Favorite Music At The Moment?
Country videos were played on.....TNN? Whatever channel it was, when they started out there were so many music videos shot "in the big city" I guess in an attempt to better assimilate the artists and genre to the mainstream. And re: MTV at least they brought in legit guys for Yo MTV Raps! I'm sure if their first choice would be to have Adam Curry be the host and have him just wear some Adidas breakdancing jump suit.

Cleveland: Downtown: Ohio Savings Plaza Redevelopment
Speaking my language. You should start a new thread!

Cleveland: Detroit-Shoreway / Gordon Square Arts District: Development News
Exciting stuff! I like to think about which cool neighborhood in CLE is going to be completely built-out first. That would make a neat poll. But Detroit-Shoreway sure is moving fast.

Brecksville: Valor Acres Development
I know the Bald Eagle Boys generally stay over by the Towpath, but things could've changed since their turf war with The Southside Geese. Competition for Valor paint racket could spark more conflict. Does anyone have a recent Gang map of Brecksville?

Cuyahoga County Democratic Party
^ This is really surprising. So much so that I would've guessed for mostly the exact opposite.

Cincinnati Bengals Discussion
Going 3 and out after the Mahomes fumble was key. There were a few chances for CIN to really take momentum but they just couldn't capitalize.

Cleveland: Mayor Justin Bibb
Actually, he famously introduced himself in college as someone who was going to become elected mayor of Cleveland and then become Governor! I'm pretty sure this was at Ohio U....someone whose more sober please google this.

Cleveland: Downtown: 55 Public Square Restoration
Was hoping for some fun, mid century colors instead of "house flipper" grey, but hey, just very glad to see the place renovated.

Cleveland: Mayor Justin Bibb
If Bibb wants to be George Voinovich and do a great job and someday move onto the Senate, more power to him. Those kinds of promotions are the best kind of term limits.

Cleveland: Downtown Office Buildings Updates
Here's a business model: lower the rent so businesses can afford moving into the vacant storefronts.

Favorite Music At The Moment?
In hindsight I'm fairly certain that the NYC station 92 WKTU was actually owned by the Human League :-) Well at least for a couple of years maybe. And speaking of dream pop... 1960s–1970s: Origins Author Nathan Wiseman-Trowse writes that the "approach to the sheer physicality of sound" integral to dream pop was "arguably pioneered in popular music by figures such as Phil Spector and [Beach Boys founder] Brian Wilson."[14] The music of the Velvet Underground in the 1960s and 1970s, which experimented with repetition, tone and texture over conventional song structure, was also an important touchstone in the genre's development.

Housing Market & Trends
Haha, half my calls & texts from these people think my name is "John" and want to buy "my" property in Mentor, OH. Where the hell are they getting this info?
-
Housing Market & Trends
My friends in the Navy all live in military neighborhoods about 15 miles inland. Or on their boats illegally.

Housing Market & Trends
I never said it wasn't expensive. I'm just pointing out rate of increase and my experience and how people are being affected by the new state law, which I'll point out is helping renters. Whether it's good or bad thing of course depends on who you ask.
-
Housing Market & Trends
Not wanting to paint with too broad a brush here, but my experience in San Diego was that prior to 2020 rents were going up at least 20-30% annually in desirable areas.

Housing Market & Trends
Just FYI even as voters rejected stronger statewide measures, California still passed the 2019 Tenant Protection act that limits annual rent increases to no more than 5% + local CPI (CPI = inflation rate), or 10% whichever is lower. There are significant exceptions to this, e.g. "new" housing built within last 15 years and single family homes are exempt. But also cities can impose stricter caps.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
Cavs are just not the same team as last year. They just look out of it.
-
Housing Market & Trends
I'm not saying that doesn't ever happen, but it is a blanket statement that really isn't applicable in every case.

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
^ This. It floors me that they didn't use this high profile space for retail, marketing, or any sort of real public interaction.

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
No. Betting on the regions outsized cultural talents is the spark to developing the lakefront.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
Cavs are relying on one player again, just the LeBron era.

Cleveland: Downtown: New Police Headquarters
Glad to see it looks like they're preserving the look of the windows, as well as opening the windows on the streetfront. The parking/storage building is clownishly hideous lol, but it fronts an exit ramp so no big deal. Anyone else think it odd that the Tyler complex was in the running? Just seems way out of sync with what they've got going on over there.

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
The Lakefront isn't as complicated as we've made it. It's actually simple: give some reason for people to go there and build off of that. Ingenuity Festival programmed live music and art in the warehouses there and it was amazing. Anyone who experienced it could easily imagine this growing into an ongoing thing attracting more and more people, getting more investment and making continued improvements along the way. But no, there was no traction and no leadership to run with that baton. Of course there was a bigger and better and sexier plan....allegedly. They tore down those warehouses and we continue to wait on some magical billionaire to devise some great plan.

Columbus: Short North Developments and News
surfohio replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionRight? I always wondered what's gonna happen next when the street itself finally gets built out.
