  1. I hate this.
  2. ^ That logo belongs in some kind of bizarro red light district!
  3. ^ Mirrored glass at street level? I was never a fan, and you really don't see this anymore. Reminds me of the former Eaton building.
  4. ^ So glad to see that awful neglected jungle hillside of invasive-looking vines will finally be a thing of the past.
  5. Speaking of safety (and that desire for more space), this is definitely the thread to mention that the leading cause of death for children in the USA is traditionally due to automobile crashes. https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMc2201761
  6. Agree. I am pleasantly surprised they did that.

Just an fyi it is not Akron University but The University of Akron. GO ZIPS!!!
  8. Found this: Heritage Park II Intersection of Riberbed St. and Elm St. https://www.clevelandohio.gov/node/167868 And this: CLEAVELAND HERITAGE PARKS, located on the east and west banks of the Cuyahoga River near Center St., commemorate the early history of the city. Initiated by the WOMEN'S CITY CLUB, the 4-year project culminated in the opening of Heritage Park I on the east bank of the river 4 July 1976, which featured a replica of LORENZO CARTER's cabin. On the west bank of the river, Heritage Park II, with gazebo and boardwalks, opened in June 1981. Cleveland's Parks Dept. administers and maintains the 2 parks, and the River's Bend Park Corp., founded in 1981, organized activities and information to promote them. https://case.edu/ech/articles/c/cleaveland-heritage-parks
  9. ^ Do you know the address for this building?
  10. Hey guys, don't come at me with your common sense when I'm talking about the City of Cleveland lol. But seriously, there's obviously a major issue with how the City services operate. Whether it's corruption or simply some wasteful bureaucratic problem I've no idea.
  11. It's tremendously unimaginative, weird and an entire universe of missed opportunities. But heck, like you said it beats what's there now. Let's fill this awful parking lot and hope for better & more creative developments down the line.

Am I the only person that steers clear of Tesla's nowadays? I've seen enough stupid videos that make me seriously wonder if Tesla "drivers" are statistically more prone to crash into everything.
  13. Faster isn't necessarily better imho. I'll take the train to LA and work online even though I could get there maybe 20-30 min earlier by car. Also more train commuters mean that less people are driving which should lessen traffic and shorten commute times.
  14. For specifics we'll have to wait for the study. Surely they'll address this. Generally: Infrastructure spending may take years to yield economic results. However, improved infrastructure can increase worker productivity by moving goods more efficiently. It also can increase the number of hours available for work by shortening commute times. In combination, these two trends should accelerate GDP growth. https://www.jpmorgan.com/commercial-banking/insights/the-economic-case-for-infrastructure-spending#:~:text=Infrastructure spending may take years, trends should accelerate GDP growth.
  15. From what I've seen the costs for the city to plant or maintain trees etc. is astronomical.

The Browns, in their infinite "wisdom" played an obviously debilitated Baker Mayfield instead of their very very highly paid backup QB Case Keenum. It doesn't matter who plays for this team. The decision-makers in the org. are perpetually stupid and will ruin everything.
  17. Great question. I kind of want to see more details at street level. But my initial reaction to the rendering is I like it. Please no value engineering lol.
  18. Nobody is nice. I understand just how important the Towpath is, as over the years I have probably used it more than anyone, except maybe for @GISguy who is a cycling maniac. It's just from a land-use perspective ask yourself, "is this location the best location for this style and scale?" It's a fair question.
  19. My friends in Ohio City and Tremont all seem to want their neighborhoods to remain exactly the way they are right this very instant.
  20. Who's mad? But your description of Sokeleski's makes me wonder if you realize just how much of an institution it was up until very recently. You make it sound like it was some decaying empty building lol. No it was a thriving space where all of my out of town visitors wanted to go because it was unique and world famous.
  21. I don't think so. That either means that it was a political non-starter or possibly that even the most starry-eyed developer realized the space was too vast for their purposes. edit - but as far as your mention of recreation/entertainment, the closing of Euclid Beach Park had left a major hole in the community. I do absolutely think a family-friendly attraction is needed and would be awesome for the area.
  22. Right. I really wish this new development could be taking place in one of the countless blighted or open spaces in the city.

Sooo, my friends just bought a new house!! Massive Dinosaur Statue Makes Ohio Home Look Prehistoric The three-bedroom, three-bathroom home is no 'eye-saur' and is listed at $162,000 on Zillow. Ben Blanchet May. 12, 2022, 07:26 PM EDT A dinosaur still roams the Earth outside of a house in Cleveland. The property, listed at $162,000 on Zillow, is equipped with three bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a number of animal statues that stand tall in the front yard. These include the 12-foot dinosaur, a giraffe and an elephant. The home is far from “Jurassic Park,” however, as the dinosaur didn’t hatch from an egg in the front yard. Harry Larweh, a Ghana-born sculptor, is the home’s current owner and the mind behind the hand-crafted beasts. https://www.huffpost.com/entry/ohio-home-dinosaur-statue_n_627c2d7be4b016d742f68c82
  24. I love this. But it irks me that they took - and published - that photo without picking up the garbage first.
