  1. Again I'm reminded of how cool Euclid Ave looks. To me it just seems dramatic, like even the 60's buildings find a way to fit in and add to the streetscape. And to think of how much potential still lies ahead. Great pics Euro!!
  2. Good for OC! I bet this place will get lots of attention. These little bits of makeshift retail could work wonders. No reason not to believe the concept couldn't work on Public Square or the Rock Hall.
  3. I actually can't wait until DS and Tremont are are actually connected by the towpath/lake trail. This new and convenient connector will be a huge plus for both neighborhoods.
  4. Definitely Barroco has been a treasure for Birdtown. Next time you're in the hood go a block west and hit up Mahall's as well. This is the coolest place in the world, new owners came back from Brooklyn NY to save the place. They've upgraded the menu in a big big way, and the guy from Barroco is sometimes the guest chef. http://mahalls20lanes.com/
  5. Great pics!!! I love Baltimore. What a great waterfront. Their ballpark aint too shabby either.

My home town (Brick, NJ pop 75,000) had less than 1 percent black residents. There was an uproar over this "fair share" issue, and from what I remember the town worked out a sketchy deal where they would accept only elderly low-income housing. Other cities were not happy. Brick has a reputation for being safe, a good portion are white-flighters from up north. Lawrence, KS—After years of waiting, Brick, New Jersey at last has claimed the title as America’s Safest City. The announcement was made in the new edition of City Crime Rankings, an annual reference book of crime statistics and rankings slated for publication this week. It’s safety record is impressive, with no murders or rapes reported. Brick also boasts the lowest overall violent crime and robbery rates among cities across the nation. http://www.morganquitno.com/safecity.htm

I can't stand Bynum. The guy's a head case who was unreliable under under both Phil Jackson and Mike Brown. If he can't be motivated to play on a championship caliber Lakers team, how is he going to act on a team like the Cavs?

I love the way the city looks from the water. Very very cool. Thanks for posting!!

^ Very impressive! I particularly like the RRHOF inspired bridge art. I don't think the city plays up the connection to rock music history enough.
  11. That would be a major loss for the Film Festival. The fact that it's downtown and under one roof is a major aspect of its allure.
  12. Thanks! Agree, they'd look perfect for an outdoor patio space. I'm sure the Lizardville (and YMCA if done the right way) will inject a good dose of sidewalk activity for the Galleria.
  13. Ha! It is essentially the headquarters that Dr. Evil would come up with.
  14. ^ I always loved those wavy trees. Anyone know what kind they are?
  15. Thanks for the info, that's pretty cool to know. I think that unique space has a bright and interesting future. I'm not as critical of the building, by far the HUGE glass wall is its best feature. I'm holding out hope that the setbacks/sidewalk presence won't be too dysfunctional. Really the Justice Center is such an awful trainwreck that anything at all is an upgrade compared to it.
  16. I honestly can't tell you the last time I paid to park downtown at night or on a weekend. It's laziness, but from talking with people Igather it's the perception of the city being unsafe that's also part of it.
  17. This must not be a very lively city because I don't see any surface parking. Something should be done about that.... -Sincerely, Autocentric Suburban-type Guy Seriously tho, another nice set of pics, thanks for posting!
  18. When I read your comment earlier I immediately thought of Apple's new digs way out in suburban nowhere. Then this convenient article magically appears! The parallels to the tech future of Midtown are insightful. What Cupertino, California is getting (a suburban spaceship) vs. What Cupertino, California needs (urbanity: a more walkable, people friendly environment) The opportunity that Apple is missing to build a better neighborhood I never intended to become so knowledgeable about Apple, Inc.’s new “spaceship” headquarters being developed in Cupertino, California. Really, I didn’t. But the design seemed to me to be way overscaled for humans and particularly wrong for a classic slice of California sprawl that is begging to be retrofitted into a more walkable and people-oriented environment. Apple is already a world leader in consumer technology; this was its chance to be a world leader also for community-oriented sustainability. http://switchboard.nrdc.org/blogs/kbenfield/the_opportunity_that_apple_is.html
  19. Yes! Kinda like Big Fun, but on steroids. I mean it, it's something like 11,000 sf of awsomeness. Oh- and the best part is that co-owner Damon is an artist that sculpts fantastic retro-look robots and the like:

Super! What town? ap!! the town was hopping and its even more revived than ever. the downtown cookman aka main st strip is almost fully back to life. its really undergone an amazing transformation. ocean grove was nice as always too. got my cle tix but still havent decided about georgia vs the world yet. Great to hear! My mother in law graduated from APHS way back when, she lives like 15 min away and I don't think she's been there in 20 years. For so long Asbury Park was a place to be avoided.... I'm looking forward heading out there soon.
  21. Seriously, this place is amazing! The Bomb Shelter vintage shop in Akron sells long-lost childhood treasures: Full House (video and gallery) By Julie Washington, The Plain Dealer AKRON, Ohio -- I was sitting in the parking lot at the Bomb Shelter, Akron's way-cool vintage/resale shop, when a rusted 1951 four-door Buick pulled in. A man with car tattoos up his arms got out, strode to the store and put his key in the lock. He turned out to be co-owner Damon Drummond, who, as I'd later learn, is the kind of offbeat guy who makes a 1951 Buick his everyday car. It was obvious, before I had even pulled out pen and pad, that my visit to the Bomb Shelter wasn't going to be an ordinary interview. The Bomb Shelter is all about giving a second (or third) life to the stuff from our childhoods, as well as offering the stuff we covet as adults. Once the store's two dogs give you an approving sniff, you'll enter a wonderland: wicker furniture, a finished "Last Supper" paint-by-numbers, a Wooster City Motel neon sign, coin-operated kiddie boat ride, glockenspiel, motorcycle suspended from the ceiling and a collection of rotary phones. Drummond, 46, is the picker. He was buying and selling at the Hartville flea market before eBay was even dreamed about. Now he drives around buying stuff from estate sales, auctions and flea markets. read the rest here: http://www.cleveland.com/insideout/index.ssf/2012/07/the_bomb_shelter_vintage_shop.html
  22. Now THAT is unfortunate.
  23. Sure the winter season is a concern, but certainly Crocker Park has the same issues. I do like your idea for both outdoor and indoor entrance options. Larger stores at every indoor mall are set up with multiple entrances so I don't see a problem there. Would make for a very nice setup. Access for smaller retail may be tricky.
  24. They currently play games off campus @ Lakewood High School.
  25. You know I agree with you on this. It just makes too much sense that I fear the city wont think of it. It would require the powerbrokers to work together toward a pedestrian-centric attraction. What are the chances? But to think that this could someday be the Cuyahoga/Tower City:
