Columbus: Short North Developments and News
surfohio replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionRight? I always wondered what's gonna happen next when the street itself finally gets built out.

Oh man, please not that one.

Cleveland: Retail News
I hope I'm way off. But the new retailers in TC sorta remind me of the shops you saw at Rolling Acres in Akron in the 90's - just before they closed.

Cleveland: Duck Island: Development and News
You mean the "best bodega in Cleveland" haha. Does anyone have a quick idea of how much space there is left for development in Duck Island, or is it pretty much built out?

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
Haha. The Rock Bottom at the Powerhouse was part of that first wave, golden age of smaller brewers coming online. That place was a lot of fun and a cornerstone for when that area was really happening.

Lorain County: Development and News
The erosion control project from about 10 years ago really destroyed most of the nice beach that was down there. Here's hoping it can come back but there's been so much armoring of the shoreline there now I'm not that optimistic.

US Economy: News & Discussion
Now that you mention it I'd really love to see a true cost-benefit analysis of road salt usage. The damage done to property and infrastructure just has to be astronomical.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
Anderson Varejão rejoins Cavaliers in player development role Associated Press CLEVELAND -- Anderson Varejão has bounced back to the Cavaliers. One of the most popular players in Cleveland's history, Varejão has been hired as a player development consultant and global ambassador for the team that he played with for 14 NBA seasons. Known for his hustle and frizzy hair, Varejão, affectionately nicknamed "Wild Thing" for his rambunctious playing style, was with the Cavaliers from 2004 to 2015. He spent two seasons with the Golden State Warriors before the center returned to Cleveland after a three-year break from the NBA. He retired after playing five games in the 2020-21 season. "I am thrilled and honored once again to be a formal part of the Cavaliers family," Varejão said. "This is a unique opportunity to start a new chapter of my life with the team I love and in the city I love." https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/35440301/anderson-varejao-rejoins-cavaliers-player-development-role

Cleveland: Streetscape Improvements
Those are valid considerations. So vital to have stakeholders, e.g. retailers and others who are fiscally and emotionally bought into the space. I am maybe being optimistic that it's special enough to attract a good deal of visitors.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
Speaking of building up goodwill vs. badwill: The Deshaun Watson trade and signing could end up as the worst move in NFL history https://www.reddit.com/r/nfl/comments/106wnws/the_deshaun_watson_trade_and_signing_could_end_up/

Cleveland Browns Discussion
Question: can someone tell me how the Browns (or any NFL team owner really) becomes more profitable by winning? Like, is there a significant financial motive to be good or is it all about ego?

Cincinnati Bengals Discussion
I was looking away at the time so didn't see him fall backward. But I did think that he had died. Here's why I thought he may have been playing with a previous concussion: Second impact syndrome (SIS) is a potential complication from an athlete returning to a game before symptoms from a minor head injury have subsided. The initial injury may be a concussion, or it may be another, more severe, type of head trauma, such as cerebral contusion. Also, the second impact may be very minor, even a blow such as an impact to the chest that causes the head to jerk, thereby transmitting forces of acceleration to the brain. ...... The mortality rate for SIS approaches 50%, and morbidity (disability) is almost 100% https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second-impact_syndrome Anyhow, glad to see the guy's improving. I lost a good friend and teammate at age 27. He very much looked the picture of perfect health, but apparently had an unknown heart defect and died during a pickup soccer game.

Cincinnati Bengals Discussion
My first thought was maybe he was playing with a concussion. He's been known as a pretty big hitter. Really sad and scary to see. After the cpr I'm just glad he's still alive.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
Oh yeah haha. I got to see him in Coney Island around 2008 when he was just coming on when the corrupt Nathans/Competitive Food Council banned the great Kobiashi from participating. Worse than FIFA those scoundrels!!!!

Cleveland: Public Square Redesign
If they do go with this new proposal I could see each of the butterfly paths ending at different historical markers, perhaps on pedestals. They could all be angled a bit to help steer pedestrian flow toward the crosswalk.

Cleveland: General Business & Economic News
You're kicking a hornets nest lol. Yes the Cavs are trending up and killed the curse. The Guardians are young and very good, but for whatever reasons their attendance continues to be absolutely woeful. I feel sorry for any businesses that are relying on fans showing up at Progressive. The once proud Cleveland Browns are on the verge of losing yet another generation of fans. Parents who try and steer their children toward this team should be visited by social services. Lastly while it's indeed interesting to imagine a much better built commercial environment around the stadiums, the economics of sports is highly controversial and arguably a bad investment.

Cleveland: TV / Film Industry News
Q&A: Baumbach finds a cinematic playground in ‘White Noise’ By LINDSEY BAHR ..... AP: A lot of filmmakers and showrunners set their pandemic films in warm vacation spots like Greece and Sicily and Hawaii and you went to Cleveland in November. BAUMBACH: It seems like a lot of people went back to their childhoods too. But I had already done that. I really was just following the novel and the logic of the script and not thinking as much about what it all would entail. Ohio offered the most exciting possibilities. But it was a lot to fling myself into after a lot of time indoors, like now we’re going to be in Ohio for six months and I’ve got to put a car in a creek and build a Boy Scout camp. But I liked working in Ohio and the community there. People were excited about the movie and being in the movie and I used a lot of real families. I liked that there was a kind of enthusiasm that in my years of shooting in New York City I’ve watched dwindle. It used to be if I came back to Brooklyn to shoot, people would get excited. Now nobody’s excited. https://apnews.com/article/noah-baumbach-white-noise-interview-greta-gerwig-movies-5e0a5f339c3de73a7a250c2710b92e50?user_email=a076540dc3b2e343bc67a84dafc77827e306f146736f94661205af0903366f93&utm_medium=Morning_Wire&utm_source=Sailthru&utm_campaign=Dec22_MorningWire&utm_term=Morning Wire Subscribers

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
Last night was a weird game. The team chemistry has not looked too good lately.
