  1. Haha. Yeah that new tough guy routine comes off as more than a little desperate. [edit] And actually a pretty hilarious conspiracy theory is that the London rumor was circulated by Stan Kroenke. It's no secret that he is royally pissed off at the Spanos clan. If not Stan it was definitely someone high up in the League who put this out there.
  2. Column: Chargers’ big win shows why they deserve to play where they’ll be appreciated By BILL PLASCHKE NOV. 3, 2019 The punchline punched back. The interlopers owned the joint. On a bodacious yet bittersweet Sunday, the Chargers showed they belong somewhere, anywhere. But just not here. https://www.latimes.com/sports/chargers/story/2019-11-03/chargers-performance-packers-shows-they-dont-deserve-play-los-angeles
  3. Right! Here's hoping SW takes this same approach that makes the SD project so promising: The project was designed to integrate seamlessly into the urban fabric of the city and to enhance the pedestrian and residential experience as well as the visual experience from the ballpark.
  4. Two Steps from Hell... Hell = fire. I knew it....it's the Cuyahoga River site hahahaha
  5. I remember there being some bad blood between Graffiti and the neighbor with noise complaints, etc. The large fence could've been an attempt toward alleviation. Anyhow the space reminds me a lot of Jukebox in Hingetown. Maybe the new owners should just copy everything they do lol.

^ Good grief! Those are really...something. Also the guy is totally wrong about those all blue Philly uniforms. Those are amazing.

I think the Browns need to take some advice from the late great Tony Gwynn. Remember these two things: play hard and have fun. Anyone else notice since game 1 the Cleveland Browns have looked absolutely miserable. Why is that?
  8. The smaller Targets near me all have groceries. I'm not sure Heinens could survive corporate competition just yet.
  9. Hundreds of talented journalists have roamed these halls. A partial list of local legends would include Ben Maidenburg, Paul Poorman, Fran Murphey, Al Fitzpatrick, Julius Greenfield, Betty Jaycox, d*ck Shippy, Polly Paffilas, Chuck Ayers, Dale Allen, Stuart Warner, Ott Gangl, Terry Pluto, Sheldon Ocker, Jewell Cardwell, Regina Brett, Jane Snow, David Giffels, Marla Ridenour, Betty Lin-Fisher and, of course, Bob Dyer. No love for Chuck Klosterman, Brian Windhorst & Chris Broussard?
  10. ^ Great article. Change of course happens and this is a good change but it's a little bittersweet. I do miss that Bi-Rite, so convenient to walk to. When I moved to Lakewood there were still babushka-clad ladies all over Birdtown. That store was like walking into a foreign country with their European chocolate and desserts I'd never heard of, numerous jars of food that normally don't come in jars and several varieties of cheap-as-hell Baltika beer to try out. In later years it was the Asian guy (owner) behind the lunch counter charging you for a pound but giving you two pounds of sliced meat or cheese, old people paying their bills, obsessed instant lottery hawks and the friendly check out girl who lived upstairs, illegally, in the old dance studio. Every now and then when I'm back in Lakewood I'll see some random elderly man, dressed up in an old suit for some church event or funeral and just slowly walking through the neighborhood and checking out everything new and old. End of an era!

Good weather today. They’ll focus on playing smarter. Browns will win it!
  12. SUBSCRIBED!!!
  13. It's mildly funny that the company tasked with finding tenants comprised 25% of the buildings full time employees.
  14. Cool to see the adaptive reuse of the church building.
  15. Does anyone know how they'll handle the noise issue from the food truck generators? In my experience they're usually pretty loud.
  16. Again, "easy access" is something that nobody is arguing for. I used to park in the Flats and walk right past their paint testing plates which are clearly visible from outside their fence. They're located alongside a public waterway, what reasonable expectation of privacy could there be at that location?
  17. ^ In San Diego too the trend is steadily moving toward more public access along the waterfront. The Port and US Navy are working with developers to make this happen.
  18. Honest question: do you think it's unreasonable to ensure a pubic access along the river?
  19. I don't think anyone is asking for unfettered access. Just don't monopolize the river, that's all.
  20. Also looking forward to some skyline massings, but I think @GISguy has made an excellent point. Public access to the river should be a given.
  21. Ha! Or worse, surrounded by "art." But your point is indeed a scary one.

You trying to make me jealous of Galveston and Brownsville?

California has done a pretty good job of maintaining beach access. Any major development project is going to be under strict scrutiny from the Coastal Commission.
  24. What? You don't want to hear "Shoine ya shooze, guvnahhh?" whilst walking through Public Square?
