The Official *I Love Cleveland* Thread
No doubt! My own rock star story was seeing the Beach Boys walk by at the Ohio state fair sometimes in the 1960's and hearing my mother tisk-tisk because of their long hair and shabby appearance. My hunch is that@KJP became the internet star that he is for the sole reason to share that story with us. LOL @

Cleveland: Cleveland State University: Development and News
I have a legitimate question, but first I need to loosely disclose my age by saying I haven't attended a concert in a large arena for perhaps 40 years. Is there a difference in the acoustic quality in these various large venues such as Wolstein Center or RMFH or does all the sound get amplified so much with huge speaker stacks that it is a moot point? Sorry for the interruption. Please carry on your conversation about loading docks or the lack thereof. 😉 D.O.

@Ethan In regard to late afternoon sun and without any investigation of the sun coordinates described above, aren't we going to lose that sunshine on the square regardless of which lot the main tower is constructed? Hope not. What we need is a tall, skinny headquarters. @KJP Great article. Enjoyed your references to "inside baseball." Keep it up! As a former Clevelander, I'm reading your content daily on this site and your blog.- Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
Ooh - A color changing tower -- sort of like the Terminal Tower LED light displays only in the daytime. Active color coatings. Now, we are cooking with gas! Maybe a "shape-shifting" tower is the next consideration? Good things happen to he/she/they who waits.- Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
Time to launch a write-in campaign. Dear Meesrs. Sherwin-Williams, We members of the UrbanOhio.com community are here to offer our support over the next three years to your HQ design process. Our point of departure is found in the link pasted below of 2019 worldwide paint/coating sales distribution. Lo and behold, there seems to be a tie-in to a portion of your market to a favorite topic of our community. Yes, Architecture! Apparently 40% of the worldwide market share of the paint/coatings per the sourced link below. https://www.statista.com/statistics/887116/distribution-paint-and-coatings-sales-value-by-category/ Let's drill it down. There's the linkage between your own market opportunities and your need to inspire and recruit the next generation of SW employees. Great! And we are here to help. Obviously, with no other intentions other than our appreciation for great architecture, a shared love of the city of Cleveland, and a sincere gratitude for the economic activity your company brings to NE Ohio. The gift of a link between thoughtful architecture generating creative inspiration for your employees and your future customers' needs is the best "win-win" opportunity that could be imagined. Again, don't feel shy if you wish to reach out to us anytime 24/7 (which apparently is the exact amount of time many of us are spending on this board impatient for the next dropped clue!) Respectively Yours, UrbanOhio.com Special Design and Architectural Advisory Team- Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
Haha! SW moving HQ to Atlanta after all?- Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
Hey Guys, With no malice intended, maybe we aren't the right target audience. SW told us the new headquarters will be used to attract and retain top talent. I read this to mean Millenials or thereafter Gen Z +. Thus, we shouldn't be surprised if design specifications for Training & Excellence Center are focused on an iconic rope course, paintball turf area to keep competing teams from spilling out onto the square. What did I leave out? Oh yeah, escape rooms and Hookah bar. With appreciation to all contributors here. Glad we have the ability to enjoy this discussion and *perhaps* gently nudge the design arc towards a great outcome.- Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
First time poster who is not a pro, but just a lover of great architecture... And reiterating what others have eloquently expressed here, this site just cries out for a building that is not a copy of the BOK glass box regardless of whatever features they add to the top floors. I recall the initial disappointment in a discussion with the sculptor Viktor Schrenkengost when the Sohio/BP tower was first revealed. The design turns out it has aged well. Not sure if it is by our long time familiarity or, in fact, was solidly designed. Anyway, pairing it across the square with a glass box feels discombobulated. - Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
