^ Not sure I ever realized how great Terminal Tower looks from that angle.
  2. What Frank Jackson lacks in leadership, he makes up for in malaise.
  3. Beautiful way to spend 3 min.... https://www.cbsnews.com/video/a-thank-you-to-a-veteran/ HARTMAN: A thank-you to a veteran (Video) World War II veteran Frank Grasberger, 95, treasures a letter he received back in 2009 from a third-grade student thanking him for his service. When the staff of the Vitalia senior residences in Strongsville, Ohio, did some sleuthing, they found the letter writer, Dashauna Priest, who is now 21 – and a proud service member herself. Steve Hartman reports.

^ Right. I subscribed and we had a nice back and forth about which beaches he should visit in Ohio. Maybe just on hiatus?
  5. Why Cleveland does not have a huge home and garden expo downtown with all that empty space on the malls is confounding to me.
  6. SW is missing out on a very unique opportunity by not making their Public Square frontage accessible. For instance it would be so cool if they sponsored local and nationally renowned artists to display their work in their Pavilion - an art gallery filled with works made with SW paint of course.
  7. Knee jerk reactionary stuff: 1. The ground floors do look much more inviting than I imagined, thank goodness. 2. The gap between 55 and SW and overall view from PS looks like Bismark ND or some much smaller city. 3. Lack of activity along vacated Frankfurt is a loss. Interesting cities have great side streets not superblocks. 4. The gerbil tubes don't look terrible. 5. The blank wall behind Rockefeller does look terrible...here's hoping SW can paint some windows on there. Okay let's get this thing going asap.
  8. I thought it went 1. Columbus 2. KSU 3. U Akron.
  9. Oh that is too bad. You just caused me to take a google streetview walk down Lorain. I'm worried about a lot of these old buildings now.
  10. Well you have to be low cost and possess a very thrifty mindset when you own a billion dollar franchise. Also interesting that "RedHogs" is phonetically indistinguishable from the other former Redskins...THE Miami RedHawks.
  11. Haha. What better proof that all good sports names have already been taken. Though think of all the great helmet logos if they were the Washington Presidents. Just imagine Trump or Biden's face on there.
  12. Well said. Even the pretty good looking LA example that mrnyc posted looks defensive.
  13. At first glance that looks like a major upgrade.
  14. ^ Thanks for the intel! p.s. San Diego is the same, I live surrounded by homeless encampments and it's very sad. There is no serious plan to do anything about it either.
  15. ^ Imagine being outsmarted twice by this moron?

A few weeks back I was in Cleveland and biking through Gordon Square/Italian neighborhood. There was a chicken and cat walking around together in a vacant lot.
  17. I always wonder what happened to my old friend/nemesis Hts44112. I think the last post I saw from him was about going through some difficult stuff...and that was it.
  18. He moved to San Diego a few months before I did. Ironically he and his partner bought a house in the same neighborhood I ended up living in. Super nice guy. But he stopped communicating after that.
  19. Good news on the horizon, however with lack of funding it could be a fairly distant one. But you got to love this guy. Voice of San Diego Morning Report: RIP, These Highway Projects Aug. 11, 2021 Hasan Ikhrata has been clear since taking over SANDAG that the agency doesn’t have the money to build everything that voters approved with the 2004 sales tax measure TransNet, and that he wouldn’t want to build those projects even if the agency had the money, but he’s now getting more clear than ever about which old projects don’t fit into his new vision. During a meeting last month of an oversight committee for TransNet, Ikhrata spelled out that 21 unbuilt projects — 19 of them freeway enhancements — are not part of the regional plan through 2050 that officials on the SANDAG board are expected to approve this fall. SANDAG staff in a follow-up interview confirmed that unless the board objects, those old TransNet projects are dead. “These projects, not only do we not have the money to do them – they’re not the right projects for San Diego,” Ikhrata said. “We’re telling you that straight out. I thank you for listening to us.” Faulty revenue projections over-estimated how much TransNet would bring in, and the projects the agency completed ended up costing way more than expected, as Voice of San Diego first revealed in 2016. Now, Ikhrata said, the agency expects to have only $700 million available between now and 2048, almost all of it coming after 2035. Plus, state mandates have forced the agency’s hand in departing from its previous focus on highway expansion projects, to its new approach of building an integrated regional network with its backbone as a new, fast and frequent commuter rail system covering hundreds of miles around the county.

There's a fight for the future of the Democratic Party happening in Ohio Analysis by Chris Cillizza, CNN Editor-at-large Updated 6:30 PM ET, Tue August 3, 2021 (CNN)No matter who wins the Democratic nomination in Ohio's 11th District Tuesday night, there's an almost 0% chance of the seat being in any danger to a Republican takeover next fall. But that doesn't make the result unimportant. In fact, the race to replace Housing and Urban Development Secretary Marcia Fudge is actually an early test to see which part of the Democratic Party is in charge: younger, more liberal activists or older, more establishment types. Representing the former group is Nina Turner, a former state senator and one of the most prominent surrogates for Bernie Sanders' presidential campaigns. https://www.cnn.com/2021/08/03/politics/ohio-11-democratic-primary-nina-turner-shontel-brown/index.html
  21. The NFL sucks.
  22. No real leadership. Plenty of vision though for whatever that's worth. The lakefront of Cleveland, Ohio just continues to be a perpetual disappointment.
  23. I could be wrong but I don't remember reading anywhere that the place was not salvageable. Its renovation was part of the original plan, which was practically the best part of the plan imho. Also anyone who had been to Ingenuity Fest could see the potential the place had. We could have built on what was there. We could build incrementally and organically on a realistic budget. We could do millions of things really. But instead we are planning and planning some more, and parking there and waiting on billions of dollars to somehow materialize.

Just in case anybody doesn't think they play live....
