  1. @KJP I was thrilled to read this comment, Ken, in your updated article. I remember one instance ~ 40 years ago hiking nearby the then dredged fill around Gordon park and literally being choked by the large amount of solvents emanating from the fresh dredge. It was an eye opening experience to learn first hand just how polluted the river and harbor dredge was. Great reporting!
  2. @Cleburger "Cleveland - Venice of the North coast. Malaria and duty-free"
  3. Hello UO environmental remediation experts, I don't currently live in Cleveland, so forgive my ignorance. Is it actually true that there are not multiple sites that could constitute 40 contiguous acres of land that isn't - figuratively speaking - sitting on a former Superfund site? Seems bizarre that one would propose residential housing, even in the form of a jail at this site.
  4. Hey now! Im guessing 16 cents per gallon! ( that's odd. They don't even have a "cents" symbol on keyboards anymore. Wonder why? 😉)
  5. @cadmen, You effectively captured in words what i have felt about this building for its entire existence. Soul -sucking in so many ways. Blehh.
  6. @scg80Case exec's have spoken for years about removing a building to open up the campus to M.L.K. Blvd. Unfortunately, not a lot of space available on the Case Quad. Let's see what they do here.
  7. $5K for the wire. $445K to know how to entangle it properly.
  8. Hey, @KJP You are absolutely right! Hey, even Bernie is in the house. He fired up his time machine. Things are definitely on the up and up!
  9. Cough cough.. Did someone mention trees? Bosco Verticale , Milan PS: the Chief arborist is likely a very lucrative assignment... maybe generational in scope
  10. Nice! See the open space around each tree. Allows oxygen to permeate into the soil for healthy root development. Contrast to whatever was going on with the failed Public Square tree plantings that @Ethanhas diligently been tracking.
  11. This is certainly beyond my expertise. Watson's original contract with the Texans was written in 2017. A lot has changed in the NFL over the past five years. Here is what Terry Pluto had to say.
  12. OK, i'll challenge you on this one. Watson's new contract reportedly has built in language in regards to future violations of certain types of behavior. Why would the Browns want to give Watson a legal out by facilitating these same behaviors?
  13. PS @Ethan. Can you identify what are the species of the trees that died and were removed?
  14. Thanks @Ethan. Have we UO contributors ever established whether or not there is an underground irrigation system at PS? One would think that someone in charge in the former "Forest City" would have cracked the code that trees need a consistent water source.
  15. Obviously a phased approach...one can't just up and plant seasonal flowering native plants in the middle of the Summer. Yet, all of the reporter's presentations here are reminiscent of this famous story: "the most marvelous cloth .. invisible to anyone who was unfit for their office or unforgivably stupid."
  16. Meaning...the artificial plants are temporary until the real ones are planted in the Fall?
  17. @KJP, do you or anyone else have a synopsis of where the principal players of the Playhouse Square revitalization ended up afterwards? A "where are they now" follow up? Thanks.
  18. I, for one. will be stopping by this new indoor park on my way to visit the paint museum on Public Square. Wait, what's that? No paint museum? OK, more time to spend enjoying the park.
  19. Panthers were, of course, one of the teams competing with the Browns to trade for DW. So, i'm thinking the Browns organization feel they came out on top here.
  20. DO_Summers replied to gottaplan's post in a topic in Ohio Business and Economy
Well, they shared with us that one purpose of the new headquarters was to help recruit the next generation of employees. Maybe they should start paying attention. Just saying...!

Cough...cough. sliding article across table in front of SHW.
  22. Oh no! At about 11 pm tonight, Ken receives an email from Jimmy Haslam that based on this article, the Browns have canceled all feasibility studies and no longer have plans to upgrade or build a new Browns stadium in Cleveland. 🥺
  23. Ah, a spicy dust up designed to bring more page views to NEOTrans and UO both. Brilliant Ken! Just kidding, @KJP. I too stand behind and appreciate both your journalism and opinions. Also, when you later announce a run for the Planning Commission, the added name recognition can't not help 😉.
