  1. No matter what side you're on regarding this proposal, this all points to just how worthless the Jane Campbell era Lakefront Plan really was. The areas suitable for retail should've already been mapped out. The funds for utilities should've already been allotted for projects that meet an already set and acceptable criteria. Public access would be an integral component and not just an afterthought. Nope. It's still the wild west in many ways with no discernible plan in place.
  2. Love it, a true best case scenario! But I'm holding out some unlikely hope that the ground floor tenant is Bi-Rite.
  3. Wow. There's not even a passing resemblance to the original.

Best quote ever..... If there's a song in recorded existence, you can bet that Rick Beato has somehow obtained the isolated tracks.
  5. FYI developers are building other residential along the Shoreway. https://www.cleveland.com/business/2019/12/shoreline-apartments-owner-closes-167-million-land-deal-for-next-phase.html https://www.crainscleveland.com/real-estate/downtown-shoreway-housing-plans-are-delayed
  6. I have to agree. That's why if I were the city I'd be steering toward Asia Town/Midtown. That way the project could exist within the urban fabric (existing utilities etc) and be so much more accessible for everyone. The current proposal offers zero chance for spinoff development and has fairly constricted access points.
  7. Right. As long as preseason games are starters playing one drive or simply 4th string showcase, those "games" are pretty worthless. The preseason in every other sport makes sense, but NFL teams are so worried about injuries - and perhaps rightly so - they would rather start the actual season games looking like garbage.
  8. Residential.
  9. I'm back and forth on this. It's really too bad the idiotic decisions of the past (highway separation + lack of integration with the street grid) is the hallmark "benefit" of this development. Sins of the past. The destination aspect of this malls proposed entertainment and restaurants doesn't help the pre-existing venues downtown. It's the whole reason Gilbert made those concessions with the Casino. Maybe it's a different because the property is isolated, but still, it shouldn't even be isolated in the first place. And there's no real plan to correct this anytime soon, or ever. This is the type of retail project that could be a real shot in the arm for businesses in Asiatown, Warehouse District, etc. etc.
  10. Actually I'm going to predict traffic for the Chargers games won't be an issue. [edit] F_ _ _ SPANOS
  11. Nobody can convince me that purple color is tasteful on a building. But otherwise I do like the overall design.
  12. More needless highway, brought to you by the asphalt lobby. Some In Rural Florida Want Officials To Change Direction On Toll Roads February 21, 20205:00 AM ET Florida is planning a major expansion of its highways with a series of toll roads that would open new parts of the state to development. Exactly where the roads will go hasn't been announced yet, but opposition to the highways is growing in rural areas such as Jefferson County in North Florida. Mike Willis' family has lived there since before Florida became a state. He likes to refer to it as "the other Florida." "Most people think of Florida as palm trees, white sandy beaches," he says. "We have rolling clay hills and beautiful pine forests." https://www.npr.org/2020/02/21/807032774/some-in-rural-florida-want-officials-to-change-direction-on-toll-roads
  13. Guy was apparently a Miami U grad. Crazy.
  14. Agree. The party system seems in many ways like a racket. But all hope isn't lost imho. As of September 2019, Gallup polling found that 31% of Americans identified as Democrat, 29% identified as Republican, and 38% as Independent.
  15. I wish I could afford to buy the sign & everything else in that little spot - as is - and reopen somewhere down the street.
  16. Just as a point of reference, last night it cost me $20 to take Lyft home from SAN airport - a 6 mile trip. Public transportation would've cost $6 and would've taken ONE HOUR AND FORTY-FIVE MINUTES.
  17. The Rapid getting in and out of CLE is so great.
  18. Mostly agree. Hopkins is fine for a low-key second tier airport....but I'd like to see the cost-benefit of how investment could propel the economy for Northeast Ohio. Perhaps when the Sherwin Williams' issues are publicized that would give us all a better understanding of whether future expenditures are "reasonable."
  19. Sad day. https://www.mlb.com/news/sandy-alomar-stunned-by-tony-fernandez-s-death
  20. The Fan has their studios at Playhouse Square. They were of the mindset that PS would become the "it place" downtown and would lure restaurants and bars away from Warehouse District and E4. They didn't offer any evidence as far as I know. Nor do I even remember them even mentioning the Lumen.
  21. It's going to be really something watching these go up! And I'm super confident BOTH will go up.....even though naming something "phase II" seems like a kiss of death around NEO hahaha.
