Cleveland: Local Media News & Discussion
Right. Like, not organic at all. This thing was the complete opposite. And I'm not the least bit surprised Dan Moulthrop was a part of it. Loved him at WCPN, but he seems to have since devoted his career to worthless, corporate neo-political seminars.

They appear to sporadically work on the new adjacent structure. I don't think they've updated their FB page in months.

^ Never noticed that space is kind of an eyesore. Seems a good idea to extend a patio.

Nice. It's one thing to hold a floofy feel-good event where everyone talks a lot and accomplishes nothing. But to spend this much on facilitators? What a waste.... Lest there be any confusion, Cleveland Rising was a corporate relations seminar reconfigured as a regional planning summit at eye-popping expense. The fee for the facilitators from Case Western Reserve University alone was roughly $300,000, half of the total money raised. https://www.clevescene.com/cleveland/why-cleveland-rising-was-doomed-to-fail/Content?oid=31718755

Didn't Beer Engine brew small batches of their Buckeye beer on location? I can't remember. They had some good stuff. Bottlehouse is pretty sweet. Nice to have another brewery in the Wood.

MAC: General Conference News & Discussion
How the Rise of MACtion Forever Changed MAC Fandom Midweek football games are great for TV viewers. They’re less great for fans and students of teams in the MAC. Here’s how a scheduling quirk became a national phenomenon—and how it’s affected those who stand in mostly empty stadiums in freezing temperatures. By Rodger Sherman Nov 19, 2019, 2:14pm EST I have been in love with Mid-American Conference football for about eight years now. This may seem strange, because I did not attend a MAC school, nor did any of my family members or close friends. I went to college in northern Illinois, but have never met anyone who went to Northern Illinois University. My closest connection to MAC football is my girlfriend’s former roommate. When she told me that she vaguely knew Dri Archer during her time at Kent State, I felt compelled to ask her dozens of questions about it. I’d like to think my love for the MAC blossomed out of its many beautiful, unusual football phenomena. I got deeply invested in the 2011 Toledo team that lost a nationally televised game 63-60 one week, then won another nationally televised game 66-63 the next. I stumped for NIU quarterback Jordan Lynch’s 2013 Heisman Trophy campaign. I told anyone who would listen that 13-0 Western Michigan deserved a spot in the 2016 playoff. And I made the case that Buffalo’s Tyree Jackson should have been a first-round NFL draft pick this spring. I even tried to train my dogs to high-five me like former Northern Illinois mascot Diesel the Husky high-fived his trainers. https://www.theringer.com/2019/11/19/20972679/mac-midweek-games-maction-television-networks-fan-experience

Bern, Switzerland 2019
Nice! There's something so warm and inviting about all those peaked buildings. Flat rooftops just don't seem to have the same warmth imho.

Cleveland: Random Development and News
Great point. In the 50's and 60's there was a strong trend toward a sleeker, futuristic aesthetic. Old haunted looking buildings were out.

Cleveland: Outlet Mall Proposal for Lakefront
Canada too. I'm surprised Dan Gilbert INC isn't courting this kind of development along the river. I think my biggest worry about this project is the architecture. The current renderings make it obvious the "back of the building" is facing out toward the lake. I thought we were past that. No builder would obstruct oceanfront views and I'm not sure I understand why views of Lake Erie don't have the same value.

https://www.cleveland.com/metro/2019/11/man-threatens-to-kill-downtown-cleveland-bar-employee-during-robbery-police-say.html Harris is a registered sex offender who has been convicted in 19 felony cases since 1994, including for burglary in 2019. He was sentenced to three years in prison in 2005 for abduction and gross sexual imposition. The victims in the case were 13 and 14 years old. The fact this guy was ever allowed out of jail is really an indictment on the justice system.

Cleveland: Outlet Mall Proposal for Lakefront
We already have an urban streetgrid and huge unused buildings that can be repurposed for such things. This is just a very bad location for this thing. Now if it was designed to compliment the unique lakefront views, aesthetic it would be great. But this is going to look like hot garbage.

These NFL pass interference reviews are a complete joke. Actually the whole league is a joke. I feel like we are all dumber for watching.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
It's a little bit tragic how the Browns went from the underdog everyone was rooting for last season to the villains of the NFL. This hasn't been fun.

Cleveland: Downtown: Huntington Bank Field
Once upon a time a good friend was the "Tech Czar" for the city. I thought it would be funny to disguise my voice and leave him a voicemail as the CEO of Boeing, looking to relocate. He will never forgive me.

Now that IS interesting. Will anyone miss Cumberland's plan? I have to say I liked it a lot less when they nixed the adaptive reuse portion. Here's hoping all of the relevant stakeholders in the Lakefront are in the same room, so to speak.

Haslam reminds me of Jerry Jones in some ways. I'm sure a guy with resources like Haslam is desirous of a Dallas-type of stadium.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
It was nice to catch some of the game on tv vs. stat watching. I love the energy. Will be interesting to see if Cedi and Nance can break out of the role player mold. These guys need to score more imho. Tough to believe the son of Larry Sr. isn't already a great mid-range shooter. Still, these guys are always seem to be giving 100 percent which is refreshing. And is J. Clarkson looking like a Sixth Man candidate or what?

What are you watching?
Just binged it over the weekend. Man the directors really strung you along with back and forth evidence. Some reviewer brought up a good point, I think. The doc should have either been shortened to two hours, or made longer and more in-depth. The Jerusalem trial was quite cringeworthy not only from a legal perspective (show trial), but from trying to decipher Demjanjuk's behavior, which was incomprehensible. Strangely, they slowed down most of the major events, but only to quickly gloss over the very major evidence toward the end that led to his later extradition to Germany.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
There's been quite a bit of game mismanagement this season. Plus the offense has been really out of sync, save for the Ravens game. But nice to see the W today, even though the Browns really should have won by 14.
