  1. While nobody wants ads plastered absolutely everywhere I think the lack of them makes the city look forlorn. At least give the theater (and other entertainment) districts a built-in variance.
  2. Even new bridges sometimes have issues! One of my cases was the double leaf bascule MLK bridge in Toledo which, if operated, would have completely destroyed itself haha. I think about that one any time I drive over a bridge.
  3. There is so much wrong with this article I don’t even know where to start. But this treatment of erosion like it’s some kind of war to defeat the lake is outdated, drastically expensive and in the end is just going to create more problems.

I still have nightmares of the Property Bros. tearing up so many perfectly good hardwood floors [angry emoji]
  5. Imagining a world class public and private space for wellness and training. In proximity to the river and trails, future park space, residential and retail. Now imagine there's a right way to design this space, and there's the "Cleveland Clinic" way to design this space.

Some silver lining...to see the Steelers fans giving a standing ovation AND chanting his name was moving. A class act on their part. Also I was on r/nfl late last night and it was heartening to see so many other teams fans pulling for Nick. He is a true fan favorite and despite all the ups and mostly downs he was a real bright spot in Cleveland.

Tonight was the absolute epitome of Cleveland Browns football. Soul killing. And Watson is terrible.
  8. Great point. I've always wished the City would just donate lake or riverfront property for a collaborate Great Lakes research + education center inviting all the Ohio universities to take part.

^ I compelled myself to watch that and all I can think to say is that some people are just evil.
  10. ^ Agree. Cleveland from the lake looks like a different place altogether! @MayDay’s photo
  11. Also finally saw some building activity inside the very long ago proposed Birdtown Brewing Co. in Lakewood. If anyone has needed a good contractor in the past year or so you know how difficult the situation currently is.

Haslam is gonna maybe need a roof on that stadium asap for Watson lol. I've never seen him play well in any sort of weather. Impressive statement game for the D.
  13. Ugh, I still vividly recall Akron nearly beating Michigan, but for a deflected short pass into the endzone as time expired. :-(
  14. On-street parking slows traffic down. I hate how one way or no parking streets often turn into the Daytona 500.
  15. Quite a few forumers have been suggesting PHS as a media district, it's a good idea that just seemed like a no-brainer. [edit] oops wrong thread...sorry mods...please delete or move to playhouse square
  16. Huh. Does this even cover the costs of farebox operation and fare payment enforcement?
  17. Where my Italian ancestors all settled way back when. A neat little town.
  18. Sounds like you wanna add "Geneva on the Lake" but just aren't quite ready hahaha
  19. My friend who has lived in Ravenna for 40 years fully believes that the city officials are purposely trying to NOT make downtown Ravenna more attractive. Sounds ridiculous but he actually works for the city, so.....

^ What, the Center for Christian Virtue? That can't be a real thing.

I saw a similar article over the weekend and thought it was from the Onion.

The hilly streets in my SD hood turn into raging rivers that literally rush down the pavement straight into the ocean. This is just another reason it's a really bad idea to build right up to the waters edge. Same thing happens in the Flats too. All that urban runoff going straight into the Cuyahoga.
  23. The least protected historic district on earth = The Flats.
  24. I'm seeing a lot of the city kids on bikes lately. And skateboarding too. I love it.
