  1. I'd be glad to see Burke become a great small airport with spin-off development [see Geis's original proposals] with public access trails along the periphery. We could still have the air show and hopefully even the IndyCar race again. But as a blank slate it's really exciting to imagine what can be accomplished. At its heart, I would redevelop Burke as the largest wetland reclamation project in the state of Ohio. Ohio has lost something like 97 percent of its wetlands along the lake which has been disastrous for water quality. This mitigation would be dramatically symbolic of righting past wrongs, illuminating how we can move forward with more sustainable development practices and values. Now the exciting part. I'd reserve 25-30 percent of the site for "islands" of development with as much public access as possible, maybe mid rise residential and retail on the western part to compliment North Coast Harbor. Maybe some high rise residential sprinkled throughout too, connected by a limited amount of raised streets and boardwalks. Then at the eastern portion a low rise residential neighborhood. Think beach houses connected by a series of boardwalks. It's fun to dream.

What's the point of keeping a coach than can't coach winning? Continuity of losing? Because it's hard to bring in another one? This organization has set the lowest bar for HC employment since at least the AFL-NFL merger. I'm really confused as to why some fans still want him around. Okay I'm curious who you would hire if you were GM?
  3. Hey Mods, is there an "Ideas for Burke" thread? I'd like to contribute without getting the Axe :-)
  4. ^ Would love to see that happen. Besides, the platform is already there!

Any publicity is good publicity....unless it's this publicity. What is the most evil company and why? Some real interesting information about Cincy's own Chiquita Brands.

Jurevicius didn’t want to talk about specifics of the crime but he told the I-Team, “I support the police department. I support the FBI. I support the American flag. I support the bald eagle. I bleed red white and blue. I sometimes sing 'America the Beautiful' in my sleep.”
  7. It looks like the shadow is trying to touch the shadow in front of him's junk... Thanks! Now I can't unsee that lol.
  8. Eh, not a great fan of that art. But anything's a drastic improvement over that fungus or whatever's been covering the tower for years.

That Walgreens Pharmacy, from what I remember, is like the most profitable location in the region. While it's not great urban design it's been there for a long long time. Also Clifton Ave West of W117 was pretty much in good condition prior to the Clifton streetscape. It didn't need the complete overhaul that was done East of W117. Anyhow I'm hopeful that one day pedestrians and cyclists will be able to cross Clifton without the fears of being run over.
  10. If you watch any true crime documentary there's inevitably a point in the story where the police just screw up royally. Families of six Anthony Sowell victims reach $1 million settlement with Cleveland over detective's botched investigation By Cory Shaffer, cleveland.com CShafferCleveland[/member].com CLEVELAND, Ohio - The City of Cleveland has agreed to pay $1 million to the families of six women who fell victim to condemned serial-killer Anthony Sowell after a botched police investigation into a 2008 rape accusation allowed Sowell to walk out of jail with no charges. The families of Nancy Cobbs, Telacia Fortson, Amelda Hunter, Le'Shanda Long, Diane Turner, and Janice Webb will divvy up the $1 million equally as part of an agreement to settle a lawsuit that was filed in 2010, dismissed by a county judge in 2014 and revived by an appeals court late last year. The City of Cleveland, which will not admit any wrongdoing as part of the settlement, also agreed to reimburse the families' lawyers for the cost of bringing the eight-year lawsuit. https://www.cleveland.com/court-justice/index.ssf/2018/09/families_of_six_anthony_sowell.html

Except for the two coaches on the staff that have already been HC's.... The guys who failed at being a head coach lol. Haley is 19-26 with a playoff appearance... Not great numbers but certainly an upgrade at this point. I get ya. But doesn't Haley need to focus 100 percent on the offense?

And who replaces Hue Jackson? There's nobody on this staff qualified to be HC.
  14. It's fine as long as they are not transgender. I suppose so! I know Mr. George has done some good things in the community. He's also been a Democrat, though he will support Republican candidates at times. This issue could be a case of an an old guy just being an out of touch old guy. Or perhaps there really is no moral objection and he seriously thinks the proposed policies will hurt his business interests.
  15. The real irony of George's worry about his niece potentially getting assaulted in the bathroom is that there was an actual child rapist in the Town Hall/Harry Buffalo ownership group.
  16. Unless his son disavows it, I am done with his restaurants too. Townhall's twitter said they'll be releasing a statement supporting LGBT rights. Hasn't happened as of 10 minutes ago though. Sounds like damage control lol.
  17. Tony George lost me years ago when he expressly said he has no emotional attachment to his restaurants. I'd much rather support small business owners who are emotionally invested. Anyway if certain places are going to shut down and move elsewhere then good for them. Have fun in Alabama.

^ Congrats and best of luck during your service!
  19. I don't know. To make me wonder?
  20. Yes, aka The Curtis block.
  21. Yet they show windows on Detroit Ave. Why even bother?
  22. And the award for best new forumer goes to...........
  23. I never thought of that but absolutely, opening the south makes good sense. I'm just worried about blank wall space. We have enough of that in Lakewood and it's awful. p.s. Curtis Block! Forgot the name.
  24. Maybe? But here's the earlier render.
  25. I was so glad they were going to open up windows or storefronts on the west wall of the existing building. Now I'm not at all optimistic that will happen.
