Indeed. I sure as heck was when I first saw the lake in 1990. Seems that "lake" is probably not the best descriptor.
  2. Yep. It could also suggest some measure of indecision and/or infighting within the company.

Anyone think this is going to end up being a half year? I know nothing, just my suspicion. Listened to CLE sports talk yesterday for the first time in months. It was kind of funny to hear the hosts on 92.3 soberly admit that most of Jimmy Haslam's decisions are irrational.
  4. I know we're just aren't "there" yet, but eventually we need to really address how much runoff is just pouring into the lake and river, aka urban runoff. It should be interesting to see how the proposed park might be dealing with this. In fact I'll reach out to my friend in NEORSD who would know such things.

Yep! So I used to work in Key Tower overlooking the lake. A new co-worker came in one day and was just mesmerized at the view. She asked, "what body of water is that?" She was from Strongsville [facepalm emoji]

Inland sea! These "million dollar" lake views are awesome, and can be had for fairly cheap in CLE.
  7. If you had to choose for this stretch, would you want a Chicago River type density or variable low-mid rise mixed use with more park space and trails? Or maybe even something kind of in-between? We've got almost a blank slate here! I will say I'm not a fan of Gilbert's early renderings for that enormous building that would considerably obstruct Landmark Office Towers.
  8. ^ With the second pic it almost seems strange that there aren't high rise buildings along the river. The viewpoint makes it seem like downtown just ends very abruptly into a no-mans land.

Gramarye is correct that Pastafarianism is in a bit of a First Amendment gray zone. -X
  10. Quite a scare! Lol. I'm guessing every resident with a pet antelope was losing sleep last night!
  11. ^ I remember Matt Kaulig from playing football at Akron. No clue about his ties to any specific development beyond his own companies. https://www.kauligracing.com/leadership/matt-kaulig/
  12. I don't, but I was visiting Cleveland two weeks ago and was ON the Lake Link trail and still couldn't quite figure it out lol.
  13. Haha heck yeah I love Gravity Place!
  14. ^ Nice! Can you please add the Lake Link Trail also? I think the trail system is still pretty confusing.

    I'm betting he'll be touring a women's shelter in about a week.
  16. I didn't post the article.
  17. The decision to copy and paste the current Cleveland Indians brand identity onto the Cleveland Guardians feels as if it was made out of fear of fan retribution or an attempt to maintain the status quo. Whatever the reason, the new Cleveland Guardians logo designs feel too connected to the team’s past and former offensive name. This is revisionist. The name was offensive to like seven people.

^ Intense shift of focus? Sounds like damage control was fully initiated to protect the important people.
  19. Since they tore down those warehouses near the stadium my hope for a more organic transition for the Lakefront isn't likely to happen. However I do hope in the near future that they can come up with that perfect mix of residential, unique entertainment and park space that is more easily accessible and THE place where people and families want to come to from out of town and hole up for the weekend.
  20. ^ Holy cow that's surprising. Some Asian investors made that really awesome CLE promo video a few years ago. I swear the cinematography made the city look top tier.....I'm guessing it was not as effective as I had hoped.

  22. No, it was the inevitable conclusion of the lawsuits initiated years before. By 2003 The Picway plant and numerous others were operated by skeleton crews and everyone in the industry knew the days for these antiquated plants were numbered. These older plants were all in obvious violation of the Clean AIr Act and they lasted decades longer than anyone had anticipated.
  23. A very well-written article. Sorry the church did not take better care of these historic houses.
  24. I've got to say as far as ESPN shouting arguments goes, this was pretty coherent with good points on both sides.
  25. I actually worked at the Picway plant for a while in my five years of dealing with AEP's Clean Air Act litigation, early 2000's. The lawsuits initially gained momentum from state environmental groups, particularly downwind states in the northeast, who were then joined by the US EPA during the Clinton Administration. When Bush was elected he declined alter the existing policy and public demands for cleaner air.
