Cleveland: Downtown & Vicinity Residences Discussion
^ ^Well, this will further distance us from future NCAA events. I'm wondering if there's any chance they can improve their horrible street presence along Superior.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
The collective -gasp- I heard when they picked him over Barnes...I have a bad feeling. I'm certainly no authority, but I cannot see anything that points to him being a top pro player.

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
Right. I'm pretty sure in at least one of the Lakefront renderings the planners took this into account. North of Browns they oriented the streets diagonally, or in an "X" pattern to the water. Was supposed to cut down on the dreaded wind tunnel effect. With E 9th however, I'm not sure I'd want to block the view of the lake down that stretch. That glimpse of the water straight north is welcoming.

Cleveland: Rock and Roll Hall of Fame News & Discussion
There was an interesting article recently about Pearl Jam and their "legacy." Author holds them responsible for influencing Creed and Nickleback. That could be enough to blacklist them!

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
I got ya. My wishful thinking has the ground floors of those buildings filled with attractive retail. In my Lakefront Plan (a series of drawn on napkins) for Coney style I'd consider both East and West: Nautica Shooters Elm/Center St blocks toward Wendy Park - currently an underutilized no-mans land. West of Browns Stadium Scranton Peninsula The "pit" parking lot SE of Browns Stadium - can bridge North Coast Harbor with FEB. Tower City Ampitheater area - walkable from Gateway and Casino, very underutilized land, lots of parking. In my opinion a modern day version of Euclid Beach would be an incredible draw. Parents could use a low cost option to Cedar Point; we need more places for kids.

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
To me the renderings look like the new FEB. I think it looks fine for a waterfront. I've bought into the idea that that section of our Lakefront could be a "health and wellness" showplace. Coney Island-esque amusements could go on the West Bank. I'm curious what type of architecture would you rather see? Really, the devil is in the details. I'm not in awe of the architecture in Baltimore Inner Harbor. But it's sooo walkable. Everything in that vicinity connects just right so that it's a lively, pedestrian fueled thoroughfare. Contrast to here: now I distinctly remember walking up the side of a grass hill to get to the Science Center from the Rock Hall! No real connectivity unless you drive. We need those same ped-connections between our own attractions.

MAC: General Conference News & Discussion
This should be a great game on Saturday. Akron has a very good offense and is due for a win. Those close games with Buffalo and UMass should be a little concerning for Bobcat fans.

Cleveland: Retail News
Welp, that's it. If that's the criteria for most retailers then Cleveland is screwed. Goodnight everyone.

General: Complete Streets, Road Diets, and Traffic Calming
I'm pretty sure nobody advocated what you're suggesting. That is, removal for aesthetic reasons alone. some people are suggesting this and it is valid reason IMO as it ages opens up the possibility of its replacement and what effect it's demolition would have on the neighborhoods around. Biker, I think you and I have different understanding of "aesthetic reasons alone" ha ha.

Cleveland: Rock and Roll Hall of Fame News & Discussion
Speaking of influence, what exactly did Bon Jovi influence? More hair bands?? If having a lot of hit songs/success is the barometer, I shudder to think who will be nominated in the future.

Could it be Edgewater's proximity to bad neighborhoods?

Cleveland: Shoreway Boulevard Conversion
I respectfully disagree. The Tillman ramp is awful to drive on. The way it's set up to enter Shoreway going west is a disaster trying to merge - and it's not due to traffic; it's because there's a blind curve preceding it! If it was actually used more the result would be a complete bottleneck.

Come on Spock, get Venus off your mind! You actually don't think there is an argument to how much real estate this could open up? It's interesting to consider. Sounds like you're taking your ball and going home with that post lol.

^^ I propose a cost benefit analysis of the idea. There is absolutely nothing hypothetical about our roads budget, it's real. As for the bridge, generally those types are of certain height to allow for ships, they only open for larger ones. Luckily we have three other bridges crossing the river unaffected. ^ I honestly don't see that traffic crippling the city. Especially the Flats, which we'd be hard pressed to see traffic there as we did in the 80s/90s. Now if we're talking changing the Shoreway/90 East of downtown, I'm with you. That change including the Interstate has many more issues.

Really, what is so unworkable about this idea? Lets see a study to determine just how much valuable real estate is created by this. And of course the traffic studies.

Lots of icons are torn down. Maybe it's in our best interest to seek out an alternative. Who could tell. Wouldn't it be interesting to see a cost-benefit analysis? It sure would. Be sure & include reduced property values all across the Warehouse District & new FEB project, since they'd no longer have the Shoreway accessible. See above. What wouldn't be accessible? You could still have a boulevard running east/west. The WHD and Flats existed - THRIVED - before the Main Ave Bridge ever existed.

I personally think you're overvaluing the West Shoreway. It's not the end of the world if it ends up looking like Clifton Blvd. And through the Flats, you could see a bridge like this:

Speculating here of course. But the Shoreway could still function as street. Traffic would move through the Flats and cross the river via drawbridge. This is actually how it used to be. So under that scenario who knows - Clifton traffic could get more/less/same traffic as now.

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
I'll gladly celebrate Marktoberfest with all of you. And really, at this point do the venders even have to open to have a big event? I'd be content with having the doors of the Market open just to walk through. The neighborhood is enough of a draw as it is.

^ anyone have insight on when the bridge will need replaced? Interesting. I'm trying to imagine how life would be without it. I'd miss the convenience and the views, but it would be even nicer to see them finally chisel out all of those Jersey barriers in Ohio City, Warehouse District and E 9th exit. It's doubtful a Main Ave. replacement bridge (drawbridge?) would need the same type of infrastructure. I imagine Detroit and Lorain - and the Flats obviously - would become much more active routes.

How about late September or Early October....something like...an Oktoberfest??? Seems a natural fit to me.
