Cleveland: Streetscape Improvements
This is the city where along the exit ramps they'd erect big fancy billboards that said "CITY SIDE GARDENS" and in front would be a bunch small of dead trees, arranged like bowling pins.

Cleveland: Downtown: The Avenue District
As someone who used to walk through these parts quite a bit...that description is pretty apt lol. Crazy that just a few years back some people wondered if Masthead brewing would survive in "Siberia."

Cleveland Mayoral Race 2021
Wasn't that Eric Fingerhut? Or was there in fact two politicians this dumb?

Cleveland Mayoral Race 2021
True, but that's also ancient history. I mean, what other candidates have any executive experience?

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
This paved trail section would be much better as an elevated boardwalk imho. The sand/sediment coming down the hillside and even blowing from the beach have been a constant nuisance.

The potential issue I see with Wendy Park (as well as Gordon) from a beach perspective is that being largely behind the breakwall, the waters tend to be more stagnant and thus more sensitive to pollutants. Anyone who has worked in a highrise downtown can see the issues the area has with the river and urban runoff.

Cleveland Mayoral Race 2021
I was just thinking Kucinich does have the distinct advantage of having been mayor before. Anyhow it's going to be very interesting to see which issues each candidate prioritizes and how they perform in the debates.

Placement is really tacky.

Cleveland: Detroit-Shoreway / Gordon Square Arts District: Development News
It's been a while, but I also wanna say that the bulk of housing stock west of there is still mostly intact.

Not the only good thing...that hot water jetting out of the plant meant winter surfing in 70 degree water vs. 40...and summer surfing in 85 deg water...just like Costa Rica, but nope, you’re surfing in Avon.

Whoa, you just unlocked a repressed memory of sneaking onto the no-trespassing beach and hearing the gunshots haha

Cleveland: Detroit-Shoreway / Gordon Square Arts District: Development News
I feel like investing between downtown and Lakewood a no-brainer. What I don't seem to ever have a handle on is the timeline we're looking at...the pace of change can be...so......slow......

Cleveland: Transit Ideas for the Future
When I lived in Columbus they had drunk driving awareness billboard ads on the buses saying "Johnny drove drunk...so this is his new ride." [insert facepalm emoji]

Cleveland: Housing Market
Sent this to my friend and his brother. They're back in Ohio after spending the last ten years in Park Slope, Brooklyn and Chinatown. They had no intentions of ever moving from NY, until covid happened. They're originally from Columbus but both now considering Columbus, Cleveland, Lakewood & Cleveland Heights too. They work in film and advertising, work from home and said they personally know several more ex-pat Ohioans just like them who are coming back from NYC.

Cleveland: Scranton Peninsula: Development and News
I think the Thunderbird renderings looked so great that ever since then there's been quite a letdown. I say this even with Brewdog opening. But I sure hope you're right!

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
Does anyone remember a west side kid named "Arry Jettz" or something similar? He was shot and killed a few years back, but it was strange seeing kids that I recognized waving guns around in their videos.

“We are confident that turning this outdated facility, which currently operates fewer than 50 days per year, into usable public land will not only improve the quality of life for our community environmentally, but it will also beautify our lakefront for residents, entrepreneurs and visitors,” Zilka said in a statement released Wednesday." The beach there used to be really great with natural sand dunes and native grasses, truly a beautiful spot that could have doubled as a beach in the Carolinas. I have worked at several power plants and one silver lining to them is that areas within their borders or adjacent tend to re wild or naturally restore themselves; as in the case in Avon the plant property kept the area, to an extent, a protected sanctuary. Unfortunately an ill-advised erosion control plan destroyed the beach. It is now a very dangerous place to swim with no beach and a swirl of unpredictably bad current along an armored shoreline. Essentially that's the story of our coastline really.

^ There's something very tragic about that place going so cheaply and to a sole bidder.

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
^ Nice to see a morning spot going in there. More of that please.

I'd be super happy to see Magellan, Bedrock or the original Nucleus. But I'll be throwing my hat in the ring with: Lumen act II.

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
Some really great news today! I am hoping SHW looks more like the sleek & sexy Houston vs. the Toronto building cited in Ken's article....but you know what they say:

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
Ha! True. But I have to wonder if making money out of this was easy then theoretically there should be multiple entities battling over this right to develop this area.

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
So they’re planning on taking over the role of the former site developer?

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
Does anyone have any theories as to what is spurring the Haslam's to invest in this? Is the plan some kind of a mix of goodwill and strategic angling to solicit more public money for stadium improvements? To truly maximize usage that things gonna need a roof.
