Cleveland: Jack Cleveland Casino
Good to see that that construction of the bridge/tube is delayed to another phase. More time to improve it or better yet, drop it altogether. I am looking forward to Phase II. The plaza design they are depicting looks really sharp, and would be a tremendous improvement for the city. I'm surprised to see the casino video screen going up on the parking garage (fig. 11, 12). I've always thought that Jacobs Field garage was terrible urban planning, and that it should be restructured to accommodate retail along the sidewalk. But what do I know...Gilbert knows best. All in all, the hot wheels set looks better to me than the previous renderings. But make no mistake, this welcome center will essentially be an island in a sea of cars. The renderings only confirm this point.

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
But what about the "major announcement" the Dan Gilbert promised lol? Maybe this was just a slick ploy to distract us as he started personally breaking the windows of the Columbia. p.s. tonight I have a major announcement....I'm drawing up my own lakefront plan on a napkin. It's awesome.

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
I don't know, but none of the Market District planning future plans floating around keeps that plaza in it's current, suburbanesque incarnation.

Yeah I'm a little worried about the silent treatment this is getting. I think it's a brilliant plan.

Nice shot!! For a few weeks now, I thought this thread should be named CRANEWATCH 2011.

Results of my informal, unscientific poll
We in Northeast Ohio lack that ONE place where everyone goes. That magnet kind of place. A place that attracts diversity and every age group. That's free to go to. I was lucky to grow up with a place like this. Cleveland needs a boardwalk.

Cleveland: Warehouse District: Development and News
This is terrible news. Phoenix is a first class operation. They have knowledgeable employees, friendly service and a great local product.

Last mission of our Navy ship USS Cleveland (LPD-7)
This was the third ship named after the city of Cleveland. Slide show here: http://www.signonsandiego.com/photos/galleries/2011/aug/04/uss-clevelands-bittersweet-homecoming/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Cleveland_%28LPD-7%29

Cleveland: Local Media News & Discussion
Kiley and Booms was number one nationally when Fox Sports pulled the show (rather than pay them) in 2002-ish. Booms is the comedian and Kiley has cred as an nfl player. Good chemistry. I'll listen to them more than I would Mike and Mike, I think. But I will most likely turn to Rizzo's show at 9am. The Bull? Never heard of him before.

Inside North Korea AP photos
This is absolutely surreal. Inside North Korea Aug 2, 2011 | 126 Earlier this year, David Guttenfelder, chief Asia photographer for the Associated Press, along with Jean H. Lee, AP bureau chief in Seoul, were granted unprecedented access to parts of North Korea as part of the AP's efforts to expand coverage of the isolated communist nation. The pair made visits to familiar sites accompanied by government minders, and were also allowed to travel into the countryside accompanied by North Korean journalists instead of government officials. Though much of what the AP journalists saw was certainly orchestrated, their access was still remarkable. Collected here are some of Guttenfelder's images from the trip that provide a glimpse of North Korea. http://www.theatlantic.com/infocus/2011/08/inside-north-korea/100119/

Then a European shower will do the trick, haha. Does that include rubbing a croissant all over ones self!! surfohio , you left yourself so open. This one is way to easy. I'm going to let this one slide! :) Thanks MTS! My morale today is low enough lol.

Cleveland: Downtown: East 4th Street Developments
Just being honest. The shower would be alluring, but that would tack on more time and it's not necessary. Luckily I am not really a bad sweater ha ha. Right now I ride right up to right to my building with a change of clothes waiting at my desk. Time and cost are the most important factors for me. Coming from Lakewood it currently takes me 25-30 min. via bike. Driving plus parking (at the cheapo lot!) takes the same exact amount of time. So for me, the bike station adds both costs and time that's not really in my budget right now. But I know a lot of people are going to love it.

I really love the concept, and hope it takes off. But it's too far from my office in the Galleria to really be convenient enough for me.

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
Got off the shoreway in Ohio City yesterday evening, only to be greeted by a naked man in the middle of the W. 25th street. He was just kind of flaunting himself and shouting nonsense. There was an ambulance parked nearby, but none of the paramedics seemed at all interested in getting out. I'm not really sure how this all ended.

"Diner, Drive In or Dive" in Vermilion or Sandusky
I recommend the Main Street Soda Grill in Vermillion. Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
I have an issue with the "too cold" theory. There are numerous examples of good coastal planning in Michigan, Wisconsin, Maine, Minnesota, Alaska, Nova Scotia, etc. Cleveland is not colder than those places.

Battle Creek, Michigan
Strange, this city reminds me of a Twilight zone or maybe Outer Limits episode where everyone in a town mysteriously and suddenly disappeared.

Cleveland: Random Development and News
Great news for businesses, and now concerts at Jacobs Pavilion won't be traffic nightmares any more.

Cleveland: Filling in Euclid Avenue
Oh good grief...future generations may speculate that our own military assaulted that building!!

Cleveland: Random Development and News
^ Great news!! I felt so bad for the urban pioneers that bought houses there, only to have the developer flop out on them.

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
Tell me about it...literally! Ironically, that was the one day I didn't bike to work this week, making my trek via car a real pain and take even longer than via bike. First, if you have a huge bike event for charity, at least have the courtesy to tell the local radio stations so we can re-route accordingly. Second, if you actually TELL the local media what the event is, it's FREE PUBLICITY. So instead of leaving stupid WTAM and the like wondering if it's Critical Mass?! they can actually be plugging YOUR charity.
