don't want tall buildings shading out everything.
  24. This is going to be quite the transformation. The former drabness of that eyesore block will still be fresh in everyone's mind.
