  1. For many, E 9th is the welcome mat for downtown. And it's not a very good one at that. Developing that block will really help clear up that "dead zone" perception. Especially if it will be non-governmental, as the article suggests.
  2. ^
  3. Are you're talking about the "Rock-o-Meter to Waterloo" rumor*? You can't leave UO hanging!! We deserve gossip. *that I just made up
  4. That sounds promising. I'm sure Rock Gaming will have their eyes on the Rock Hall and their plan to accommodate visiting boats.
  5. My issue with Caesar's is the decor and architecture. They can get pretty tacky with the fake columns and statues etc. Fine for Vegas and AC, but not for CLE. If I see something that looks even remotely like the Parthenon rising above Huron I pray Barbarians will destroy it. But in all seriousness, I think we're all glad that they toned down the western theme at the Horseshoe.
  6. Skywalks! :) Motion to ban jborger from the exclusive "boardwalk club."
  7. Right. That is just unacceptable.
  8. Beautiful! Love it. Plus you can connect Extension 1 and 2 by continuing along the eastern side of the peninsula. If Sherwin is against public access (they have been rumored to be in the past) it's maybe possible to construct the boardwalk out over the river in that section. Wouldn't be easy dealing with the Army Corps and all of the Fed navigable river type constraints I'm sure though. Groups advocating for public access to the river/lake could help to steer Dan and Co. away from a "nothing but parking" approach to this area. Again, this would be a terrible waste of waterfront property. Smart, forward thinking cities usually don't allow for that to happen.
  9. This entire span of riverfront has so much potential. With the Rib Festivals and TC Ampitheater events I've attended the area has been a very good host. With some targeted investment it could become quite a diverse and attractive locale. Does anyone believe that with Phase II casino on the way, that there is any chance for this space to develop for retail and recreation? It could be a fantastic "riverfront door" to the Casino. And the arena. And the ballpark. Plus if Commuter rail is still in the mix, with good planning that could be another tremendous advantage. Or is this just another stretch of valuable waterfront property that's cursed for with surface parking?
  10. Super, I'm looking forward to some quality time there this summer. Thanks!
  11. If Dan wants those walk-up Indians and Cavs fans, he's going to have to tread lightly.
  12. Reddstone on W. 76th has goat cheese pizza. Their patio bar is now officially open also. I wonder (am hoping) they still have their insane weekly taco and wing specials. Their website doesn't list any specials or happy hours. Attn: Reddstone. This is useful information. Maybe they have more updated on facebook?
  13. ^ Bingo!! But honestly, they have ways of tinting windows. A brick wall is usually a brick wall for the life of the building. The Crooked River Brewng building was much more suited for the site.
  14. I don't... Flynt, with his vast resources + the relocation $, would just build another joint, this time, perhaps, closer to one of the City's up 'n coming areas. I know some on the FWB griped when he moved to his current location from Old River Rd, but at least he's shoe-horned next to Diamonds Mens club, and a drab, industrail area of the Flats. To be clear, it's not so much the nature of the business I'm against (though, I do think its siting sends a bad message to neighborhood residents). It's the architecture of the building that is offensive. It's terrible. You should not be able to construct a windowless building. The future of the Flats absolutely depends on being walkable.

At this rate we won't even need the bridge. Because of Hover cars.
  16. You're hired. Welcome to the...team? p.s. If your island concept involves destroying the Hustler Club in the process, I support it.
  17. Found this very interesting: "The typical route for a European traveler is to hit New York, then go across New York State via Buffalo and Niagara Falls," explains Hamilton. "Then they swing down and go to Chicago. Cleveland is right on that path and [Raymond] should pick up a good deal of that traffic."
  18. Imagine the potential. And your boardwalk is leading here:
  19. There's another option though. If necessary, you could curve the boardwalk into the street in front of these businesses. Actually, check it out on google, this could be the better option.
  20. This would be awesome. Those classic buildings have soo much potential. The boardwalk remaining disconnected to everything surrounding would be a major failure.
  21. I can agree with that! I really hope the built environment around the cuyahoga river is drastically different 10 years from now. I am okay with the boardwalk placement in the rendering. It looks nice. My bigger question is "where will this boardwalk lead?" The best possible answer is "to another series of boardwalks." The best boardwalks in the world are connectors, with varying sections of inter-spersed "peace and quiet" areas and the "action on the water" areas that Hts. referenced above. With good planning! residential and retail can transcend both. The time to consider a boardwalk master plan is right now.
  22. Rebuild the Hippodrome.
  23. Good find. Looks welcoming. Anything to take the visual emphasis off the building is a good thing. It's maybe the color of the brick. Maybe it just looks cheap or dated, but the building always reminded me of project housing.
