Akron: Random Development and News
The restaurant/bar in the outfield could use some sprucing up for sure.

Parking? Really? I wonder if its feasible to add a hotel or apartment complex on top of this. Parking in that area is one thing that is not needed. If the long term vision of the lakefront is to be realize we're going to need a lot more, newer parking options. No more surface lots - I hope. Best to incorporate parking with the hotels/apartments you've suggested.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
I do. Joe Flacco is coming into his own, and the absence of Joe Haden will be felt. Again. Flacco is coming back down to earth tonight! Sure they'll miss Haden. Still I'd bet you a shiny dime the Browns defense will confound the Ravens (and us) by returning to their Philly game type effort.

Cleveland: TV / Film Industry News
Serious Question. Is a studio at the market needed and why? What is the function of the space? Who uses this studio? Why is it built there? What infrastructure around it can be currently used? Why needed? Function? Connect audiences/shoppers with highlighted food products. Provides exposure, maybe market testing opportunities. Renting out the space to restauranteurs or t.v. production could be profitable. Possibly charge public for admission. Who uses? Local and guest chefs/brewers/venders/farmers/Monsanto/etc. Local or national media opportunities. An independent venue will be more hospitable than an existing bar or restaurant. Why there? This is the most important aspect. WSM is our premier food district. It's iconic and special enough that it could and should grow even more as a destination. Unlike just another bar or restaurant, the concept adds another dimension to the neighborhood; it's different. The critical mass of the Market District allows for restauranteurs/brewers outside the neighborhood (and region) to profile their products to a largely already existing audience. What infrastructure? Not sure; still lots of unused space along W. 25th. TV production requirements have never been more affordable.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
The Ravens defense is old and living off of their legacy. I witnessed the Chargers roll up 34 points on them by going right at them with pass after pass. If Weeden can complete some quick passes and keep the chains moving, the Browns can win this one. I have no doubt the defense will step up tonight.

Great then, we need more devoted and experienced teachers like you. My wife has worked both as a teacher and an administrator. One good thing about her charter school experience; she was able to take on a wide array of responsibilities within her school. Taking on numerous responsibilities has allowed her to explore just about every facet of education.

This reminds me of an idea: build a tv studio space adjacent to the market. It would be beneficial for both local and guest chefs/brewers/venders/farmers/etc. to better engage the public. Make it iconic. It helps local and national media promote the city and adds another dimension to the market experience.

Getting a public school job is tough, nearly impossible in the good districts. There are a lot more opportunities in the charter schools. Some charters are good but some are just terrible. They take advantage of the teachers, and many of the students will be unruly and come from troubled backgrounds. There's a very high teacher turnover rate from lack of support and general burnout. This can be why there's so many openings each year. Beware of any school connected to White Hat Management. They may be better today, but I can assure you they were an awful company to work for five years ago.

Surfing is admittedly tough. This is actually the biggest growing sport here (and just about everywhere else) - Stand Up Paddleboarding. It's perfect for Lake Erie, which is flat most of the time. If there are no waves, no problem, you have this cool paddle! I can't recommend a "SUP board" enough. I'm with you, I grew up on both oceans and hate feeling landlocked. So I try to get out on the water as much as possible. With SUP-ing, all it takes is a little bit of practice and you're doing it in no time. Here's the local shop, it's in Rocky River: http://nalusup.com/

We get waves! Mostly in Fall and Winter. No it's not the North Shore by any stretch, but you'll find surfers from all over the world, including Hawaii, who have been relocated here for work or family. Shameless self promotion alert: I made a documentary about the surfing culture here in Ohio called Out of Place. Please check it at www.outofplacemovie.com. If you splurge for a good 5 mil. wetsuit you can surf all through the winter.

Ouch. I agree Scene jumped the shark a while back. The best thing out there right now is Buzzbin Magazine. It covers Cleveland, Akron and Canton. It's much more in-depth into local music; true to the way Scene used to be in the 90's. Unfortunately it's a little harder to find Buzzbin around. http://www.buzzbinmagazine.com/home/- Cleveland: Local Media News & Discussion
Shoot. Can't recall if it was Bull and Fox or Ken Carmen: caller asks how much the roof on the stadium would cost and the host repeatedly answers "5 million dollars." Then, he eventually corrects himself that it will instead cost "500 million dollars." Do'h!- Cleveland Browns Discussion
Whoa, the comments section is brutal. Entertaining, but brutal.- Canal Basin Park and Lake Link Trail
Right, this does look like a promising start. This is an exciting project. Can't wait to see how it all unfolds.- Cleveland Browns Discussion
This team is once again, unwatchable. I think we're seeing that the Browns are going to need all the planets in alignment if they're going to (somehow) win games this year.- Cleveland: Midtown: Development and News
Awesome! Open up all those former windows. I hope that guy with the sledgehammer is kept really busy around CLE for the next ten years.- Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
jborger mentioned how many Browns fans would love to live right there by the stadium. It's hard not to agree. Imagine the neighborhood...it would be a mecca of tailgating.- Cleveland: Downtown: Huntington Bank Field
^ Naming rights... there ya go, another idea that just makes too much financial sense to ignore. The Fan 92.3 is ground zero for this discussion. Baskin or Phelps (sorry i can't tell their voices apart) responding to some fans who think it's a waste of money: "If you think this roof proposal is only about Browns football, you're living in the stone age. It's bigger than that. This is a move toward bringing Cleveland back onto the world stage." I like this comment! Both of these guys are very passionate.- Cleveland: Downtown: Huntington Bank Field
The Corna proposal always looked so cool. I'm all for this, it makes so much sense. But I don't ever want to see the Browns play with the roof closed. I love the blizzards! That's Browns football, and I don't want to see the local team turn into the scared-of-the-cold Vikings or Lions. Unlike Vikings or Lions fans, the fans in Cleveland will support this team despite the weather. p.s. "Retractable roof" is a much better sell than "dome" which is a term that still has tons of negative connotations.- Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
Nice! Exclusive interview: New Browns owner Jimmy Haslam isn’t the boss yet, but he’s working hard On lakefront development: “We’re highly interested in seeing that area develop. One, it’s great for Cleveland, and two, I think it’s great for the Cleveland Browns. What our role in that is, I don’t know enough to comment. But are we interested in seeing that happen? Absolutely. I’ve been very impressed with the amount of activity downtown and it looks like Cleveland is on the upswing economically. I know there are several projects that are at least in the talking phases. But we’d love to see that happen. http://tucsondawgpound.com/2012/08/exclusive-interview-new-browns-owner-jimmy-haslam-isnt-the-boss-yet-but-hes-working-hard/- Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
I myself will shell out $10 for this place. What a great great resource for Detroit. Thanks for posting!- Cleveland: League Park
