  1. In my time working at TQL (4 months right out of college), I once filled out the Best Places to Work survey just to get a free breakfast. Mostly because I wasn't actually paid enough to afford to eat. I also referred a number of people to the company to get time off so I could interview other places (literally I think they gave you 5 days of PTO a year and you were expected to work 6 days a week).
  2. I wanted to chime in here. Downtown is increasingly less safe for pedestrians. You also say that cars driving 35 (only 5 miles below the speed limit that will likely cause serious injury or death) isn't fast, that is speeding downtown, its actually 10 over. Having almost been hit by two cars yesterday at the intersection that you're very passionately advocating becomes more car friendly. How would you like someone speeding down your residential street going 10 over? While they're at it, let's have them run a stop sign or two while someone is getting ready to safely cross the street. I'm sure you'd be thrilled. Additionally, you 100% can die being hit by a car at any speed. Pedestrians need better visibility, for themselves, as well as for cars to see them. That is what a bump out will allow. It seems like the war isn't on cars, but in reality, is a war on safe pedestrian access, bike access, and better transit access. However, you're self centered and you're not willing to sit in an extra two minutes of traffic (something that I rarely see in this block) for the good of the entire population.
  3. Plus the 300-apartment addition to City Club at 4th/Vine!
  4. I know this is a late response to the statue being stolen, and stealing is bad, but..... this statue was literally a gift from Mussolini (likely why it was stolen). https://www.cincinnati.com/story/news/2020/01/06/should-statue-gift-mussolini-removed-eden-park-cincinnati/2829704001/
  5. I feel hopeful that we could get this! A Chinese Lithium Battery component supplier (Semcorp, which is also a supplier to LG) is building in SW Ohio as well so the ecosystem is building out. This seems like a really exciting time to be in Ohio! For the first time in my life as an Ohioan, it feels like we're keeping up with modern tech and will be at the forefront of a growing industry.
  6. I value face time with leadership, however, there are just as many studies that show remote work increases productivity. This increase in productivity won't be the case for all people, which is why there will likely remain a mix of options for associates to choose from, and encouraged in the future. From my experience as a Recruiter, I have yet to see companies choosing to be remote impact anyone's ability to grow a career in a company, in fact, I've only seen the opposite be true with jobs that were previously location-specific become available for associate and candidates to choose to do remotely.
  7. I walk the area daily, the entire area from around Liberty, Central, Main, and Reading need to be improved dramatically. This by no means should be about what street is worse than each other, but should be focused on how the roads are increasingly less safe for pedestrians in the area.
  8. Sorry for the long, probably unorganized post that's going to follow. I strongly disagree, living in the area (two blocks away from The Hub and the crosswalk in question) I can count the number of times a day that I almost get hit by a car either on 12th or Main. I've also made eye contact with drivers as they speed up to avoid waiting 30 seconds. Two weeks ago a car hit a building two doors down from me as they drunkenly speed down 12th (a residential street) to get to I-71. Myself and many of my neighbors refuse to walk our dogs to the bathroom after a certain time because on any nice day you can stand and watch car after car blow through all stop signs and red lights headed to the highway. I've also been in direct communication with the city about the issues, including being escalated to the mayor's office, between this and the attention The Hub has received it's hard to imagine change not coming. Something has to give because it's truly getting out of hand. I would love to see the city invest in as many deterrents as possible to slow traffic and make it harder for people to drive. As far as the busses, I'd be supportive of moving bus routes to Sycamore, a block away since it is already a two-way road, and closing a section of Main permanently. To be completely honest, my life will be much easier knowing that I can walk through a cross walk to go to Kroger without having to worry about getting hit by a car.
  9. The BurgerFi spot at the banks would be a great locations, since I doubt we'll see BurgerFi reopening. But a Shake Shack might be the only reason worth me driving to Liberty Center for anything TBH.
  10. I couldn't think of anything better to replace Henri Bendel's!
  11. I would argue that the reasoning behind Ohio having a below average job growth has little to do with Columbus and Central Ohio, and much more to do with other parts of the state. Maybe at this point more of the state should be aggressive with TIF's as Columbus (and arguably Cincinnati) is. Further more, Columbus is MASSIVE! To think that one part of the city might need a different amount of tax revenue earmarked for its well being isn't far fetched.
  12. While I like the street level interaction that comes form the podium being wrapped with appartments, I think that this might not be feasable for this location. Based on the FEMA flood planes, it looks like part of the property is in a flood plane that encorages buildings to be built on a podium. I'm willing to guess that insurance may be part of the problem with this location being built significantly differnt form what's proposed.
