  1. I wonder if impending development plans have any bearing on that strange bar that's sometimes open. Is it the Lakefront? The place is like a time capsule inside because it was closed up for 20 years. Has anyone been there or have any insights on the future of the site?
  2. The headline is panic-inducing lol. AG doen't own the building, their landlord is selling it.
  3. Playing at JCU or BW may make sense in some regards, but I think the suburbs are a surefire recipe for failure.
  4. Tony George lol. Guy needs his own thread. Yes Lilliana's is the name, thanks. I'm sorry I didn't make it over to Barroco to ask them what happened. And this is hearsay, but I heard that Georges bunker is already housing tenants. Also, that weird Nationality Broadcasting building looks like it's getting RENOVATED. If any building in Lakewood needs to be flattened it's that one. But, instead they destroyed the flophouse place that looked interesting and at least had a proper storefront. I try not to get too much into Lakewood politics because I don't want to become any more negative and hateful.
  5. Idea. If an entity, be it governmental or private or combination thereof, created and strategically placed large "free" parking structures connected to shuttle service thru downtown, wouldn't that be a good way to devalue surface lots? You've now got thousands of fish in a barrel, so to speak. You could recapture some of the expense by leasing out a variety of retail there, perhaps with enough momentum these places become their own destination. Eventually you build residential on top, like the glorious Beacon bldg in CLE. What's stopping this from happening?
  6. Yes! But with better frequency. And without those tacky tires lol.
  7. Not to get too far off topic, but what if the city built strategically placed parking structures and provided shuttles a streetcar thru downtown? That would certainly devalue the surface lots. * I figure since I'm dreaming here I'll make it a good one
  8. Great point. Do you have any insights on the bridal shop? It seemed a lot of people were excited for the salsa place. I did at least hear a rumor that Birdtown's historic designation prevented the dispensary, which floors me that a developer wouldn't know this prior to investing.
  9. Questions: When I visited the 'Wood recently I was shocked to see 1. the live salsa music club that Barroco folks were opening turned into a bridal shop, and 2. the Dispensary turned into a very strange looking and perhaps atomic bomb-proof residential building. I read news online 18 hours a day, every day. So why the hell didn't I know these things happened?
  10. Those views are worth every penny. The Rock Hall really must activate that wasted blank space ASAP. It shouldn’t be difficult.
  11. Much appreciated. Wishing you guys get some good business.
  12. Really? I think I need a larger monitor lol. I still don't like the shrubs. Even the trees look placed to cover up how bland and lifeless the ground floor is looking.
  13. The problem was never with a lack of sweeping transformational ideas, but a lack of sweeping transformational actions.
  14. I like Bialosky's stuff for the most part. I don't like that ground floor brick they're proposing. It's....standoffish?
  15. There must be a way to allow for growth but still keep a places character intact. Man I hate generic architecture. Especially so when century old buildings are destroyed in the process.
  16. My neighbor recently installed glass block on his basement windows. All I can think about is there being a fire and he's trapped in the basement because his windows no longer open. And the last thing he ever sees before succumbing to smoke inhalation is glass block.
  17. ^ Yeah, that looks really nice at street level.
  18. Thanks for posting. Glad to read that these are still featured. nuCLEus will introduce laneways to downtown Cleveland, a unique form of urban place making originating in Melbourne, Australia. The laneway at nuCLEus will be a tight intimate space that offers al fresco eateries, one-off shops and cozy little bars, all nestled side-by-side in a unique alley setting with its own individual character and charm.
  19. Well now that you mention, it is rather homely haha!
  20. ^ Good news. Does anyone know whether this lot just west of 1255 Euclid is a realistic development opportunity? It's not the worst thing in the city, but it's a pretty significant gap in the street wall.

Williams has kind of grown on me. But someone brought up a good point on the sports radio this a.m. The Browns defense had some good moments, but overall they stunk. The Raider game....yeesh. It's inexcusable that they ranked 30th in the league in total yards. That was Greg's job.

  23. Did you post this as a sinister kind of experiment? Because it's working!!

Akron used to smell like a giant Twinkie. It made you feel hungry all day. Then at night some place would burn tires or something similarly noxious when I lived by Annandale St. Akron, a city of contrasts. I really miss biking to work thru Ohio City, especially late summer mornings when you hit a wave of Great Lakes Oktoberfest being brewed. The water treatment plant just south of DT Columbus smelled exactly like Edgewater Park circa 1992. It mildly burned your throat, just like the waters of Lake Erie used to. Very nostalgic!

Considering Lakers WITH LeBron had to squeak out a W vs. CLE, I'd say that's a fair assessment.
