Exactly. I can't help thinking that the proverbial "suitcase full of money" would've gotten things done months ago.

Cleveland: Food Trucks/Carts News & Discussion
Dear Cleveland dysfunctional pols....get your act together. Food truck owner grows impatient waiting for Cleveland's approval to operate downtown CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The owner of the popular food truck Dim and Den Sum says the city of Cleveland will put him out of business soon if it doesn't get legislation approved that will allow him to operate downtown at lunch time. Chris Hodgson said Friday he has been waiting since last year for the legislation to make its way through bureaucratic channels.... http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/2011/04/food_truck_owner_grows_impatie.html

Yeah, that's about what I'd expect for their "fantastic" plan to embrace the river front.

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
Restaurant, art gallery open on Madison Avenue at the west entrance to Birdtown. Barroco Grill Brings a Little Bit of South America to Lakewood The name Barroco is Spanish for Baroque — an artistic style following the Renaissance. The period is best characterized by movement, emotion and change. To the father/son owners of the new South American-style restaurant that quietly opened last week, Barroco about says it all.... http://lakewood-oh.patch.com/articles/barroco-grill-brings-a-little-bit-of-south-america-to-lakewood

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
^ I think the main problem is the psychological distance between Market and Station. I mean look, Lorain looks like I-90 in that pic! Not pedestrian friendly at all.

Moving to Cleveland with a dog
I think it's a good value option vs. downtown. And there's a free parking option on the street. Not sure how much time that would add to the commute to Case...a few minutes? You're practically right on the Shoreway.

Cleveland: Public Square Redesign
Ha! No worries...you're not the only one in this thread to mention that aspect of Crocker Park in a positive light lol.

Cleveland: Public Square Redesign
Heya there Cleveland, what CBC said, I definitely meant small retail of the kiosk-type variety. As for being architecturally interesting, I'm a sucker for the past....I would model them after the beautiful, original train stations on the square, as seen in the pics you posted!!!

Cleveland: Public Square Redesign
Way to go Burnham!!!! Also, I think it's vital to communicate just how important it is to have retail space made available for lease: -creates more stakeholders that will have an interest in a clean and healthy park -keeps the place a vibrant destination, even in winter months -opportunity for unique or iconic archetecture -generates revenues for the city

Moving to Cleveland with a dog
I would suggest the numerous apt. buildings at the Cleveland/Lakewood border on Lake Ave. Beautiful neighborhood. Close to downtown. I believe most buildings are dog friendly. You'll be right by Edgewater Park which is acres of prime dog walking area, and you have most of the beach as well. Edgewater Park http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5091/5417644046_6873cefda3.jpg Here's just a sample: Clifton Lake http://realestate.cleveland.com/?classification=real+estate&temp_type=detail&tp=RE_cleve&property=cleveland.com&finder=rent&ad_id=203941028 Lake West http://www.azmanagement.com/Lake-West-Apartments.aspx Hampton House (warning: the pet weight limit is 999 pounds!?) http://www.apartmentsearch.com/apartments/ohio/cleveland/hampton-house-apartments.html I think there are several parts of town you may like. Good luck! p.s. since you are in Athens, I'm guessing you like live music. Check out The Beachland Ballroom and Grog Shop for starters.

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
Yeah, I've had my car windows broken in Akron twice, and nothing was stolen from inside! Again I'm hoping it was an isolated thing. I've been parking on that street for ten years, never had a problem. The city or someone does need to clean up the glass asap.

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
Might have been the night before....but really, I don't know when it actually happened. I talked to a warehouse guy at GLBC about it. He said he wouldn't park his car on that street anymore. edit: for the record....I DID still park there lol. I was betting on it being an isolated incident...and that the perpetrators were long gone by then. Anyhow....I was running out of time and needed to get to the Wolfhound Stout asap.

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
A message in the public interest. It looks like maybe a dozen cars have had their side windows shattered between Great Lakes Brewing Company and St. Ignacius. I'm not sure why the street between a prestigious school and the finest microbrewery in the U.S. looks like urban hell. But it does.

Dubai: Developments and News
Researching this thread.... My wife has the offer to transfer to an affiliated school in Dubai- she's a teacher in Lorain, OH. Right now the school administrator over there is considering her salary request. If it's reasonable to her, she's going to accept. It's a temporary position, ending mid- June.
