  1. Seems like this is an okay thread for this. I didn't realize downtown Tampa was getting so much investment. https://urbanland.uli.org/development-business/3-billion-project-transforming-downtown-tampa/
  2. Right. I’d like to see some idea that they’re going to properly address the clumsy separation between buildings. That is one aspect of Baltimore’s Inner Harbor - the sensible pedestrian flow - that I wish we could just blatantly steal.
  3. Cautiously optimistic. I need to see more. What is the outdoor pedestrian flow going to be like? Is this merely going to be a ground floor gerbil tube for winter use? We need to see more asap!!
  4. Lol. Or heaven forbid, have a place for parents to patronize while the kids are skating. Hooples is gonna be fine. It’s a cool little spot. Still waiting to see what happens with the Pats in the Flats property. If I had the extra money....
  5. I’m having flashbacks to that pizza guy who argued the skate park was going to ruin his business.
  6. ^ right on. If the boardwalk doesn’t really go anywhere it’s not functioning properly.
  7. This is possibly worse than Gundarena. Sometimes I wonder if Dan is one of those super tacky guys who would put porcelain fountains all throughout his McMansion. Anyhow...RIP “Deep in the Q”

Yikes. That stat - TBL with a 17-3 advantage in goals vs CBJ is very sobering.
  9. Art galleries and workspace are kind of like those first trees in a field that grow back into a forest. They are eventually overtaken by other kinds of trees, but they importantly start the whole process of regrowth. Perhaps it's simply time for those Little Italy artists to kick start another part of town.
  10. Nice response to the article. If they can build a stadium downtown sign me up for season tickets. We would immediately have a stadium, albeit smaller and for a team a league below, in a better location than a lot of MLS teams whose stadiums are out in suburbs or surrounded by nothingness making the trip for fans who live in the city prohibitive. Im looking at you Chicago, Denver, Columbus, Salt Lake, New York Red Bulls. Also having Columbus and Cincinnati from MLS to possibly play in meaningful US Open Cup games and having Pittsburgh as a USL Chanpionship rival is a very exciting prospect!
  11. ^Agree. I’m no authority on architecture but I’m glad these look different than the last crop of buildings like Flipside, Beerhead, etc.
  12. I feel lucky to have worked for almost a year in this amazing building. One thing I’m intrigued about is how they plan on making retail more visible. Most people seemingly had no idea about the array businesses that existed hidden away inside.

^ yeah that went just like I assumed it would lol. I recommend Markys book. Lots of great insight on that cbgbs era.
  14. 8 Story - 275 unit Appartment Building To Tower Over Bunts and Parkwood at Detroit A Columbus developer is trying to get city approval to build a HUGE 8 story building on Detroit between Bunts and Parkwood. It will stick out like a sore thumb in the neighborhood. It will add over 350 cars daily around the Bunts - Detroit intersection. This is important to all Lakewood residents. This mammoth building is a sign of things to come in Lakewood. This developer has already purchased another property and will look for more if he is initially successful with this project. He plans to puts these buildings as close as 12 feet to adjacent single family home properties, towering over the neighborhood and destroying the charm of our fine hometown.. We must take a stand. Once he is successful with the first project your neighborhood may be next. Our Lakewood leaders want listening to us on two occasions. The Planning Commission will meet this Thurs 4-4 at 7pm at city hall auditorium. The Architectural Board meets on Thurs 4-11 at 5:30pm at city hall auditorium. The developer will have designs and renderings of the proposed buildings at these meetings. We have a strong group trying to fight for a reasonable size development but we need more people at these meetings for support. You can speak if you wish but even just numbers at these meetings will help our voices to be heard. This is the first of what may be more huge apartment buildings hovering over our neighborhoods. We need numbers at these meetings. Your neighborhood may be next if he succeeds. PLEASE COME AND HELP US STOP UNCONTROLED DEVELPOEMENT IN OUR LOVELY HOMETOWN. WE NEED OUR FELLOW CITIZENS FOR SUPPORT! THANK YOU Pat Neff Parkwood in Lakewood
  15. ^ I like it. Every little step forward that shows a place is cared for, and worth something. The Flats are too cool and historic to exist for so long looking like a wasteland out of the movie “Warriors.”
  16. Re: distance. Here’s the latest email from Green Ribbon Coalition: First of all, we are happy to report the City is leaning towards adopting the concept of a Harbor Land Bridge extending Mall C to the Rock Hall and Science Center.
  17. ^ UO should do a calendar of just drills and cranes lol.
  18. My guess would be that the future incarnation of the stadium will be much more of a multi-use facility. Also if the connectivity goes as hoped and is planned out well, the Lakefront will be best suited to accommodate large crowds.
  19. ^^Dee Haslam: "We have this huge asset so I think it’s really important that we connect to the waterfront. And that people … the city people are moving back into town. And you want to be able to run along the water and access the water. I think those are the first two priorities that we have to think about before we think about what else we can do to our stadium." When billionaires start echoing you sentiments, that’s a good sign.
  20. ^ Ya gotta love those early team names!
  21. ^ can not wait to see this in person. Are they doing approx. one floor every two weeks?
  22. He needs to go back to silent mode. He's the owner of a billion dollar franchise talking money in an economically-ravaged city. Normal people don't want to hear any semblance of financial complaints coming from Mr. Dolan, even if he's correct it's just plain bad optics. As for criticizing the other CLE owners...have at it. Their ever-increasing wealth insulates them from the judgment of mere mortals like us.
  23. Seriously though. If Dolan really wants to burn bridges he needs to take some lessons from his cousin in NY. Now that guy knows how to enrage a loyal fan base! A real genius. Heres hoping he sells the team. He can get his billion dollars and finally shut the hell up about money.
  24. The Montreal Indians!!
  25. As per the Lakewood Observer FWIW, the developer allegedly wasn’t aware of the presence of an underground river. And more interestingly, the entire project was allegedly a conspiracy, predicated to shift money toward gubernatorial candidate Ed Fitzgerald. [popcorn emoji]
