Right on. I can see the concern from coming off surgery. Otherwise, it's confounding. Ya know, there is a template the Browns should be following right now. And that is the Chargers circa 2006. Cam Cameron made LaDainian Tomlinson the focus of the offense. This not only put the ball in the hands of their best player; it gave Philip Rivers a chance to grow into the QB role. If defenses overplayed the run, Rivers had the ability to exploit single coverage to keep the other side honest. They were best when he'd throw 12-20 times for 180 yards, hardly spectacular but it won games. I think Weeden has this same ability. And like LT, Richardson is a special player that you can build off of. So take the pressure of the QB and play to your strengths. Make sure you've got WR's that 1. can block 2. catch and 3. have one guy fast enough to run motion into the backfield for handoffs/misdirection.
  2. Agree we shouldn't have to wait another 100 years for another big party! That was tremendous. Very well attended despite the rain. And one can only imagine how much bigger the crowds would've been in nicer weather. Also, the event allowed more people to easier discover the more "fringe" attractions; ie W25 south of Lorain and Lorain west of W25. p.s. talked to owner of Hansa Haus, expecting construction to start very soon!

I can't help but think of Waynes World with Wayne and Garth in that Pacer. That car, at that moment was so uncool it was cool.
  4. Really glad they could keep the cool trees :-)
  5. it is less the building that bothers me and more the parking lot next to it. I got ya. The lot is terrible.
  6. Rascal House has very nice street presence; it's friendly and accessible looking. This is in stark contrast to many of the CSU-created buildings that appear impersonal. Besides, as another poster stated, Euclid is a historic street and it makes the most sense to realize and compliment what is pre-existing.
  7. Do you expect the footprint to extend beyond Canal Road? I suppose I don't know what to expect really. We could really use some coastal development regs that ensure public access to (and along) the river/lake. Only then I'd stop worrying. I've said it before regarding our well-being, we put way too much faith in the hands of developers in this town.
  8. Agree and this is why I think mixed use can do a ton of good. Say the County moves into Huntington and the whole building remains office space. That's great 9-5, but nights and weekends it's still a huge dead space. Now somehow add residential (or hotel space) into the mix on select floors and the place is buzzing with activity 24-7. It doesn't necessarily need residential to pull that off either. As long as the building is not solely office space along its street edge and instead has a retail component that will ensure some life outside of the 9-5 crowd. Then I would actually argue for increased retail, making full use of the ground floor bank atrium. There is already retail in Huntington but it's limited to 9-5 and doesn't draw from outside the building. I don't see how simply adding the County improves this condition, unless there are alterations made to the outside of the building which will never happen. I imagine the County would want to utilize the bank atrium, but that space could get a lot more usage as a restaurant/retail space. And having a residential component to huntington would provide support.
  9. My first thought was how much spinoff potential still on Lorain and W25 south of Lorain. Strangely enough, the master plan (boulevard concept) appears to downplay potential retail north of Bridge. To me it makes sense to redevelop street friendly presence in front of both the hospital and Riverview towers. Especially with Riverview, it should get the same treatment that The Triangle got in UC.
  10. This guy was great. And athletic. p.s. Check out 5:01
  11. Brooklyn is ready to allow chickens, if they're quiet Published: Thursday, October 04, 2012, 9:01 AM BROOKLYN -- If everything goes as planned, council will pass an ordinance at its meeting Oct. 9 making it legal to raise chickens in Brooklyn. Introduced by Councilwoman Colleen Coyne-Gallagher, the ordinance will allow residents to own up to six chickens on a standard residential lot of 4,800 square feet. According to city officials, there are already a number of chicken coops with chickens in the city, but at this time they are illegal. The ordinance will also place restrictions on the types of coops and the sizes of the enclosures allowed on a residential lot. http://www.cleveland.com/brooklyn/index.ssf/2012/10/brooklyn_is_ready_to_allow_chi.html
  12. Okay, well, thanks gottaplan and Believeland1 for ruining my rare good mood! I also thought this was the beginning of the boulevard concept - an intersection.
  13. Wow. So will we be seeing any renderings soon? I'm concerned that the parking deck won't leave enough room to develop along the river.
  14. The image used for Columbus is not a good one.
  15. ^ Butcher shop right next to Lolita is what I remember reading here on UO.
  16. I give Mayor Jackson and friends (and the Governor) credit for recharging this project.
  17. Not sure if you're aware, but there's been some good articles on how John Kasich's bright and sunny outlook has been a thorn in the side of the Romney "doom in Ohio" campaign message. Being a recovering Fox insider, I wonder if the Governor will find some time onscreen?
  18. This is the stupidest part. HE should be gaining the most from developing across the street. I love Nauti Mermaid, but his sentiments obviously bother me, and make me want to spend elsewhere. He reminds me of that Pizza Guy - at Sainatos - who was upset over construction of the skate park by Rivergate. Pizza Guy would rather see the area around him remain a foreboding wasteland? Wake up dummies!
  19. When I read that restauranteurs lobby to keep surface parking, it's obvious that not everyone is on the same page, and that the place is in danger of stagnating. There needs to be more leadership to break away from the status quo. Compare this to the aggressive positive changes in the Market District.
  20. I'm starting to get the impression that John Kasich appreciates Cleveland a bit more than his predecessor.
  21. Agree I'm underwhelmed. I still say that the closing of Phoenix Coffee was a major red flag. WHD should be a premier neighborhood, but for some reason, it just isn't.

    ^ looks like a war!
  24. Parking? Really? I wonder if its feasible to add a hotel or apartment complex on top of this. Parking in that area is one thing that is not needed. If the long term vision of the lakefront is to be realize we're going to need a lot more, newer parking options. No more surface lots - I hope. Best to incorporate parking with the hotels/apartments you've suggested. Why can't we connect the lakefront by building rail stations into the plan? I know that makes too much sense and in reality, it is what it is, but parking is never a solution. Oh I'm in full agreement with you. I just think the best thing for the lakefront is to get as many people down there asap. I think a rail station connector to the waterfront is a tremendous idea. But ample, hidden-away parking should be a big component to the overall plan.

I'll be really surprised if Shurmer is the coach next year. Browns fans deserve a proven winner, not someone who is learning on the fly. As an aside, I really can't stand Shurmer's press conferences. He and Eric Wedge - just terrible to listen to.
