So we are statistically....at the #4 seed hahaha
  2. LeBron James’ promise to Akron gets more ambitious His I Promise School now includes housing, job training and health care By Justin TinsleyMarch 27, 2023 AKRON, Ohio — When LeBron James was in grade school, he wondered why the maps in his classrooms showed Cleveland, Cincinnati and Columbus, but not Akron. Now, 20 years into his NBA career, James is building a whole world in his hometown 40 minutes south of Cleveland, an audacious community revitalization project rooted in education while encompassing everything from housing and health care to job training and a laundry. James started with a tutoring and college scholarship program in 2011. That led to the ballyhooed opening of the I Promise School in 2018, a public school for third through eighth graders with an extensive support program funded by The LeBron James Family Foundation. Nearly a half-decade later, the school remains. But what James, his foundation and supporters across the city have come to understand is that success in the classroom is about so much more than the actual classroom. https://andscape.com/features/lebron-james-promise-to-akron-gets-more-ambitious/

Am I reading this correctly? Looking like Cavs are statistically at #4 whether they go 7-0 or 1-6...apparently 0-7 knocks us to 5th. http://www.playoffstatus.com/nba/cavalierswhatif.html

Nets were playing a great game! Just going right at Mobley/Allen on offense AND defense. If Caris and Cedi can somehow keep that consistency off the bench that would be huge. Also so good to see Rubio getting back into it. His court vision is off the charts...just watch how his passing leads to those easy buckets.
  5. For as much as this project is about selling that skyline view, they pretty much have to right?
  6. Interesting news! It always bothered me how bland the plant and additions were in contrast to the original school.
  7. I'd be ecstatic if we could just get a narrow strip developed fronting the street from Bookhouse to Tabletop. The Clinic could still keep the vast majority of their beloved surface lots.
  8. Survey crashed about 25 times lol. So many of those options were just bad and/or more suitable for a river or small lake; not for such a large body of water with significant wave action. Final Question 62. Finally, is there anything else you want to express to us about this project or Lakewood Park itself? Please no more "hardening" of the shoreline with ugly rocks and concrete breakwalls. For better access consider aesthetic advantages of wooden boardwalks and piers. Need more natural areas: wetlands and sand beaches. That's what Lakewood is missing.
  9. For there to be a beach in Lakewood that would require a pretty long jetty somewhere east of the park. Although that should accumulate sand, problem is you're then preventing that sand from its natural drift eastward. It's a "robbing Peter to pay Paul" scenario causing more erosion down the coast.
  10. I think I have a proclivity for places that are specifically not updated lol. But more diversity and more options is almost always a good thing. I love visiting the neighborhood when I'm in town.
  11. Oh yeah. This is way too dense. This pic reminds me of something out of Hong Kong or Manilla. 😂

Pssht. You sound like some snobby millionaire who thinks bathrooms should have doors.
  13. Binghamton? Just curious why anyone would go there on purpose.
  14. Hate to be a negative Nancy, but if you want to live on a world class waterfront city you have to move elsewhere. We are 20 years into the lakefront plan and we have......drumrolll....a Mexican restaurant and low rise residential to show for it. Cleveland's waterfront is all about then next 20-50 years. Hoping for the best, but there's just no predicting what's going on here. It's truly chaotic, the "momentum" for change is just continually underwhelming. The land bridge is a great idea but should've happened years ago. Today there's no real progress beyond the Rock Hall and the Science Center, which are terribly designed for their location. So we've had just a lot of ideas and guessing where the money's gonna come from and what's going to happen next. Someone please chime in and make us feel better about the future. Please. I'm done with all of it.
  15. I am personally hoping the purple paint quickly fades haha.

He didn't score until pretty late in the game. The uneven play I'll chalk up to the Donovan Mitchell effect. The team still isn't where it should be with the ball sharing, hoping a healthier Rubio can help with that balance.
  17. And while surface material can vary, to me there is just something magic about real wood :-)
  18. Surface material can vary, but the really important thing is the easily identifiable connectivity. It's what makes it THE boardwalk instead of a series of disjointed "boardwalks." In other words, if the thing doesn't connect and provide a simple route for pedestrians it won't really function correctly.
  19. Boy what an eyesore this area has been lol. I really never thought I'd see this developed in my lifetime, glad to be wrong. Here's some more visual context from the Crains article:
  20. Guys, I think the Clinic has qualified people to worry and pontificate about this kind stuff so we don't have to lol.
  21. Did everyone read the article? It is, I think, the first time I've ever heard the Clinic so open and engaging about how their construction is perceived by the public. Unless I'm missing something there is constructive dialogue going and the Clinic said they are using these criticisms of their designs to make changes. This is all pretty great, right? The only problem I have is this is the kind of healthy interaction that should've been happening 20 years ago.
  22. Yes it sounds strange, but HOK and the Clinic are pitching this concept of interaction: The wet labs, or labs where researchers use chemicals rather than just computer-generated models, would have glass walls so people can see the research happening there from the outside, Felder said. Outside the center, there would also be bike racks, low lighting, and outdoor seating, including benches next to the nearby bus stop on the corner, Schwartzberg said. “HOK’s designed a really thoughtful building that, despite the level of security that’s required for research, is really attempting to bring some of this activity, make it very visible to the neighborhood and really engage people with the incredible work that’s going to be going on here,” she said.

Some really fine reddit commentary on this Ohio beauty..... https://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/820-Prospect-Ave_Zanesville_OH_43701_M99936-91638
  24. Google search "Great Lakes Exposition" and see what used to be around the stadium...at least for a bit :-)
