  1. My first thought at seeing KJP's pic was that I wish I could use a time machine to prevent the destruction of the original beaches!! Unfortunately, the legacy of our coastline is an industrial one. We can't do anything about the past century of abuse. But I am curious about what we can do now and in the future to reclaim our lost beaches. In fact, the current cover of Scene Magazine focuses on this very issue of how blind development adversely affects the coastline.

Hts. I posted the poll on Ron Paul forums. I agree with you on the Loving case, at least I feel personally that the rationale applies. The Cato think tank videos appear to be enlightening. Poll: How would a true libertarian vote on a Constitutional amendment banning same sex marriage? http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?305504-Poll-libertarians-and-same-sex-marriage So far the vote is 14 "no" and 1 "yes" by a poster named 'traditional conservative' lol.
  3. More info on the Tremont shooting....sad.
  4. Exactly! I love Cleveland...but from the moment I got to Ohio the condition of the roads has been one of my pet peeves...may be heading over to that thread soon lol.
  5. Kindof a fun read... Does anybody know what that cafe is? Hmm, my guess would be algebra tea house? Oh yeah, as a cyclist, I cannot help but totally agree with his opinion on this: "Cleveland's got the worse street conditions of anywhere I've been so far."
  6. A great read!! Thanks for posting.
  7. Nice, South Arrrr-inge is much more beautiful than I imagined it would be. Also cool to see the stream restoration!

The Ron Paul forums are crawling with libertarians who disagree with Ron on libertarian issues. I was being serious, I'd post that question there to see what the response would be.

But doesn't Ron Paul himself support a state's "right" to ban same-sex marriage? In effect, yes, he'd let states decide the issue.

But he does claim to believe in libertarian principles..... when it is convenient for him. Isn't it possible that those are his beliefs? I mean, I'm sure some of his views hurt him in the election.

Usually people who claim to be libertarians but know very little about the philosophy. Sooooo..... what would the response be? You seem to have a firm grasp of libertarianism. Would a 'true' libertarian vote 'yes' or 'no' on a constitutional amendment to ban state licensure of same sex marriages? And, keep in mind, ballots don't have a write-in third option. It is a 'yes' or 'no' question. I'm not really an authority on libertarianism, my guess would be the vast majority would vote "no." Might be a good question to post on the Ron Paul forum.

Rand: He's against gay marriage personally, but believes that, constitutionally, it should be up to the states to decide the issue. While Rand may lean that way, I wouldn't call him a libertarian. Maybe Right/Libertarian or constitutional conservative. A true libertarian obviously would advocate a complete privatization of marriage.

Just who the heck are you asking? You can't seem to differentiate between social cons from libertarians. I don't know of any libertarians that want the government to legislate moral issues. The beauty of it is that it doesn't matter that they personally agree or disagree with gay marriage; this is an issue of individual choice that needs no government intervention. Political "cover" on the other hand, is favoring civil unions.

Nah, you're way off base there Hts. The gist of their argument is that the government should stay out of peoples business. http://pileusblog.wordpress.com/2011/02/15/new-hampshire-bill-would-abolish-marriage-licensing/
  15. Fire the hitting coach!!!! Oh yeah....we tried that already.
  16. surfohio replied to zaceman's post in a topic in Ohio Politics
Good point. I think the libertarian argument for getting the state altogether out of marriage is an intriguing one.
  17. Oh my gosh our government is too big and unsustainable as it is. Your solution, nationalization, is a direct route to more inefficiency and corruption.
  18. Ready 2 synergize and participate!!!
  19. Got my coupon all set and ready to go!!!
  20. Okay, I have a serious question after watching these old films and seeing tons of old pictures. Were potholes invented in the 1970's?
  21. Voted.

Oh yeah....on the drive to Geneva I was very surprised to see an official branch of the HELLS ANGELS alongside the road. It's a small place that could be a floral shop if you somehow didn't notice the huge commercial sign! Well, I stopped the car and got out to take a pic of the sign, figuring there were no cars in the lot, and after all, they planted flowers around the place and it looks really non-threatening. DO NOT DO THIS. The second I got out of the car a jeep full of extremely dangerous looking guys pulled into the lot blocking my car in. They were not at all happy about me taking a photograph of their place. I apologized several times while they seemed to be having a discussion about what to do next. Even though I'm from New Jersey, I couldn't help but find the situation to be very scary. Then after a seriously awkward minute or so, they drove off. Already my wife has used this event twice as ammunition to support her claim that I'm an idiot.

Went there with the wife last weekend. We actually found a really good restaurant, a diamond in the rough if you will. They specialize in fresh seafood, and the chef herself came out to our table to go over the specials with us. I had a delicious trout special and she had a lobster lasagna that most certainly did not skimp on the lobster. But the best thing...they have a bar area that still houses an early 1900's shooting gallery from Coney Island!!! And, amazingly, it's still operational. The bartender will turn it on for you and it's really a sight. When you see the bullet holes in the metal targets you realize that they weren't kidding around back then lol. Those must have been some serious guns and bullets in use. Here's the Plain Dealer write up of the place: Sandy Chanty This quirky and cozy eatery is located in the heart of the Geneva-on-the-Lake strip, at the corner of Lake Avenue and New Street. The restaurant, open year round, specializes in fresh seafood and is overseen by chef, host, and intriguing personality Patt Bowen, a formally-trained chef and Cleveland transplant. In addition to a variety of nightly fish specials, the Chanty features lobster lasagna, lobster focaccia, and lobster linguini. The dining room is friendly and cozy and features a unique back bar that once served as an arcade shooting game. Sandy Chanty 5457 Lake Avenue, Geneva-On-The-Lake, OH 44041 (440) 415-1080
