Cleveland: Downtown: Huntington Bank Field
If you look at how this all played out, the talking points etc. it is so obvious that Haslam and Co. put way too much stake in relying on a backlash against urban urban residents and Democratic leaders.

Cleveland: Hotel Development
At my job we all recently got a vague email from HR stating we had to “live” in the city where we were hired. I have no idea what that truly means, but its better to ask forgiveness than permission, so….

Cleveland: Tremont: Development and News
Mostly California, Florida, NJ, Texas. I suppose these are growing populations vs CLE and CHI. In Lakewood they had been tearing down the older brownstones, but not these 70s era…yet. I would guess these buildings like this one in Tremont were not built to last as long, but who knows. Was just wondering if it makes economic sense in Tremont to tear down a rather plain multi unit for higher end, and quite possibly in this instance less dense housing.

Cleveland: Downtown: Tower at Erieview & Galleria Renovation
Ancecdotal for sure, but since I'm not exactly chained to an office anymore I am able to travel much more frequently.

Cleveland: Tremont: Development and News
Just curious what you all think the lifespan is of that apartment building to the left. I am seeing this era of residential torn down everywhere. But not in Cleveland so much.

Cleveland: Tremont: Development and News
Probably a minority opinion but I really like those current houses in context with the area. Those new builds are great - for the Flats. I think they are going to look ridiculous on this lot unless the eventual plan is to tear down the entire neighborhood.

MLB: General News & Discussion
Fun movie and helped kickstart that epic era for baseball in Cleveland. It still bothers me that i never got to see the Tribe win a World Series in my lifetime….not even the fictionalized version of the team on t.v. lol.

^ There are old renderings out there somewhere for the initial proposal for the Convention Center bridging that gap and it does look awesome.

Cleveland / Northeast Ohio: "What If/Hypothetical/Dream" Construction and Projects Discussion
I love this idea, but for the Flats. Still a lot of old buildings there in desperate need of some TLC. Bring in some of the old wooden ships as museums too! Maritime history is interesting and a huge draw.

Browns, Jets and Jags? Wow the NFL sure hates London.

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
NASA? Well at least that sounds potentially interesting. Music venue? We got those but perhaps something unique and connected to the Rock Hall works? Honestly we should replace the stadium with not one thing but dozens if not hundreds of smaller sized things. That is just a huge amount of space.

Cleveland: Westown-Jefferson: Development and News
^ Darn. I was really hoping Kelly & Co. could make it work out. I really loved what they did for Mahalls and Harlow's Pizza too.

Great news but I would be sad to lose this. I love the look of the brick street and structural steel.

Facebook
Haha FB is totally high school 2.0. And it's also how I realized the teachers at my school did a wretched job of teaching my friends that the President doesn't control gas prices, that there is actually a difference between the words "their, there and they're" and that the word "loser" isn't spelled "looser." ** Also if your profile pic is a selfie taken at the gym, you definitely still live within 5 miles of our hometown.

Facebook
FB was a client back in 2013? when they changed the feed from primarily friend group content to whatever awful zoo it is now. That change was all Mark Z's idea too....nobody else at FB wanted this and there was an uproar internally, but he runs the show. I am sure there are a lot of other examples of ruining a product in the name of maximizing revenue.

Ha! In another thread I googled "what's new name of the Sears tower" before posting...I didn't want UO police to arrest me.

Chicago: Developments and News
^ Yup! It is trippy to be in places like New Buffalo, MI and look out across the horizon and see the Willis building in the middle of the lake.

^ Okay who had this project on that "what's gonna happen next" thread lol. Not me!!!

Cleveland: Downtown: Huntington Bank Field
I nelieve you. But I think it's important to ask whether these sentiments are reflected in any way on attendance or the bottom line. In other words the fans and their opinions really don't matter much as long as they (or really corporate interests) keep buying into the awful product.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
Spoiler alert: Just search "worst trade in nfl history" lol. Any GM or coach that would have initiated and orchestrated that would have been fired into the sun by now.

Lorain County: Development and News
Been meaning to chime in for a while now on this! The Avon Lake power plant had been one of the most unique and most loved surf spots anywhere. This was for a few reasons: Firstly, I have had the experience of working at a lot of power plants. One thing many plants have in common is that by their nature they literally enhance nature by being fenced off with little public disturbance. Avon Lake was no different, and while they did construct some breakwalls there it was a very natural looking ecosystem! The setup allowed for a beautiful little sand dune area with all kinds cool plants and wildlife. As long as you steered away from the high fences and barbed wire it could have doubled on a film set as the Outer Banks or a lot of the best beaches down in South Carolina. It was just a little glimpse into what we lost along 99% of our shoreline with overdevelopment. Second because the power plant cooling system jetted out hot water into the lake, you could still surf there even when most of Lake Erie had already frozen over. On those winter days it was absolutely surreal, as visibility was limited by steam rising from the water while jumping fish and diving birds swirled all around you. In summer season this hot water often made the water temps around 85 degrees. For those who don't know, surfers use wax on their boards for friction, as a wet board is the slipperiest thing on earth. But wax is really sensitive to water temps, and you need the right brand for the right conditions. My friends and I would stock up on wax made for the Tropis, so guys working the surf shops in NJ or wherever would always we where going on our "trip" haha. Yet truth be told, even that tropical wax would eventually just melt off your board during summer wave days there. Anyhow, just a little background on a lost surf spot...lost primarily because of a questionable shoreline armoring project that was completely unneccessary. Losing the hot water was a minor thing, but losing the waves and eventually much of the sand beach was another. But such is life. Hopefully the new version of the coastline there is someday able to create more memories.

Cleveland: Downtown: Tower City / Riverview Development
That is a great assessment lol. Having people down there in good numbers and having fun really washed over the "blight" of the area. When they moved the rib fest or whatever they called it really showed that narrow strip had potential far beyond our extreme addiction for surface lot parking.
